Jimmy Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 the love for Dyer and hatred for Jeff is a joke Dyer was far more limited in his play, he also came in at his peak instead of being a kid who has been moved around the pitch instead of being allowed to settle and develop in 1 position because Nige has failed to sign a proper back up left back since he came back. Decision making and composure come with experience, he HAS been a constant outlet, against Arsenal for just an example Debuchy was shitting himself every time Jeff ran at him, Everton the same when he came on, needs to work on his crossing yes but he's already put in a better cross this season then Dyer managed in his whole time here, the more he plays the better he'll get and he has the 1 thing only Vardy in our side has, blistering pace
scousefox4 Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 If he didn't have his pace I doubt he would be a footballer
Jimmy Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 If he didn't have his pace I doubt he would be a footballer same could be said of a lot of players, Ritchie De Laet for example
lgfualol Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 same could be said of a lot of players, Ritchie De Laet for example Without pace De Laet would be back in Riverwood
benpicko Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 same could be said of a lot of players, Ritchie De Laet for example De Laet's a lot better at everything that Schlupp should be good at on the wing and a lot better defending too, despite the issues he's having this year. De Laet's just as fast, if not faster, this season is actually crossing with some degree of consistency and you don't have to worry about him shooting every time he gets the ball and catches a glimpse of netting as Schlupp does whenever he's not staring at his feet, rather than using his brain to pick out the best option at the time. Despite De Laet seemingly swinging from being great in defence to a liability every week, and sometimes from one half to the next, Schlupp's seriously just been full on shit the entire season other than that one cross and the minute or so leading up to it yet doesn't seem to be getting nudged into performing any better by threat of losing his position. It seems as though if the formation can accommodate him, he's there.
The Railway Man Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 Think it's mad some are already writing off Albrighton, was one of the better players in a stable Premier League side over a number of years, give him some time and a run of games and he should be a good player for us. As for Schulpp, just meh at this level. Not that good, a player who we are struggling to find a position for and seems to vanish when the going gets tough.
Dan Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 the love for Dyer and hatred for Jeff is a joke Dyer was far more limited in his play, he also came in at his peak instead of being a kid who has been moved around the pitch instead of being allowed to settle and develop in 1 position because Nige has failed to sign a proper back up left back since he came back. His end product was under-rated. It's all about where you put it and Dyer would often put it into a very dangerous position, even if it wasn't the most stylish. Dyer was clumsy, but effective. Schlupp is not quite as clumsy, but he's nowhere near as effective. Think it's mad some are already writing off Albrighton, was one of the better players in a stable Premier League side over a number of years, give him some time and a run of games and he should be a good player for us. As for Schulpp, just meh at this level. Not that good, a player who we are struggling to find a position for and seems to vanish when the going gets tough. I think the same. He could well be the answer. I don't think he's gotten himself involved as much as he ought to, but he looks quite a lively player who actually has an end product. How on earth is he being written off already? Get him in the team at Swansea and give him a run of games. Get Mahrez on the left.
J.Lisemore Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 I know Lloyd is being brought up a lot in this thread but I'm almost angry at the fact he still isn't here. He should be here. There's no way Schlupp would be starting over Dyer.
Kinowe Soorie Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 Schlupp couldn't even control a balloon, never mind a football. Balloons are quite difficult to control actually!
Merging Cultures Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 Schlupp is young. He will be inconsistent. I don't think he should be made a scapegoat though. I think he will be on the bench for the next few games giving someone else an opportunity to try to win their place. I don't see Vardy playing out wide. He should be playing down the middle off of Ulloa. His role will be to win the ball and run at defence then to slide it through to Ulloa, or to win a free kick/penalty. He might roam out to wide areas at times, with the winger moving inside, but I think he will be limited out wide.
ScouseFox Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 he's been very consistent. just consistenly awful.
EGBFitness Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 Wonder who the scape goat will be next week. lol everyone seems to want Nuge back in the team again all of a sudden, I'm sure his name might be in the mix?
UncleGus Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 Cut Sclupp some slack!! he's a young lad learning his trade. The premier leagues leading ever goalscorer Alan Shearer at the same age had just a measily 7 goals from 62 appearances. At the backend of last season, when Pearson was operating him at left back he was the most exciting hot prospect we had. Admittedley so watching him this season has been sometimes painful, but Pearson knows if he doesn't give him this experience his growth will be stunted. After another abject showing from Konchesky, and with some valuable premier league experience under his belt it is now time for Pearson to play him at left back. Where his pace, power and aerial strength can be best utilized. By the end of the season we won't be judging Schlupp on his shaky premier league start. I maybe could even remember him as fondly as Steve Guppy, Leicester legend.

Guest MattP Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 We've had Schulpp compared with Alan Shearer and Edin Hazard in the last few days
Babylon Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 Schlupp is incredibly frustrating, he can produce some excellent stuff, but then does a lot of simple things poorly. He strikes me as one of those players who if given time to think about a situation he over thinks it or snatches at it. If things come to him quickly and he has to react quickly he often does well. But, he's young and composure could come with age. I would certainly start thinking about other players ahead of him though.

He shouldn't be playing ahead of players like Vardy at the moment IMO. And I think its the thinking that is his problem.. Couldn't agree more...
Soar Fox Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 We've had Schulpp compared with Alan Shearer and Edin Hazard in the last few days Unveilable isn't it. I wonder if people would defend him as much if he hadn't had come through our academy and we'd got him on a free transfer from another club. It seems like he's still living off a league cup 1st round hat-trick 2 years ago.

Had Albrighton turned in Schulpps performances so far this season he'd already have been written off instead of being compared to premier league greats. Babs makes a good point, the good things Jeff seems to do come from things where he has no time to think about it, which is worrying for all concerned when you play at a level where time on the ball is important.

Theo Walcott manages to get away with it. (when he's not injured) I think we gave Jeff a clause in his contract that says he must start in at least 50% of our games in the Premier League. (This was back when he showed some potential and was training with Utd)
