ealingfox Posted 19 October 2014 Posted 19 October 2014 i swear a few months ago we were all singing his praises Welcome to FoxesTalk.
suffolk fox Posted 19 October 2014 Posted 19 October 2014 In over 50 years of watching City, Schlupp is possibly the worst decision maker I have ever seen. Occasionally he gets it right, but sometimes he is so bad it is embarrassing. I consider myself a reasonably fair guy, but wouldn't want him in my 5-a-side team and I am in my 60's. Too often, his first touch is awful and he is out of position so often, it's laughable. Look at Chelsea away. His goal at Millwall in January summed it up, clean through, panicking, didn't know what to do, misfit the shot, through the keepers legs. He got lucky. In the Premier League, you normally need a bit more - in my opinion he had not got it. When the opposition see him on our team sheet, they must all be happy, knowing that he's the weak link. I like NP, got loads of time for him, but his job is always on the line, so why does he play our worse players so often. Dropping Vardy and Nugent against a fragile Newcastle seemed crazy to me. Pardew must have been elated. If Schlupp plays on a regular basis this season, we will really struggle to win games. We should have taken 5-7 points from the last tthree games to set up the season, we have missed out IMO, through paying the wrong players. Hopefully, it won't cost us in the long run. This Great post
Bert Posted 19 October 2014 Posted 19 October 2014 Incredibly harsh on Jeff in this thread. Management should take credit for his under par performance yesterday. He only returned back from internationals on Friday and then flys straight up to Newcastle. Mahrez was left out so why not jeff? We have enough cover in the squad, anyone from Vardy, Nugent, Knockaert, Powell or Lawrence could've started instead of Jeff yesterday.
Dan Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 I'd get him loaned out in January should we bring a winger in. He isn't a Premier League standard player yet.
Harry - LCFC Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 Dyer was extremely effective last season, I don't care that he wasn't a quality footballer, he contributed a lot to the team and that's what matters. Shame he isn't still here. I thought before the game that Vardy should've started out wide and he certainly showed that when he came on. He wasn't at his best but still made things happen - something that's virtually guaranteed with him. I'd pick him every game.
Dan Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 From 59 seconds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5X05Qq2_1c&feature=youtu.be&t=59s One cross and one where he didn't even seem to look where he was putting it. A blind squirrel will still find the odd nut. He is not a Premier League player. Not quite as bad as some on here make out, but we can do better. I'd rather give Lawrence a try. In-fact next game I actually want Mahrez and Albrighton out wide. It's laughable how many have decided Albrighton isn't good enough after about 100 minutes of playing time for Leicester. Well he's only been playing left wing for us for 6 games or so One good ball in six games is nothing special at all and it isn't like he's never been in crossing positions playing at left back either. He just isn't very good at football. He's quick and strong but uses neither, particularly his pace, to his advantage on a consistent basis. Loan him out to an attacking Championship side who need a left winger.
RizLCFC Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 Shouldn't be starting ahead of Vardy, Albrighton or Knockaert. His pace is frightening but decision making is clumsy, looks like a fish out of water when he's through on goal. Yes, it was a brilliant cross v Arsenal, and a good finish v Burnley, but he needs to do more regularly. I wouldn't loan him out though, simply because he's our only cover at LB.
Jimmy Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 he should be starting over Vardy on the left wing ...
filbertway Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 I think a loan spell would do him some good maybe at a top league one side. If he could develop some kind of consistently good touch/cross/shot and a footballing brain he could be a dangerous player. At the minute though, he's nothing more than a wild card. Could use his pace to create a chance or could be in a great position and hit row z (the latter seems to happen more often than not).
Harry - LCFC Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 Long term I'm confident Albrighton will be playing a lot more. His crosses, although a lot were blocked, looked good on the whole.
Stadt Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 Another advantage with Dyer was that even when he was playing shit he was still an outlet and he'd still pen the opposing rightback and right mid back into there own half. We need to sign some pacey unknown (preferably African - they're more intimidating, ask BlueBrett) player that can just kick the ball past everyone and run onto the end of it and smash it into the corner like Lloyd could.
Guest MattP Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 Sick of hearing about how he has 'all the attributes' - the main attribute he doesn't have is actually being good with the ball and that's a bit of a blow for a footballer. To have him in an attacking position on the pitch and Vardy on the bench is absolutely ridiculous. The other problem he has is he doesn't quite fit in with the team ethos we have, our success has also been built on players prepared to die for the cause. Schulpp is the last bloke you would want next to you in the trenches.

Guest MattP Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 How on earth do you know Schlupp isn't fighting for the cause? Another of your I say it so it must be rights?I'm judging it from what I see on the pitch.Twice on Saturday he ducked out of very winnable tackles, that's not the sign of a man prepared to run through walls to win games.

Twice on Saturday he ducked out of very winnable tackles, that's not the sign of a man prepared to run through walls to win games. Maybe he didn't see them as winnable. Maybe he was concerned he'd get carded. Who knows? But I've never thought of Jeff Schlupp as any kind of bottler to be fair.
iamafox Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 Schlupp couldn't even control a balloon, never mind a football.
Guest Col city fan Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 Daft post! Have you ever tried to control a balloon? Other than squashing the flighty sod, its nearly impossible!

But I've never thought of Jeff Schlupp as any kind of bottler to be fair. I know he's thick and not got much of a football brain but those excuses would be ridiculous to use given they were winnable 50-50 tackles.
iamafox Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 Daft post! Have you ever tried to control a balloon? Other than squashing the flighty sod, its nearly impossible! No it isn't. I could easily do it with my eyes closed.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 Wonder who the scape goat will be next week.
ScouseFox Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 wouldn't he be a scapegoat if people were blaming him for our loss? nobody thinks he's the reason we lost, he wasn't even on the pitch when we conceded. he's not being "scapegoated" he's just being called a bad footballer, because he is.
Carlos88LCFC Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 He must be over the moon at the moment and I don't blame him. After this spell runs out here I doubt even a championship club will come in for him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
