StanSP Posted 26 October 2014 Posted 26 October 2014 It was definitely a sitter he missed. He had 2 bites at the cherry and fluffed it. But, it wouldn't have made one iota of difference to a very poor display. So it's all a moot point, really.
Fox92 Posted 26 October 2014 Posted 26 October 2014 He's been decent. Not sure what you're expecting from such as experienced player. He hasn't looked as good as he first did because we seemed to have change our style of play. Launching stupid long direct balls in the air is not his game. He's the sort of player that needs the ball on the floor.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 26 October 2014 Posted 26 October 2014 He's a fine player who has done well, given that those around are miss firing.
cjslcfc Posted 26 October 2014 Posted 26 October 2014 On the ball he's great and offers the left footed strength to complement the others. With runners around him I think he'll be fine, in a two I'm not so convinced, unless with a forward-type midfielder such as King so he can stay back and allow the other to get up the pitch. Exactly this. Cambiasso will only be useful if our other attackers fancy moving around just a little bit. The lack of imagination and creativity has been plain to see in the last few games.
pSinatra Posted 26 October 2014 Posted 26 October 2014 He's slow but he's intelligent. We seem to be more composed with him on the pitch & he seems to give the players & the crowd a lift. Ok, he fluffed his chance yesterday but it was his intelligence that put him in the position to have a chance. I can only see him improving. He could drop his huge shorts & lay a turd with more presence than Lee Cattermole.
65RosesFox Posted 26 October 2014 Posted 26 October 2014 I bet he can't believe he's come here to watch Dean Hammond play. The same Dean Hammond that has been involved in every point we have this season....
Dan Posted 26 October 2014 Posted 26 October 2014 If I was him I'd be a bit miffed that Hammond was starting ahead of me. Mind you, if you're someone else in the squad who could play out wide and you see a striker play that role instead, you'd be equally as miffed. Pearson needs to get this sorted out. Agreed. Some truly baffling choices in selection so far this season.

Ulloa should have been in the middle either getting the header in or the rebound. Don't mean to say that midfielders shouldn't be there. The bigger point is that Ulloa should receive the crosses.
Manwell Pablo Posted 26 October 2014 Posted 26 October 2014 great in his first two, didn't go to palace but he was given motm on here, inexplicably dropped for burnley and under performed at newcastle. looked okay in his brief spell yesterday, obviously missed a sitter but the game was already gone. not sure how anyone can be too disappointed? not sure what people were expecting? we've signed a 34 year old cambiasso, not a 28 year old cristiano ronaldo. You'd struggle to do that without a time machine, but this, I think we need to play him more myself but maybe he struggles to play frequently at Premier League pace.
ronnup Posted 26 October 2014 Posted 26 October 2014 He's got real quality. But isn't going to be a midfield general at his age. We need to have battlers in with him and create time and space for him. Then we will see the quality in his passing range and vision.

You're right of course. I noticed quite a few times yesterday that when there was an opportunity to cross the ball, there was hardly anyone in the penalty area........considering half the team were strikers.

DD is a bottler who'ed sooner pass to KP than play a forward pass. When he does he stands and admires. Were unbalanced when Schlupp doesn't play on the left. That was clearly shown yesterday. King is our best Midfielder but Nigel is being let down by others. A few of our players need the hairdryer or else maybe they just don't have the quality required for the prem. There not winning enough headers or 50/50s in midfield. When they do have possession they don't move the ball quickly enough or get in the box looking for anything that breaks their way.

Corky Posted 26 October 2014 Posted 26 October 2014 I like how you selected that bit but didn't wonder who KP was.
StanSP Posted 26 October 2014 Posted 26 October 2014 I like how you selected that bit but didn't wonder who KP was. Giving him the benefit of the doubt that it was a typo that was meant to be PK. That or he's really not that clever and still thinks Kevin Phillips is in a playing role for us...
ronnup Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Also.if he can find form. Turn it on and control a game like he is capable of. It may win us a game or two. 6-9 points are going to shape our season.
Dickov22 Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Never thought he was the world beater some on here, radio Leicester and twitter suggested he was. The over reaction was a bit embarrassing. He's clearly a good player, Stoke away he was absolutely fantastic and changed the game. Man Utd at home he did pretty well but did at times look a little off the pace. That game confirmed to me he can't play in a two, but that's fair enough, no problems with that as we've got plenty of options in centre mid. Palace away he was pretty poor, just wasn't the kind if game for him which led me to thinking, can we have a player in the side where certain games aren't 'the right type of game for him' ???? No question that against Swansea he did well, helped calm us down and keep the ball much much better. Not gonna hammer him for the miss, he could have that chance 100 times and score it 99 times. Just a one off. We got overrun in midfield at Swansea so id play Cambiasso against WBA. Play him with another two centre mids and also play at least one natural wide player in the midfield. Not sure how Pearson fits that all in, but he must have had the scenario in mind when he chose to sign Cambiasso.
Jace Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 He's been fantastic class above everyone else in the team when it comes to creative passing, whats impressed me more than anything is his passion for the team. Seeing the stick he's getting for not scoring yesterday is just ridiculous
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Still a class player, how he's not in ahead of Hammond currently, i dont know! Him and King HAVE to start against WBA
suffolk fox Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 Decent so far. King has been our best midfielder this season. What by sitting on the bench? That about sums it up this season.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 27 October 2014 Posted 27 October 2014 If he can nurse Drinkwater back to some kind of form he'll have done wonders. I hope Cambiasso's influence will help shake him out of his funk, because I really believe you can lay a huge part of the responsibility for our poor performances at DD's door.

Good enough to play prem I think but needs to find some form soon
