Pearson to Face Investigation?

That clearly wouldn't work, though, would it?

Referees, linesmen, chairmen, policemen, shop owners, teachers, social workers, lawyers, judges, politicians, journalists... and, yes, football managers have to be able to rise above this kind of thing.

I really don't consider this a big deal, but the hero worship that seems to have been provoked by a professional who isn't currently doing a particularly good job failing to keep his head at a tricky time, and behaving like an inarticulate idiot (which is the last thing on earth he is) is increasingly helping to turn it into a big deal.

His job status should depend on how well he does his job, not this kind of rubbish. It isn't excusable, neither is repeatedly coming out with some line about not wanting your supporters to turn up if you don't want to see us looking crap.

I can see that this has appealed to a large number of people on here who, in some cases, don't appear to think very much of our fans either. But don't go thinking that this forum has ever represented common opinion among those fans you so despise (as has been suggested by more than one poster), and don't bother trying to argue that in some way this was a reasonable response on his part, when it clearly wasn't.

Normally this is a place which restores my faith in fans because of the considered opinions of many posters. To see some of you fawning over a man just because he told a fellow paying fan - who you vilify on the grounds that he, just like Pearson, unnecessarily lost his cool - to 'f*** off and die', or whatever it was, is very disappointing.

Just brush it off as a sorry episode. Don't make a big deal out of it. Don't get into a row on Sunday or the weekend after that when you realise that the boisterous back-slapping love-in on here isn't a true reflection on how many fans feel. And let the manager be judged on how good he is at his job.

Policemen? Next time you see a policeman patrolling the High Street walk up to him ... or her (i'm so PC)... and loudly shout " fvckin twat" in their face. Then tell them they should "rise above it." as they bundle you into the back of the van.

The reason why most people are behind Pearson on this is cos he shouldn't have to put up with that kind of abuse in the first place. Being part of a football crowd is not an excuse to stop being a decent human being. If Pearson had yanked that bloke out of the crowd and slapped him about a bit I'd still think Pearson's response was reasonable.

I thought Cantona was right when he kung fu kicked that Palace nob all them years ago, so I certainly have no problem with Pearson standing up for himself in the face of personal abuse.

That's your opinion. My opinion is if someone gives you shit you are fair game to get a bit back. I don't go around abusing people for no reason, neither do 99.99999% so funnily enough I've never had anyone tell me to do one. But if I did, and they do I've got no reason to cry about it.

Do it to a judge or a lawyer and you'd be in contempt of court, a policeman and you'd get arrested, a shopkeeper and you'd get refused service and chucked out, teachers suspended. What's going to happen to this fan? Would you rather he got banned? I'd rather he was just put firmly in his place.

It's a shame others had to hear it, I'd rather Pearson dragged him to one side and told him what he thought of him. It doesn't make me think any more or any less of Pearson though.

Erm, I'm sorry. But if you read posts on this forum carefully, the bottom line has always been that the FT community in general has been highly critical of a certain element of our fans, not all fans in total.

We all hate d***s at football matches, people who moan for the sake of it, people with a short fuse and a foul mouth, people who add absolutely nothing to the atmosphere at a football match, people who dwell in taking things to a new low, people who are in dire need of attention and appreciation for their "courageous", yet idiotic outbursts.

Personally, they can s*ck my genitals and stay as far away from any sports venue as possible. They're a poisonous influence and should be banned. They can take their money elsewhere, no one is forcing them to attend.

Whatever the reasons and the provocation, Pearson is a Premiership manager. He must learn to not react in this alleged way. It shows signs of a man under stress and does him zero favours.

Due to apologise today apparently?

Yeah, heard he shit himself when he found out that Cliff 'voice-of-the-fans' Ginnetta had gotten involved.

Seriously though, if he does apologise, then I'll lose a bit of respect for him. Done nothing wrong IMO.

I only heard it on Talk Sport so it could be crap Rich..we'll see

I suspect he's regretting letting them get under his skin though.

Fans should not be abusing the players or staff, quite simply unacceptable

However 2 wrongs don't make a right

yes, two negatives don't make a positive.

I think the bloke was holding up the new Victoria's Secrets catalogue and what Pearson actually said was, "Phoor! Cor! Undies!"

Yeah me too. Cannot see the benefit to anyone in making Pearson humiliate himself because of the actions of a single moron.

Bad move by the club if true. I can imagine Pearson starting to think ‘fvck it’ and giving up on us. As some of his detractors have said, he’s on a good contract now. He could happily just spend the next 3 years walking his dogs in the Peak District on his pay-out.

The problem is until someone apologies this will roll on and on. Someone has to show they are the bigger man either Pearson or the fan.

Don't get me wrong I am not condoning what the "fan" said in the slightest as far as I'm concerned he is a moronic knuckle dragger of the highest order and Pearson's right people like him shouldn't be at the game.

However Pearson shouldn't of said what he said. He should of just said the f**k off bit and left it at that. Now personally I think that Pearson should be the man for the job but you can clearly tell by his actions since the burnley comments that he is feeling the pressure despite what he tells the press.

I've just seen the video and I can't understand where **** off and die came from, sounds more like not offside to me

Why are people getting so hung up on the 'and die' part. Pearsons not actually wishing the bloke to go and die. Its not really even that nasty a thing to say to a grown man.

I will be furious if he apologises.

I would imagine the apology would be to those he offended near by and not to the person he said it to. Which is fair enough for me if that's the case.
