kyleolly Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 Anybody think we're missing his speed, directness and ability to stretch a game maybe we could get him back from Watford?
Fox92 Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 No. His pace, brilliant whenever he used it, but this is the top flight and you can't just use pace alone. He lacked a footballing brain so he'd only get caught out more. I think with Dyer and Schlupp we'd have the most frustrating wingers in the division.

Well we wouldn't play both as wingers, I'd rather have Schlupp at LB and Lloyd LM as opposed to Konch and Schlupp. But Dyer isn't a long term option and he wouldn't sign a one year deal so there's not much point dwelling on it.

Spot on...
cc_star Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 Yes, it's obvious to see we have a real lack of pace on the counter, specifically on the left. Yes, Schlupp is fast but he can't dribble. Dyer was our most effective player Vs top flight opposition in recent years. Pace, pace, pace & pace again, matter even more in the top flight, not only that but he was great at tracking back. Along with the club's failure to land another forward which NP identified was needed the club not giving Dyer the extra year and/or not replacing him has been absolutely catastrophic! Yes the 2nd year would have required us taking a hit... But so what?

It's NOT all about that..his pace scares defenders such that gaps get left for our other attacking players. However, it's all academic, he's gone. You're right though, he's not been replaced with anything any better.
DeclanMC Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 Schlupp is 1/2 the player of Lloyd atm. Lloyd's final product was always frustrating, but at least he didn't run down blind alleys in midfield. Terry Robinson should have done better in keeping him at the club, it wasn't Pearson's decision to let him go.

He was a good asset to the squad & as we're seeing, a much needed one. Poor show Robinson
JIMMYWILLIS Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 On the odd occasion he would deliver a cross who would be on the end of it when ulloa is patrolling out 18 yard box?

I've mentioned it so many times in other threads - we only got to see the Lloyd Dyer starting at the age of 26. Let's see where Jeffrey Schlupp is in five years time before we make any more comparisons between the two, shall we?
lgfualol Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 How do we know Lloyd would have even good in the prem? Once people put two players on him he was useless. I prefer Schlupp

I prefer Schlupp Nobody in the Premier League would put 2 players in Lloyd Dyer! I do think our squad would be better with him in it but he won't come back.

I should have made clear that I do think Schlupp has potential, but he's not ready to start week in week out in the prem. He could have gone out on loan and not had to deal with the pressure.

Personally, I consider it a great lesson to draw from for him. He can only get better with all that experience he's amassing and that pressure he has to deal with.

Let's see where Jeffrey Schlupp is in five years time before we make any more comparisons between the two, shall we? I think that's a fair point about Dyer's development (Dyer also had a gentle introduction with us in League 1) but some of the stuff Schlupp does (running after the ball and then letting it go out for a throw in against Liverpool on Tuesday for example) makes you wonder if he's lacking something upstairs which Dyer had.
Webbo Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 How many threads are we going to have about this? He's gone, get over it.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 Llyod dyer wouldn't add anything, not good enough for the prem...
Babylon Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 Can anyone remember how crap he was second half of last season? The answer is very.
tylesta Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 I could read dyer like a book, he's a one trick pony! well to tell you the truth one of the only times he cut in on his right he scored a thunderbolt
lgfualol Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 Is he still on the bench at Watford? Shows the quality in our squad if people want him in it
cc_star Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 Is he still on the bench at Watford? Shows the quality in our squad if people want him in it Shows the quality in that position.Schlupp - awful on LW doesn't even look like pro footballer in that position Knockaert - Glacial & inadequate Mahrez - Vs Liverpool when he moved there later on? Just woeful! If people can't see that Dyer would add an option to the squad at LW, then I'm even more baffled as to the director of football's inability to sort it out favourably for ours & his club
DeclanMC Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 But don't you think being thrown into the Premier League at that age can have its benefits? Personally, I consider it a great lesson to draw from for him. He can only get better with all that experience he's amassing and that pressure he has to deal with. I think ultimately it depends on what type of character he has. I hope he responds well to the experience and pressure and improves with it, rather than buckling. My opinion is that he should have had a season long loan at a club that will play him in a fixed position, so he can learn his craft fully and improve his allround game, without having to worry about keeping us up. He does seem to be growing in confidence though, as evidenced by his QPR goal.
ScouseFox Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 remember when zabaleta pulled his hamstring trying to chase him last season lloyd lloyd will tear your hamstrings apart again i miss him every time schlupp touches the ball i miss him
Guest Col city fan Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 Can anyone remember how crap he was second half of last season? The answer is very. I thought he was injured mainly? That was when Mahrez came in
