That has to be it. Pearson needs to go.

Does anyone actually believe that he's learnt anything this season and improved as a manger?

We have to rebuild an entire defence next season because he's failed to bring in young players so the idea that we'll come straight back up is unlikely and if we did he'd relegate us again.

Doesn't matter who comes in now we'd surely be better set up for games.

He's definetly not learning.

I'd be tempted to say he's perhaps gone backwards, In reality I don't think thats the case, he'll still be a great Championship manager (Perhaps a reason to keep him) but think he is way out his depth at this level, or perhaps he is just too sentimental to certain players [cough]his favourites[cough].

The only reasonable argument left for me is who the fvck do we get in? We're going down, plain and simple, Pearson is an excellent championship manager and he's more likely than anyone one to get us up again

. After Blackburn yesterday I am not sure

I said at the start of the season, if he had us competing, he should be given the season.

We are not competing, and he looks so out of his depths it's uncomfortable to watch.

I'm tired of the same excuses, fine margins blah, blah, blah.

He should have been gone before Christmas, and I'm sick of the argument that we are only 3 points from safety, oh now 5 points, this would be ok if we could actually win a ****ing game.

Pearson and city are where we are, because the manager, and a lot of players are massively out of their depths.

Can't see us getting many more points this season, but no point sacking him now, but needs to go in the summer, when we need to get someone in who can move us on

I disagree- it would make more sense sacking him now- so the new manager gets to know which players to try and keep/sell in the summer

We ARE competing. We AREN'T taking enough chances. Most of the people recognise this.

I do not think Pearson has been coming up with excuses, quite the contrary. He has tried to change things by bringing in a clinical striker, who has two goals to his name already, and some experienced heads at the back. He's changed formations and players, but is clearly limited by what's available and maybe also by his own abilities as a manager.

He's not going to go out and publicly say we are shit, because we are not. We are just not good enough to win games, and it is not because of a lack of effort. Our back line and central midfield have not done as well as we (and likely Pearson too) would expect.

But the crucial thing to his continued appointment is that he has not lost the trust of the board or the dressing room.

We're not seeing lacklustre performances, we're seeing a lack of quality and I can't see that a new manager at this point can change things around.

Yeah I'm done now. I've supported him ever since being burnt by wanting him out during the awful run at the end of 12/13 but now I've had enough. It isn't even the losing. It's the horrible negative approach to games.

So we're going down. Not the end of the world. But we had a real chance to go deep into the FA Cup. We were two wins from Wembley. And he doesn't even have us trying to score? **** off.

His days are seriously numbered now anyway. Today was the first time I've heard the fans turn on him. He was booed and there were cries of 'Pearson out!' at the end of the game. I can't see the owners putting up with that.

Michael Laudrup has remained untouched by the current managerial changes. I'm not sure what that means...

Can do well against the big teams all we like, come the teams we should be beating we have been shit every time.

Poor decision making today, don't know how long this can go on for.

If we go down it will be down to his poor tactics, poor team selections, remaining with his faves despite not being good enough, and not doing enough in both transfer markets.

We are not competing, we have won 4 league games all season, and lost most of the rest.

He doesn't know how to win at this level, and barring once against villa, and away at hull, we have been beaten by the team we are fighting relegation against.

We don't look like winning any game at the minute, and today was another game he got wrong, and another negative disgraceful performance.

These players and manager are not looking like a team that are fighting for their life's in the premier league.

It means he is being paid millions to **** about in the sun in Qatar, all for no pressure at all.

He only has four months remaining on his contract though. Surely if Pearson goes, the owners need to be looking up for the dialling code for Doha.

Posted

He's also only a few weeks away from playing his top of the table side in the Champions League. I'm not sure we'd attack him. If there was any chance we should be doing everything we can to get him right now.

Pearson must be the luckiest manager in EPL history....can anyone think of anyone else who's done so shit and not been sacked

Paul Jewell at Derby?

There's a world of difference between the AFC Champions League and the UEFA version. If he has any ambition as a manager, he'll be wanting to manage in Europe again pronto.

.

We'd need to kiss bye bye to instant promotion if they do. The whole squad would need reworking. Morgan, Wasilewsi, Upson, Huth pressing high up the pitch doesn't bear thinking about.

Not that I'm opposed to it. I've always been attracted to Swansea's approach of having a club philosophy and fitting everything else around that. If clubs the size if Swansea and Southampton can do it then so can we. It would require a lot of patience through the inevitable false starts though.

Who would replace him now? I would actually be quite happy with Lambert! Did well at Norwich and although not great with Villa he did manage to keep them up over recent seasons. He's also got experience in the championship if we go down

Great shout. I'm with you.

That's if he doesn't have a quick impact. I could certainly see his attacking style with reliance on pace working with our set-up. Mahrez, Schlupp and Kramaric are nippy.

IF there's a honeymoon period, as there often is with new managers thanks to refreshed tactics, we could get our way out of the mess and begin building a Swansea style side in the summer with Laudrup at the helm.

I'm not for a second saying that we should bin off Pearson tonight, but if NP does collect his P45 then Laudrup must be first choice. We're utterly barking otherwise.

Posted

We should bin him tonight. There's absolutely no benefit to keeping him now.

In fairness, those sacking rumours weren't just made up. I can't imagine he has long left, defeat at Everton will probably do for him.

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that competing is equivalent to winning.

We have not done well enough to win against teams in and around us, Pearson has not hid from this fact.

Maybe Pearson has been a bit too naïve regarding the capabilities of this squad, but we've hardly been outplayed in any of these bottom-half games.

We could and maybe should have drawn at least half of the games that we have lost.

West Brom home, Aston Villa away, QPR away, Palace home, Stoke home, Spurs home, Arsenal away. All games that you could argue we did not deserve to lose.

This, to me, suggests we are competing.

And to suggest that someone 'knows how to win', what a silly cliché that is. It implies that managers have the solution every time, and that it is just the players that get it wrong on the pitch.

We've set up against most teams in a competitive fashion, and we have created chances/restricted opposition chances in sufficient amount to take more points from (at least) the seven games mentioned above.
