SecretPro Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 Having sat on the fence for a long time today's team selection, tactics and inability to even do the basics to any sort of acceptable standard is the final straw for me We will not stay up The manager is responsible for his personnel, for tactics, formation, training and motivation. He is responsible for success and responsible for failure. Pearson and many in this team are damaged goods by virtue of their experience this season. They will not be the same players and manager that got us promoted. I haven't seen anything to suggest that next season we will finish above whichever two sides come down with us or a number of the improving championship sides who are now building and developing as we had done I haven't seen anything to suggest that Pearson has learnt and adapted as the season has progressed. We are getting worse rather than better. If we keep Pearson and he gets us up it is unlikely that he would then be given the boot. He will be given another crack at the Premiership, at least till the October / November period. If he falls short on recruitment again we will once again be only left with a January window in which to get out of jail. Another opportunity to establish ourselves as a top flight club and develop will likely be lost I would prefer to get someone in now to see what else could be achieved with this set of players and so to take stock ahead of the summer transfer window We need a manager who picks a side on form and ability, who can motivate and adapt, who sees performances that are sub standard for what they are and who is prepared to alter the coaching set up if it is failing week on week. We need a manager who has an alternative solution to working harder. Our manager looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights. He is incapable of obtaining sustained improvement. At this level he is comfortably a failure. I think it can be possible to go down with some pride but even that is being whittled away as the season progresses. Thanks for the memories Nigel. I don't doubt that you've done your best, that your decisions have been honest and that you've worked hard but it is no longer in the club's interests for you to continue to steer the ship Pearson out Spot on.
hackneyfox Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 Article from Nigel Pearson. "What a load of rubbish" must have been heard. http://www.foxsportsasia.com/football/fa-cup/news/detail/item9717035/Pearson-accepts-fan-frustrations Bit of a change in attitude from FOAD and 'If you don't like it don't bother coming'.
Webbo Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 "17 points in an easier league" How is the league easier? The gap between the premier league and the championship has exploded, it's much much harder than it was 12 years ago when teams could go up and finish in mid table. The monetary differences between leagues has changed everything But we're doing worse than QPR and Burnley. We need to stop making excuses and admit that this season has been a disaster and the buck stops with the manager.
johnny the fox Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 TBF at the end of this season any player who didn't want to go would have no ambition in my eyes ..

"What a load of rubbish" must have been heard. http://www.foxsportsasia.com/football/fa-cup/news/detail/item9717035/Pearson-accepts-fan-frustrations Misleading headline. Pearson said: "People are entitled to their opinions, it doesn't matter what I think." Doesn't really sound like acceptance to me.
cheshamfox17 Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 Webbo, I totally agree it wasn't an excuse it was a point to another poster who was claiming Peter Taylor was a better manager than Pearson.

But I think if Nigel just changed the way he communicated and seemingly reflected more and looked and listened to there......he could have a positive effect......in this premiership or the Championship (a lesson for us to think about as well,....devil you know and all that) . Bottom line is Nigel needs to stop going to war with everyone: Certain vocal home Fans Away players bumping into him National Press Local radio And instead get him and his team going to WAR on the opposition and really giving it 150% and parking some of this sports science for a while ......... WE ARE STILL IN THE CUP......IT IS CALLED THE FUKING FA PREMIERSHIP.............IF we approach the game like Bradford have the FA CUP.......then we MIGHT JUST MIGHT HAVE A CHANCE Over to you Nigel........TIME FOR YOUR BOYS and YOU to stop talking and put a REAL SHIFT in to get an actual result. GO TO WAR!!!
st albans fox Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 How would people feel if he did manage to pull this off and save us from relegation? Would you still want him as manager or replace him? The ridiculous thing is that with the right team selection, we could find half a dozen victories. the even more ridiculous thing would be Pearson finding that selection. (Even though several on here seem to have worked it out)
Robin JD Popley Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 Some people keep going on one bad game...give him time, etc. So on that basis I shall give you an example. Sunderland's drubbing earlier this season to Southampton was laughable. We all laughed. The national media laughed at them. They felt so bad they refunded their entire travelling support of their ticket prices. However, bar their cup exit today, they have greatly improved and have not let one result affect their entire season - nothing fantastic but steady enough. On the other hand, we keep coming up short and are 'nearly there', 'aren't too far away', 'unlucky' but how many times in one season can you be unlucky before it becomes clearly obvious to some people that we are just not good enough? Ask yourself another question - in the recruitment process of this season, albeit not an easy task for a newly promoted team, you would like to think we (as the Football League champions) have a lot more pulling power in comparison to our fellow promoted teams? Nevertheless, with our tight budget (albeit admirable) is clearly evident to not be up to current Premier League standards as set by players and agents alike. I don't wholeheartedly agree with the amount of money involved in professional sport nowadays, needless to say when people are struggling to eat and heat their homes but that is the culture that is now inherent in the game. Moreover, who is to say that Nigel has the ability to convince multiple players of a certain experience at this level? We have signed 3 or 4 players this season with any top flight experience. Everyone else has been lower leagues and it is now beginning to show. All in all, this whole season has culminated in our woeful showing today and I think the penny has dropped with some people. Hopefully our owners too!
lgfualol Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 Watching a thing on SS1 about us and the start of the season. Makes me sad that he and the team went from so promising to absolute shambles.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 That's the problem. It's more likely a new manager to come in and still get us relegated. Yet in the championship Pearson is the best man to get us back up again. So we have a serious problem. The last thing we need is getting relegated with a new manager who wants to make a lot of changes in the summer. We all know this group of players can do well in the championship. The fans have lost faith, but you don't think the players have? On today's bollox I would say they have. An assumption that a manager who has clearly lost his own self confidence ( manifested in a bunch of irrational behaviour) over the last few months, is wide of the mark. He's lost it and cannot be trusted to replace last seasons performance, next season
l444ry Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 Can't do any worse than put a Caretaker(s) in charge for the rest of the season. The players aren't that far off in my opinion. A different voice in the dressing room might just help as we're stick on certs to go down as things stand. There will be plenty of longer term options to look at in the summer. I can't see any point in leaving Pearson in charge on the grounds that he "knows" the players better than anyone else. That's half the flaming problem.
Callabinho Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 I agree totally with Mike, I previously didn't want NP to get sacked, but now I find it very hard to find a reason of keeping him, let's face it the football this season has been dreadful, we've had little spats and flashes every now and then, but nothing consistently good. Today felt as if he either a) couldn't give a shit or b) is completely lost. He picks the same under achievers week in week out and refuses to be questioned. I'm struggling to get myself up for games now, every game I'm just hoping it's over quickly, and as pain free as possible.
ScouseFox Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 so excited to be in the minority of fans at goodison who are actually going to support the team and manager. isn't this gonna be a fun away day.
Soar Fox Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 Could anyone come in and actually do a worse job than he is at the minute? Least a new manager wouldn't play his mate in goal
AKCJ Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 TBF at the end of this season any player who didn't want to go would have no ambition in my eyes .. From my perspective anyone that would jump shit would be a knob. Unless they're really earnt a move like Mahrez. Nobody else in our team (apart from maybe Ulloa) could demand a move in the summer. If we go down i'd like to think our players would stay loyal to the club. None of them would deserve to play PL football.

The monetary differences between leagues has changed everything No way is this league harder than 12 years ago, ok Chelsea and Man City have probably the best squads ever assembled in this division but the rest, no chance, Man Utd Arsenal Villa Newcastle Everton Liverpool had far better teams back then there are 6 or 7 poor teams this season and we are bottom of the lot.
chapero82 Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 Didn't pearson' odds to be next manager sacked go out to 16/1? They are now 4/5
AKCJ Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 I support the team mate. Singing those chants does nothing positive.
ScouseFox Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 I support the team mate. But I won't be singing "there's only Nigel Pearson" thats fine, i get that (and this isn't aimed just at you, obviously) but the numbnuts who don't want to sing that should drown it out with "leicester til i die" or "we love you leicester, we do" or something similar, as opposed to going tit for tat by singing things like "you don't know what you're doing", thus creating not only a shit atmosphere but a volatile one. but they're obviously not clever enough to think of that.
