Callabinho Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Upson used to be a well built lad, I noticed how thin he looked at the benfica game, surely an injury couldn't cause that?
Guest Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 What I mean is, during that World Cup, there was a stupid media campaign that once Gareth Barry returned, everything would be fine. I'm not doubting Matt Upson is a good player but this idea that he will solve all our defensive worries is wrong. I don't think anyone in their right mind is genuinely saying he'll solve everything but in certain circumstances (that happen to have been our undoing in the last few games) he may add a little more resilience. Provided he's fit obviously
Albert Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 He's a talker & will give us much needed experience and organisation at the back. Can see him coming in for the West Ham game
VLC86 Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Somebody's been skipping leg day at the gym. Someone has been skipping two for Tuesday at Dominos.
Guest Bilo Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 We haven't struggled against pace all season, we've been undone by balls into the box, not picking up men and not reacting quick enough to clear the ball. We've handled Lukaku, Sterling, Sanchez, Hazard etc very well. It's the Charlie Austin's and Wilfried Bony's we have struggled against. As Chelsea's slow back four show, the most important yards are the ones in the head and Moore is showing himself to have nothing upstairs on performance so far this season. Spot on. De Laet is quick, but has struggled all season. Pace is only part of the story at this level, football intelligence is more important by far. That being said, a 35 year old centre back returning from injury who last played in the Premier League in January 2013 isn't going to solve all our ills.
Steve Earle Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 We haven't struggled against pace all season, we've been undone by balls into the box, not picking up men and not reacting quick enough to clear the ball. Richmondfox Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Moore's positioning has been terrible, the number of last ditch blocks is because of the defence being out of place. I have been watching Schlupp closely and he seems to be on a 2 second delay, he'll watch a pass go by him then react rather than closing down and use his pace and strength to stop passes and try and get the counter like De laet with Mata. The whole team needs to stop the opposition playing their game and sharpen their own footballing brains.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 I would give Upson and Simpson a run of games.
Grewks Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 De laet and Wes have been our best defenders this season, have no idea what anyone else has been watching. Was was decent for a game, and then poor at QPR, gave Wes no support who was single handedly responsible for keeping QPR out for as long as we did. Was was also poor at villa, needless free-kick which led to the equaliser, then lacked the 'usual Was' attribute and decided to let gabby run past him rather than bring him down. Moore - Poor all season really. Cost us goals at swansea and villa...probably even more than that but the results were more positive before that therefore his mistakes were unpunished. De laet looked very good against hazard and sterling this season, it is the lack of support from those in front which has caused him problems..... Baines gave him a torrid time because mahrez never tracked him, and hazard, although poor for the majority, got a goal because albrighton left him.
MPH Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 I think I believe in Simpson more than De Laet. Simpson has certainly not done himself any harm recently....
Bettsj2 Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 If we were to sign Curtis Davis in Jan, a back 4 of Simpson Davis Upson Konchesky certainly looks better than what we have at the moment.
Guest bss9401 Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Looks a bit thin Aah bless, that nice bloke is taking Upson across the road in the nasty rain!
Bert Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Why can't people spell players names correctly? Curtis DAVIES
davieG Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Aah bless, that nice bloke is taking Upson across the road in the nasty rain! Taking his pulse.
MC Prussian Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 He looks ill...He looks like he's lost at least 20 pounds...Well, first step: Lose your extra bodyfat. Second step: Rebuild your muscle mass. Hope we can see him in action comes February.
Soar Fox Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Bloody hell we could do with Upson going round Taylor-Fletchers for a few meals. He looks about dead.
Bettsj2 Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Why can't people spell players names correctly? Curtis DAVIES I know its so fvcking an.......oh hang on....
Out Foxed Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Moore's positioning has been terrible, the number of last ditch blocks is because of the defence being out of place. moore's positioning is dog shit.
Wilson_6 Posted 11 December 2014 Author Posted 11 December 2014 back for of Simpson Wez Upson Konch would do me. I do rate ~De laet highly but think Simpson deserves a shot for a few games now!
5waller5 Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 He looks like he's lost at least 20 pounds... Well, first step: Lose your extra bodyfat. Second step: Rebuild your muscle mass. Hope we can see him in action comes February. Agree... Unless he really is at peak fitness and his previous build was largely fat. With a pro team around his rehab then I'd expect he'd be in decent shape apart from whatever his injury was - what was it??
Dickov22 Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Moore is just as slow as Morgan and Wasilewski You're joking surely?
Stadt Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 You're joking surely? No, Moore isn't very quick, maybe not as slow as those two but he's still slow.
