Booking.com, I use them for most of our stays tbh.

We're staying at the Riad Ciel d'Orient next week but there's loads on there

We're travelling to the Dominican Republic for a cruise in November, and looking at flights. We have an option to go via Montreal with Air Canada with a 17 hour layover, am I mad to consider it? I really like the idea of having a few hours to see a little bit of Montreal, but is it worth it?

I'm a long haul novice so need some thoughts please.

No way would i take that flight, be a night mare faffing about.Pay extra for a better flight or get a longer stay over

Faffing about with what? We can stay in Montreal for around €100, and the eta will cost €4. When you say pay extra for a better flight do you mean one which doesn't include a stopover in Canada?

Yeh no idea what the faff would be. I went to Florida a few years back and did half a day stopover in Toronto. There is no faff. It’s a diff visa and ensure your luggage is marked as transit so you don’t have to collect and check it in again. Take advantage of the privileges our British passports give us, cheap/easy visas and freedom of movement around the world. We have no faff with it in our pockets.

Only other thing would be it'd be worth booking a cheapo hotel or at least an arrivals lounge at the airport. The power of a shower, clean toilet, brushing your teeth and new set of underwear is unparalleled on these short stops

Yes a direct flight unless there is a massive saving. I flew to Florida via a stop off in New York for around 8 hours as it was a great price for  the 4 of us. At the time I said I would not do it again as it made the travelling even more tiring. Landing getting off, finding something to do re boarding etc... we just found it a pain and ultimately not worth the saving

With only 17 hours in between, you will spend time at the airport waiting to get off the plane, immigration controls, there could be a delay going which impacts the time in Montreal, traffic to and from the airport in Montreal etc...

Got a surprise stag trip tomorrow and I'm seriously fighting the urge to check the flights leaving Stansted at the time I know we're roughly leaving!

Can't wait

Where did you end up?

A few of us are looking to do a Eurotrip for one of the F1 weekends. Has anyone been to the Belgian GP before?

Any advice on the best way to travel there and places to stay would be greatly received

Thought today while ambling through central London that with the expansion of the Schengen area you could travel overland from London to Tehran and would only have to show your passport once between getting on the Eurostar in St Pancras and arriving at the Iranian border.

We couldn't go in the sea at boa vista at all for a week as the waves were massive.

Has anyone been to Zadar?

Yes, couple of times. Nice town. Don't think the beaches nearby are that great, but that's true for most of Croatia. Some really beautiful islands north of there but more easily accessible from Fiume. I like Split much more, more to do and better atmosphere.

We flew there and went to a Eurocamp northeast which was nice.

The coastline is stunning and there are a load of places to go. We also did a couple of days in the mountains and visited Plitvice and Krka national parks. Plitvice is unreal.
