VLC86 Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Should have just got Matty James on some shooting practise at the KP, at least 5 shots would have gone in that direction and possibly saved some dollar.
fleckneymike Posted 22 February 2015 Posted 22 February 2015 Shouldn't this be in the conspiracy thread?

Guest Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 Think that big building next to train station is even worse eye sore.. now a hotel I think.
Samilktray Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 Alot of ugly buildings in Leicester but the new fire service building up Birstall way is tremendous to look at
Jimothy Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 Think that big building next to train station is even worse eye sore.. now a hotel I think. I think I read a few years back, that due to the structure of the building, it would cost a fortune to bring it down. Not 100% what the issue was, but they decided it wasn't worth it.
Parafox Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 What are they going to build there ?. Dunno but Soulsby will no doubt find an excuse to reduce road width to that of a cycle lane

Parafox Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 Demolition filmed by drones Where were the hijacked aircraft...?
wurmer Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 Dunno but Soulsby will no doubt find an excuse to reduce road width to that of a cycle lane Soulsby, models himself on Red Ken and uses Leicester as his own personal plaything.
NewburyFox Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 The big blue monstrosity has to go (maybe the same building as referred to above), it's one of the ugliest buildings I have ever seen.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 The big blue monstrosity has to go (maybe the same building as referred to above), it's one of the ugliest buildings I have ever seen. Haven't they painted it a slightly less offensive shade of blue? I believe that they're taking out the jaunty red and yellow panels as well, which might make it look slightly less shit, I suppose. Going back to Soulsby, and this is a genuine question, why do people hate him so much? I don't have that much of an opinion on him myself, but I was wondering if he's done anything in particular to provoke folks' ire. Is it just about the cycle lanes and that square at the top of the High Street, or is he doing lots of things that are getting people's backs up?

Is it just about the cycle lanes and that square at the top of the High Street, or is he doing lots of things that are getting people's backs up? Reading between the lines in the Merc on line I think it's more to do with his pretence at consulting the people when many of his critics believe he's already decided and his public consultations are just lip service and seemingly the results are not published, well not fully. Which makes him somewhat dictatorial, arrogant and patronising. ( and I'm not talking about what some people seem to think about Pearson )
Rincewind Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 I know people that go to council meetings and there are a few things that are passed without a public consultation. Anyone can attend the meetings and view the minutes online (if searched well) Soulsby in his capacity as leader has the final say in decisions and his team is carefully hand picked. No doubt it happens elsewhere around the country.

I think the issue with Soulsby is he keeps pushing things through regardless of what the public actually think. The public meetings that have been held have been a bit of a farce, especially concerning the jubilee square. A lot of the businesses nearby were completely opposed to it, and he planned most of it to just look pretty as opposed to it actually being practical.
lgfualol Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 More demolition please. Agree with above poster about blue building, absolutely dreadful. Also tall building near Wilkos in Leicester could do with an explosion.
purpleronnie Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 Problem is that after demolition the new build looks just as bad. We should definately look to the likes of Manchester to see what can be achieved. No doubt we'll just get some awful looking office buildings and some low level flats.

lavrentis Posted 24 February 2015 Posted 24 February 2015 GOOD RIDDANCE that was the worst building in leicester
