mugshot Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 Can anyone actually put the articles here?! All we have at the moment is a thread full of guesses as to who it is whilst the material with the real clues is actually already out there... http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Meet-Secret-Leicester-City-Footballer/story-25841967-detail/story.html http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Secret-Leicester-City-Footballer-today/story-25846832-detail/story.html
Foxhateram Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 Joe mattock? We fell out with him quite badly just before he left didn't we? Or possibly even Sheehan?
Guest MattP Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 These supposed 'secret footballer' articles are becoming a license to print whatever bullshit the newspaper wants to.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Meet-Secret-Leicester-City-Footballer/story-25841967-detail/story.html http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Secret-Leicester-City-Footballer-today/story-25846832-detail/story.html They're not the articles, they're just online previews of what they're doing exclusively in the print publication! (I assume)
gerrytaggart Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 I agree. Probably written by a fat journalist who has never kicked a ball in his life!
Babylon Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 Mark Blake. No chance, nobody at the Merc could even track him down when they did the article a while back about the players from that era.
Blanesta Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 No chance, nobody at the Merc could even track him down when they did the article a while back about the players from that era. Oh well, in that case Jamie Lawrence?
Stevosevic Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 He played with some of Leicester's greatest ever players, probably MON era.
Raj Posted 21 January 2015 Posted 21 January 2015 This one is for MrRandomnSilly.....Come On Geoff who is it??
inckley fox Posted 21 January 2015 Posted 21 January 2015 I'd got it down to Carey, Ormondroyd, Whitlow or Ian Marshall. I thought Phil Gee at first, but maybe not, seeing as he mentions playing years later. As for the others, could you imagine any of them dancing? I think they might be being a bit liberal with the 'played with some of the best players ever', either that or a bit harsh on the not being a household name among Leicester fans. But they seem to have been there during a successful era, at one point at least, signed at the same time as another player, and not been especially young (or established) when they joined. Unless they came through the youth system but just took years to make a debut, like Oakes or Lewis for instance. So did Marshall sign or make a debut at the same time as anyone else? They say 'in the blue of Leicester' so I'm guessing it's not Poole or Gavin Ward. Either way, I clearly have too much time on my hands right now. As do they.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 21 January 2015 Posted 21 January 2015 This one is for MrRandomnSilly.....Come On Geoff who is it?? Don't know, haven't asked, not fussed anyway, haven't read the articles and don't intend to, sorry I can't help pal.
whoareyaaa Posted 21 January 2015 Posted 21 January 2015 its Paul Dickov has to be. Was involved in the la manga obviously booze and drugs, played with some great players probably referring to his last days at Man city in 2008, its around his era.
Guest Electric Yetis Posted 21 January 2015 Posted 21 January 2015 I'm certain it's Matt Piper. I have just read all of them and he has put a couple of those stories on his twitter page a few years ago. Especially the one when he was away on international duty with England youngsters and Sunderland appointed Howard Wilkinson. He made a remark about how much of a tosser Wilkinson was accoridng to others who knew him. One of the England coaches fed this back to Wilkinson.

I think this guy says he was playing a few years after he left City. And he 'wasn't the youngest' when he made his debut. So I think that rules Piper out. its Paul Dickov has to be. Was involved in the la manga obviously booze and drugs, played with some great players probably referring to his last days at Man city in 2008, its around his era. Dickov called La Manga 'the darkest time' of his career, whereas this guy says Leicester was the best time of his career. Plus he signed, or at least made his debut, at the same time as another player, which Dickov didn't. Carey, Whitlow, Ornondroyd, Marshall, Gee, Oakes... going to be one of them, I reckon.
Guest Electric Yetis Posted 22 January 2015 Posted 22 January 2015 I think this guy says he was playing a few years after he left City. And he 'wasn't the youngest' when he made his debut. So I think that rules Piper out. . Piper played his final game for Sunderland in 2005, 3 and a half years after leaving City. As I said Piper posted a couple of those stories almost word for on his twitter account 2 or 3 years back. I think when he says he wasn't the youngest to make his debut he means his own age rather than in comparison to the rest of the squad. He was 20 when he made his City debut. Not exactly early.
Guest Electric Yetis Posted 22 January 2015 Posted 22 January 2015 I know I'm probably talking to myself on this but here's a quote from Piper taken from a Sunderland site. 'Howard Wilkinson came strolling in with Steve Cottrill and stood quite and motionless infront of us all, u cuda heard a pin drop... ' 'Cottrill was clearly upset and Howard began to speak.............. Everyone knew it was a a important moment, room was deftly quiet!' 'Howard, took a deep breath and said.... "I've been fired as the Manager of the football....." And before he finished his sentence......... ' 'Tom Peeters exploded in to raptures of applause and whooping!! Shouting GOOG, GOOD GET IN THERE, GOOD RIDDANCE , GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ' 'Wilko wasn't amused, but can't recall them really saying anything, a few players laughed,a few we're also gobsmackd & some went mad Read more: http://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/matt-piper.746294/#ixzz3PaQyMzQl
