I've just watched the bit in prison break where they reckon they've raised this chaps cheek bones and given him a nose job or whatever to disguise him.

Obviously all you need to do is kidnap Kumar Sangakkara, do a number on his face, have a whip round to give him a few million to pretend he was born and raised in St Marks and Robert's your father's brother.

We'd only ruin him.

I'm afraid you're incorrect. The laws of cricket prevent a bowler from bending his elbow more than 15 degrees during his delivery and there are no restrictions on shoulder/arm position.

It's horrible to look at, but his action is completely legal and, when analysed, has one of the smallest degrees of elbow bend.

That's pretty much it. It is totally legal...it just doesn't look like a cricket delivery.

It's 5 games, you can't judge people on five games.

This World Cup Coetzer scored a brilliant 156 against Bangladesh, a decent 70 odd v England and then 25 V Afghanistan, 0 v Sri Lanka and 1 v New Zealand. He's decent championship player but there are ten players I'd have ahead of him in the peaking order. KOB has made 0,1, 24, 48 and 50 and averages less than 30 in County Cricket.

Our players our nothing special but they are still clearly better than the affiliate nations best batsmen.

Based purely on statistics you're right. My question however remains the same: if they're so superior, why did they not bring it for the big occasion in the same was that these Associate batsmen did? Why did they fall apart so horribly and actually cause this question to be asked in the first place, I wonder?

I'd take Kevin O'Brien in the middle order over Morgan any day and would be willing to give Coetzer at least a trial based on this tournament. Though Stokes deserves a good run in the side too.

He has far too much flair for us, we need a good, solid number 3 who'll knock a nice 50 from 80 balls on our way to 255-7.

Or we'll play him when we've been knocked out in a no-risk policy.

Well sometimes they do, we have won an International T20 and got to the final of the ICC trophy in the last five years, not bad really is it? We just seem to be utter cack whenever we arrive at a World Cup. I'd like to see Coetzer try and claim a regular spot in his county side before picking him for England. Same with Kevin O' Brien.

One minute we are saying we need players who are playing IPL, Big Bash etc then next some are saying they'd give a shot to players who barely get a game in our own T20 competition.

Haq sent home by Scotland.

Crying about not getting in the team because of the colour of your skin doesn't really work when you hold the record number of caps.

I've seen it done at club level. Tragic.

Anyone hardcore enough to get up to watch a dead rubber against Afghanistan at 3am?

I've had a look at the data (1 win, four losses, rigid 11 in the batting order, 90% short balls in the last ten overs, 70% loss rate in ODI's since Moores came back) and decided not to, just wait for Bob Willis to tell it like it is and Mooresy + any player to say we're hurting and will put it right in the next World Cup.

Just woken up I guess we've done ok with the ball, but what are we learning by putting Anderson and Broad to work under grey skies, would much rather have seen Finn in, and Root used as a front line bowler, I will credit them with bowling Bopara he's a frustrating player but I think he has been misused by England someone who can score big and can bowl, but is used so sparingly and has seemingly not been trusted to bowl for a while.

Not saying Bopara is the key to this side clicking but you look at how many bowling options other nations have and how deep they bat with Bopara alongside Root and Ali we should have 20 overs of bowling and some serious batting firepower we need to get over this fear of being tonked around it is the modern ODI game it doesn't matter who is bowling to AB de V or Sangakarra or Gayle they can do that to anyone especially in a power play what we need to do is get someone in who can work with the bowlers in how to out think the batsman and change it up.

Let Jimmy retire from ODIs keep him for tests he has a particular skill set which has always been more effective in the high pressure test environment, same with Broad but his batting used to be an asset, not so much recently. Stokes should be back in the side, although he only seems to perform in Aussie conditions. Not really sure what do about the batting there is enough ability there but we just don't get the one day format any more ever since power plays were introduced they have always turned into a procession of English wickets.

My team for the next ODI

Hales

Bell

Taylor

Buttler

Root

Ali

?1

Stokes

Jordan

?2

Finn

I think you need Buttler higher up the order but we can't be afraid to change it, he is our most devastating batsman and if we make a good opening partnership we need him in soon, if we lose a couple of wickets early then save him and get Root and Taylor in to scamper singles. Hales is an opener and whilst I like the Ali experiment he is just as likely to give his wicket away as get a decent score.

?1 originally I put Bopara in here but I feel he has been ineffective too often for England and only looks really good with the bat in a lost cause high pressure situations he crumbles we need a player like him but just not him, I'm open to suggestions.

?2 I'm not sure who would be best as our other strike bowler, Woakes is decent but not really effective enough in either bowling or batting I did consider him for ?1 but he's not good enough with the bat. This is where we need a player like Dernbach was supposed to be, a death bowler with all the variations up his sleeve, unfortunately he lacked the accuracy to pull them off. Any thoughts?

Anyway enough of my early morning ramblings

Nice to get a consolation win today, further shame would have been unbearable.

This is a wonderful watch - brilliant advert put together by Sportsbet in Australia lol Unfortunately fell foul of the regulators because of the last bit.

Unbelievably bad from Sri Lanka today. JP Duminy with a hat trick.

SL made a total and utter Horlicks of batting first. Still, if you'd pick a leading side to crumble chasing this kind of total in World Cups it's the Saffers.

It'll either be a procession that's done inside of 15 overs or a grandstand finish.

Probably in a position where they'll have to bowl Malinga's overs early.

Pitch looks ok still. Saffers shouldn't have a problem.

Posted

Only chance SL have is if they get AB early. Otherwise he'll either win it himself or take the Saffers close enough so that those after him can.

If they're 40-4 or something after 10, then we might have a game on our hands.
