Voll Blau Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Overnight England poised to reach 500+ Battling collapse of village cricket proportions means theyll probably drop short of 400 Good guess.
fuchsntf Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Ummm, last 5 wkts going for 58. Not good. BUTLER, and BROAD , need to show more nous. Both but especially Butler should be given freehand like Prior, to go for it. Not hang around, with 0 after 10 -20 balls.Thats for the 1st 5 batsman.
StanSP Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Yup, probably over 60 yrs the best team/duo catch, in any form of cricket I have seen.Every season in the modern period show that the athleticism, and nano seconds thinking come reaction has improved just in 5 years, in light-year jumps. One great catch after another, just gets beter and better. Fielding is now worth watching and waiting for., Typed in 'best double cricket catch' in Google. This was the first hit and I'm suitably impressed!

And nice to see an understated celebration too, no doubt other players (you know who they are) would have ran round the field pointing at themselves.

Bert Posted 14 April 2015 Posted 14 April 2015 Watching Chanderpaul bat is on par as bad as having to put up with the mongy Indian fans
Guest MattP Posted 15 April 2015 Posted 15 April 2015 Watching Chanderpaul bat is on par as bad as having to put up with the mongy Indian fans Think he's only hanging around as his son will be soon be playing and I think wants to be the first father/son combo in a test team.Although he's still got more quality than most of the Windies side put together.

A mate who played with him in the Derbyshire leagues reckons he bats just like his dad too.
Corky Posted 15 April 2015 Posted 15 April 2015 To average over 50 in Tests for the West Indies over the last 15 years is some going, incredible batsman.
Guest MattP Posted 15 April 2015 Posted 15 April 2015 A mate who played with him in the Derbyshire leagues reckons he bats just like his dad too. There was never any chance of him being any other way While I'm at it I want to express my disgust at Sky Sports, for the first time in history this weekend they didn't show any action from the County Championship, yet had live television coverage of that ghastly advertising competition from India, thought that was a huge, huge shame. Only Eoin Morgan should hang his head more, to represent this country as a captain and be out there playing that instead of being around the game at home is appalling. To average over 50 in Tests for the West Indies over the last 15 years is some going, incredible batsman. Definitely, one of the greats of the game.
Voll Blau Posted 15 April 2015 Posted 15 April 2015 Weird how Sky Sports don't do regular live coverage of CC games. Not like they've got anything better to stick on during weekday daytimes is it.

Have you seen the England side from his debut game?

They should at least have highlight shows after each set of games. No wonder there's little enthusiasm, a couple of hours a week showing the best bits might increase interest and knowledge.
Corky Posted 15 April 2015 Posted 15 April 2015 Definitely, one of the greats of the game. He's similar to Kallis in many ways, not really given the status he deserves compared to other greats like Warne, Murali, Tendulkar, Dravid, Sangakkara etc. An absolute prized wicket.
Simmo86 Posted 16 April 2015 Posted 16 April 2015 Going well now. Just a question of if we can bowl them out.
Donut Posted 16 April 2015 Posted 16 April 2015 This is absolutely S**T cricket from England YOU DO NOT need a lead of 450 for gods sake, theyve been batting on for a needless amount of time, its ridiculous and its costing us overs to get them in and bowl them out. They could have declared at 350, theres no way in the world they would try and chase the runs, theyve batted over after over needlessly. Pathetic.

If we can't bowl them out in 130 overs, over four and a bit sessions, then that's pathetic.
leicsmac Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 If we can't bowl them out in 130 overs, over four and a bit sessions, then that's pathetic. This. Why must people be so hyperbolic? If we can't get them all out in 130 overs, then another 5 or 6 (or even 10-12) is hardly likely to help.
ealingfox Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 Tredwell is toilet. Made hard work of it but the new ball should be enough to see off these. that really is some outstanding work from whoever brought the Leicester flag with them. Been in almost the perfect position at that end for all 5 days. I doff my cap to the perpetrator(s).
marko Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 Burley Lara gets Ramdin to become England's all time leading Test wicket taker. Fantastic achievement!

Stupid comment central, especially when you look at the situation in the game now Everything scored after 370 was a waste of time. Dont think they wouldnt want another 6 or 7 overs now then? If you dont, youre very idiot.

Not really, as if the target was 370 they'd be in with a great chance of chasing it down and winning the match. As far as declarations go it was more than reasonable.

As far as declarations go it was more than reasonable. It was crap all round. Batting for numerous overs with no intent to move the game on quick enough 370 would have been enough. Theyve never tried to chase the runs.
