Aus Fox Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 What is it about captains called Morgan? Time for a new calimity Morgan thread...
Gary Eatfood Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 England are so boring and predictable to watch. Sure they will probably win just about but why do we play in this manner? We play the same way in ODI's as we did 15 years ago, cricket has moved on. I agree. We're regressing but we've certainly got a job on to win this now.
surrifox Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Morgan has been a fiasco - he and Moores should just F**k off
cambridgefox Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 When you struggle against teams like Bangladesh you know you have serious problems. We don't deserve to go through, even against Scotland apart from Ali we were scared to go for it.Bell thought he was in a test match. English cricket has problems.
Finnegan Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Fail to get out of your group in the football, fail to get out of your group in the cricket, this is all brilliantly set up for the rugby.
Gary Eatfood Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Fail to get out of your group in the football, fail to get out of your group in the cricket, this is all brilliantly set up for the rugby. And England are in the 'Group of Death' in the rugby too!
Alexikokopops Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Fail to get out of your group in the football, fail to get out of your group in the cricket, this is all brilliantly set up for the rugby. The most comical thing about this is that it's set up in such a way that, as a top 8 side, you have to be REALLY bad to go out at the group stages. If we manage this we really are awful. I still reckon we'll win this with no real dramas (beyond the couple of quick wickets we've already had). I was about to write "how do you like that Fate!" and we went and lost another wicket as I was typing lol
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 People threw alot of shit at Alistair Cook pretty much blaming him for our terrible ODI performances, but it's much broader than that. Our mentality of playing steady cricket and not taking risks just isn't good enough anymore. The top 6 teams in the world don't set such structured targets, they just whack it and see how many runs they get.
IOWFOX Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Why dont we ever show abit of intent. When bell got out, we should have sent Buttler in and take the power play. If he gets out after hitting 30 odd off 12 then the pressure would have be back on Bangladesh. Instead we send in that donkey Morgan who gets **** all again. Just inviting the collapse on ourselves.
Finnegan Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 I know they're not a top test side but how good are Bangladesh at odi level? It seems a lot of nations seem to be pretty specialised in it while England don't seem to have a clue how to transfer skills from test to short format?

It seems a lot of nations seem to be pretty specialised in it while England don't seem to have a clue how to transfer skills from test to short format? They probably give a better shout of themselves than tests but we should still be able to play better against them than we currently are. They're low down in the rankings but that is, in part, due to the fact that playing the top teams disproportionately rewards you and the top 8 can't really be arsed to play teams outside the top 8. We just don't treat ODIs with any kind of importance and then seem surprised when other teams who do are much better, more innovative, and inevitably tonk us.

It seems a lot of nations seem to be pretty specialised in it while England don't seem to have a clue how to transfer skills from test to short format? They've won 4 ODI series in the last 5 years but two of those were against Zimbabwe. They beat us in the last World Cup although that's no measure of how good a side they are.
ealingfox Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Proper captain's innings from Morgan there, great to watch. Inspiring stuff.
Sir Fynwy Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Guess the England players want to get home for a break before the county game restarts
Fox in the North Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Sorry if this is a daft question. I only follow cricket every now and then so I don't know much about it, but has Bell ever been tried at captain? He always seems to make a decent score, and has been in the national team for a fair while now.
Super_horns Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Woakes and Buttler giving it a go but too late I feel.. Like the football out even before we've finished the group stages.
leicsmac Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 This, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call the Hope Spot. It involves these two getting to around 240 with about four overs to spare...and then it all falls apart again.

Guest MattP Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 That was a pretty sensational partnership in the circumstances, surely we can drag ourselves over the line here.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 That's that then. Buttler batting at 7 is an absolute joke.
leicsmac Posted 9 March 2015 Posted 9 March 2015 Bloody 'ell!! That's your fault! I sincerely hope that I turn out to be wrong.
