ealingfox Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 Moores Out. What a complete fvcking embarrassment.
Donut Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 If Windies had the extra overs for declaring early they'd have chased down your 370, or 350 you suggested yesterday and we'd have lost. should have bowled them out for 350, 370 was absolutely plenty, 438 was ridiculous
marko Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 should have bowled them out for 350, 370 was absolutely plenty, 438 was ridiculous Are you actually watching? There's nothing in the pitch and the ball isn't swinging. Not exactly easy to knock a team over in these conditions.
Donut Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 Are you actually watching? There's nothing in the pitch and the ball isn't swinging. Not exactly easy to knock a team over in these conditions. Yeah im watching and its crap Youre talking about knocking over guys like Devon Smith opening and averaging in the 20s, likes of Blackwood who will mow at anything. They needed more time to bowl them out, theyre not trying to chase the runs. England should have got on with it yesterday. They faffed about just like they did in 2008

If this declaration was as poor as you're suggesting the Sky and TMS commentary teams would be laying into Cook and Moores, but it's simply not the case. Whether you agree or not, a chase of 350/370 would have resulted in the Windies winning.
marko Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 This is absolutely S**T cricket from England They could have declared at 350, theres no way in the world they would try and chase the runs, theyve batted over after over needlessly. RUBBISH Look on the bright side, we'd have just lost if you were captain and be faced with having to win the final two games to win the series.
ealingfox Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 Disgrace. Moores has to go and take Cook with him. Absolute shite.
Donut Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 Look on the bright side, we'd have just lost if you were captain and be faced with having to win the final two games to win the series. None of the runs meant anything, because they wouldnt have chased. In fact theyd have probably lost by trying to chase becuase they cant accumulate runs Should have batted better, should have bowled better, and yeah 350 might have been too low but 370 was definitely enough
Donut Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 It was absolute crap from start to finish If it wasnt for Bell and the middle order we would have been shelled out by one of the worst bowling attacks youll ever see for nothing in the 1st innings They let the bowling drift in the Windies 1st innings during the Chanderpaul Blackwood partnership and gave Blackwood three lives They didnt score quickly enough in the 2nd innings Then they didnt bowl them out.

In fact theyd have probably lost by trying to chase becuase they cant accumulate runs Should have batted better, should have bowled better, and yeah 350 might have been too low but 370 was definitely enough That's exactly what they've just done! Accumulate 350 runs! They were hardly going to go gung-ho from ball 1. Like most teams, they'd have batted steadily until the final session then had a tilt at the total if it was reachable. Do you really believe that extra 20 runs would have been a problem with all the extra overs they'd have had. Credit to the Windies for batting well and batting out for the draw. In fact,, if it hadn't been for a few reckless shots earlier they''d probably only be 5 down.
Super_horns Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 Shame Anderson cannot celebrate his own personal achievement with a win. Fair play to the West Indies.

Its that simple. If theyd have got on with it, they could have got 390-400 if they wanted and had more overs to bowl them out. They didnt. I aint interested in debating with you, so dont quote my post. Do one.

Deary me! You do realise we tried to bowl them out, don't you?! Conversely, they'd have more overs to chase less runs on a flat pitch, with an old ball, against a tiring attack! It's not like a new ball was just around the corner that we could have blown them away with had we declared earlier. Anyway, as you so eloquently put it I'll "Do one". All the best.
Voll Blau Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 Great work from Holder to be fair. Love his "fvck your game of one-hand-one bounce, I'm getting a ton and I'm doing it by hitting over the top" attitude. Batting on proved to be the right choice, though I really question what Trott's doing in the side. Think we should be praising the Windies for saving the game in this instance, rather than being overly harsh on England for not sealing it.

Lyth should be given a shot at opening when you take into account his CC runs over recent seasons.
Voll Blau Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 Hear, hear! Lyth should be given a shot at opening when you take into account his CC runs over recent seasons. Yep, baffling he's not being given a run especially as he plays for a fashionable county!
ScouseFox Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 i don't care much for cricket anymore since we went shit at it, but thought i'd just drop in to say that jimmy anderson has always seemed absolutely sound as fvck to me. well in jimmy. i take it from the amount of angry posts we ain't doing well so my interest in this series is over before it has even started. peace.
RowlattsFox Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Worrying that our bowling attack with 4 seamers and a spinner can't get 20 wickets against the West Indies. 2 of the wickets we did get came from a 6th bowler. It was a dead pitch though. Credit to the West Indies, not usually a side that play with patience and determination to save a game.

Much credit to the West Indies especially as some of their more high profile players have IPL commitments so are not currently playing test cricket. A move which makes them a less exciting but probably more durable side and some of those who've been given chances recently have blossomed. England should have scored quicker second innings though. There was not enough urgency and I feel the captaincy lent itself to not losing over a real desire to win Well done to Anderson. Nowhere near the bowler he was but still probably the best swing bowler in the world in the right conditions. Long may he continue. Still the first bowler on the team sheet for me.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Lack of quality spinners in English cricket is a huge problem, Tredwell hardly took a Championship wicket last season yet finds himself in the England team, poor.
theessexfox Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Last year I played in the stadium where the next test is held
Guest MattP Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 I can't believe what I'm reading here, some people either are talking through their wallets or didn't watch the match. At a push you could say we should have put the foot down a bit more, but apart from that I don't see what anyone has done wrong, the bowling changes were good, the fields were extremely aggressive, we just ran into an excellent innings from Holder (Rix is spot on as well, what a player he's going to be) and possibly the flattest pitch I've ever seen on a day 5. As Marko says, if it wasn't for Smith and Blackwood having brainfarts they probably would have seen out the day far more comfortably. Declare with 350 to chase with 4 1/2 sessions to go and that wicket and I make the Windies favourites to win it.
