Time to sign some defenders?

As always we never know what's going on behind the scenes when it comes to transfers, i'd like to believe that Nige has got his fingers in some pukka pies, however, I feel that a lot of time has been spent trying to push this kramaric deal through (hopefully worth it) but we have less than half of the window left to buy an experienced yet pacey centre back and a consistent left back. Who should we buy with the time left?

Pearson and staff can work on other deals at the same time as Kramaric deal.

No way! Football managers cannot multitask!  ;)

Defending wasn't our problem today. It was our lack of ambition, appalling midfield and toothless strike-force.

A midfielder then?

Agree. I think defensively we were ok, stood off Stoke and gave them probably a little too much space but as a whole weren't bad. Konch is clearly the weak link- when will the Konch lovers & Pearson see this?!

We require better CMs than defenders IMO

What was wrong with the defense today.

Barely anything in the first half and a couple of halves in the second.

Settled by a great Bojan goal.

But, It does need to be bolstered. Not just because of this game though.

If we don't sign an LB then I give up. I'm a huge fan of Pearson but how and why we're persisting with Konch is beyond me. IMHO he was the weakest member of our first team last season so why he is out there getting torn a new one each week at the highest level I have no idea.

The goal came from a brilliant strike outside the box, I don't think the defence did a lot wrong. I can only remember 1 other shot on target.

He weren't even getting in the squad last season lol Schlupp was more regular at LB and was solid there.

Konch is terrible and has been weak link all season, how and why he gets in each week is beyond me especially when he wasn't good enough to be playing in the championship last season

She spine if team is still weak in two if the 3 areas

Midfield is still championship quality they just are not good enough , engines too small and missing the game driving that's needed in that sector

The goal shows we have a very average defence , all stood off him in the box and too much room was able to slot home

New boy looks ok , makes runs

knocky works very hard at the moment

Wasn't a great performance

But once again wasn't terrible

Splash the cash !!!!

Both stood off him and gave him too much room to get shot off

Should have been much tighter

Can get away with it in championship

Not at this level

It's pretty simple.

The defence are a disgrace to football the majority of the time...

The midfield have to compensate and drop back (But aren't good enough anyway)

The strikers get NO service.

To have absolutely ANY hope of staying up we NEED

A Centreback - Corluka or Davies

Left back - Ollson?

Battling Central midfielder - Yacob and mulumbu are out of contract in summer last time I checked (not sure if they will get a pulis contract)

Fail to strengthen in those 3 positions we are down. No argument.

Conceded one goal from open play in five games

No doubt players being worked on, but it's tough to get players who will improve especially in January.

And as for comment above about strikers getting no service

We've created enough chances to win 25 games in the past few games

Usual reactionary nonsense after one poor performance

Without a decent defence the midfield have to drop back, and If you think giving bojan that much space is not a crime I am shocked.

good defenders can read players.

Konch played 34 times last season - nearly all starts. Not too bad for a guy who can't get into the squad!

I see it every week why don't we close down players , you need to keep the pressure up on teams in the prem it forces mistakes when you sit back like we do we let in goals , defenders need to be brought all in all lost to a team that wanted it more I thought it was a crap display of football from our lads onto the next one !

A LB is definitely needed! I didn't see today's game so can't comment on koncheskys performance but in other games the amount of times he needlessly gives it away is astonishing.

We might not be conceding many but that's because the defence are set to defend in FM terms. No support from the full backs has taken away that extra threat we used to have when De Laet and Schlupp used to play full back.

A horribly weak central midfield partnership resulted in poor distribution from the back as well.
