Team for the rest of the season

Assuming that Riyad is back and We sign Huth. Who do you play from now on.

In my view Mahrez needs to play and is our most valuable player. But I kinda want Albrighton as well in that position. You can't really move Albrighton to the left either where Schlupp plays as he's been invaluable this season.

I also kinda want Schlupp back in defense.

               (1)           Hamer

De Laet     Wasilewski      Huth    Sclupp

                    Cambiasso   James

         Mahrez         Kramaric      Albrighton

                               Ulloa

              (2)           Hamer

De Laet     Wasilewski      Huth    Konchesky

                    Cambiasso   James

         Mahrez         Kramaric      Schlupp

                               Ulloa

               (3)           Hamer

De Laet     Wasilewski      Huth    Konchesky

                    Cambiasso   James

         Albrighton       Mahrez      Schlupp

                              Kramaric

Any of them? What do you play?

Pearson will never pick any of these teams by choice.

What has kramaric done to impress you so much to warrant a start

He hasn't done alot.

However he hasn't been given a chance, and he certainly hasn't been given any service. We should make a judgment on Kramaric once our Midfield is back to strength and Mahrez is on the pitch. Then we can have a pop at him if he's not scoring.

Pretty redundant thread considering it won't be the same squad each match. Different opposition require different tactics and not to mention suspensions and injuries which will no doubt be inflicted on us.

I'd have thought the team picked itself. Leave aside tactical tinkering and over-reactions to one half-decent displays, or freak statistics that say we do better with Nuge or Hammond or god knows who else bumbling in the middle of the park.

One of our goalkeepers has kept the vast bulk of our clean sheets, so Hamer gets the nod.

Simpson has been far better than De Laet at right back, so he gets the nod.

Morgan has had a few slip-ups but he's our captain and we don't want to rock the boat too much, so he's in.

Was has been our best CB, so until that changes he's in ahead of Huth, or Moore (who, by the way, has been made to look far worse than he is by our shocking CMs and full backs).

Konchesky and De Laet have both been consistently awful, Schlupp has been good in attack, and in his defensive duties, and has done a job at LB so he should be first choice.

Cambiasso was one of the world's best midfielders, he's still only 34 and looks like he hasn't lost it, so he's obviously in.

James has been our most consistent CM over the past three seasons, and he's got the work-rate which King/Drinkwater miserably lack, and the mobility that Hammond lacks, so he's an easy pick.

We appear to do best with a 4-4-1-1 or 4-4-2 so we're going to play wingers. Albrighton has been the best over the past month and was bought to provide service for Ulloa, so obviously we pick him.

Mahrez is our best player, so he gets the nod even if it's out of position on the left. In the meantime, if Schlupp's at LB then we have Knockaert who's left-footed and has done well. Any option other than Vardy out wide, though every LCFC fan on the planet could have figured that out sooner than Pearson.

And we've spent 17m on two strikers, one of which is by far our top scorer, so they both go in. I mean, let's be serious here - Nugent and Vardy have been our 6th / 7th most-played players this season, and have two open play goals between them. Do we want to stay up or don't we?

So play that incredibly obvious side and incredibly obvious system. Allow players in attacking roles to build up understandings with each other in the same way you do with defensive players and only change it if you absolutely need to. If that means a few extra training sessions to get people in shape (I heard a very interesting story this week from someone who is definitely in the know who said our training routine is probably demanding by second tier standards, but very easy-going by top flight standards) then so be it. Demand more from your players, be less tolerant of players who don't do a job, and recognise the fact that we don't have the luxury of hoping that Andy King miraculously becomes a passable PL player (he wasn't even an especially good FLC player), or that Vardy or Nugent or Konchesky or De Laet or Drinkwater or Hammond (yes, I know, I know) are going to suddenly figure out what is required to play at this level.

Any ****er who can play LB

Mahrez

Hammond

Cambiasso

Schlupp

Kramaric

Ulloa

That will be the side that would start the most. A left back is so desperately needed, we simply can't go on without one.

I'd fancy Mahrez, Hammond, Cambiasso and Schlupp as a midfield 4 over anyone at our level in the table.

Do they really require different tactics and line-ups to the extent we've gone for? Against Stoke we left 17m worth of attackers on the bench and failed to score. Today we took them off in one fell swoop just as we were bringing on the guy who was signed to supply the goals for one of those players, who is also our top scorer. And neither of them had had a decent chance.

And what about before - did we need to drop Mahrez earlier in the season? Or Albrighton for Stoke? Or Knockaert for today? Or Cambiasso on all the occasions we've dropped him? Or Hamer?

Team selections have raised eyebrows in most of our games this season, and on the vast bulk of those occasions we've gone on to lose, and deservedly. You have to wonder whether we'd be better off with a computer picking our side. Value of player + goals (scored for attackers, conceded for defenders) + assists given + average rating on Foxestalk = pick him. Would that have worked out any worse for us? There are guys out there who only know football from their 9 hour nightly session on Football Manager who could have done better than our manager.

Are those other sides who are doing better than us in the relegation dogfight, including the two who were below us last season, doing the same thing to the extent that we are?

And this isn't an over-reaction. We deserved to lose today, more heavily than we did. Forget the offside or the 'if only x could have done better' - if Man U had made the most of their attacks we'd have been humiliated. If we keep losing games narrowly but consistently, then we'll still be humiliated. I'm not for sacking the boss, but he has to grow up and become a proper PL manager if we're going to have a chance.

That side is definitely better than the variations our manager goes for, but I'd argue for Albrighton in, Schlupp at LB, and James over Hammond. I know we've done well with Hammond in the side, but he's not actually played especially well. And there's a reason why 32 year olds playing at this level for the first time are playing at this level for the first time.

De Laet? No Cambiasso? No Albrighton? And no Ulloa, who is by far and away our top scorer? That looks like a Nige line-up to me.

whether he scores or not, we look a much better team wirh Nugent in it.

How much of that is down to Nugent, and how much is down to the system we play when he plays?

If someone else can play the number 10, which we're led to believe Kramaric can, then let him. Especially if he's worth 9m.

I don't understand your point. Do we change the system when Nugent comes on? Or if you're saying the system is suited to Nugent why would that be the case if he comes on off the bench?

I'm sure Kramaric is a quality player, no doubt, but I'd play him off the bench until he can prove himself. Like it or not, Nugent has performed well in that role, so until he underperforms why drop him?

It's either De Laet or Konchesky and De Laet's looked decent there. Hammond's better defensively than Cambiasso and for all the brilliant passes he's attempted to make we've not actually benefited from any of them, and James has been our best midfielder all season. You'd have Albrighton over Mahrez? Or you'd get rid of Schlupp to shift Mahrez over to the left and put Albrighton on the right? No Ulloa because he's a lump half the time and we instantly look better whenever Nugent's on the pitch in the position I've put him in. If I put Nugent there and left Ulloa up top you'd rightly ask why Kramaric isn't in there, and yes he apparently can play that position but, even with the lack of service from midfield, he didn't do anything with the ball whenever he did get near it, which can't be said about Nugent when he came on so I'd rather Nugent play there were he was playing well rather than waiting a few matches before everybody decides to like him again because the alternative isn't as effective.

Not really much point as Nigel will never play my team selection. Like the bloke and want him to stay, but in fed up of Albrighton being left on the bench and king and drunk being our midfield!

Nonetheless

..RDL......Wasyl......Huth........Schlupp...

............Cambiasso.....James....................

..Mahrez...................................Albrighton...

......................Kramaric................................

..........................Ulloa..................................

Bench: Schwarzer, Upson, Simpson, Hammond, Knockaert, Chris Wood.
