psychonaut Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Albrighton can play on the left wing.... No that he should right now - but an option if Schlupp turns to dog sh1t
Silverdaz Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 a Big fat NO, Schlupp and Mahrez are our two best wingers
Silverdaz Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 No not over Mahrez. Schlupp also justifiably keeps him out of team on merit imo. But as for Vardy, a struggling, out of form striker, keeping a premiership proven right winger out of his natural position, now that begs belief! Albrighton (or even Knockaert) should certainly be starting until Mahrez is back! You can see why NP did this though he put our two fastest players out on the wing against United in the hope of doing them on the counter, unfortunately it didnt work
SecretPro Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 I'd like to see Mahrez drop into the middle. if he has to take a place on the wing though I'd push him ahead of Albrighton. If we are going to try and mix things up and go out all guns blazing I think maybe bring in Albrighton on the left ahead of Schlupp, both players can play the ball along the ground, blus Albrighton can swing in pin point crosses for Ulloa. Either way, Mahrez needs to be in - the only bit of excitement I can muster right now is the thought of some mahrez through balls to Kramaric.
thybluefox Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Mahrez Left, Albrighton right. Mahrez has been playing on the left for Algeria and picked up a goal and a couple of assists over the last few games, Albrighton has to be on the right as he's the only player we have that looks like he can regularly get a decent ball into the box. Harsh on Jeff maybe, but he'd still be an excellent impact player off the bench.
Babylon Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 This is the same Albrighton that everyone was calling a poor signing and rubbish early in the season isn't it? Couple of decent sub appearances and he's suddenly the second coming. More than deserving to be ahead of Vardy... but the others, not so sure. I'd play him this week from the start purely to get Mahrez back up to speed with us.
Spicer Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 I personally would play Mahrez in the centre with Albrighton on the right and schlupp on the left.
Nod.E Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 I present to you the 4-4-1-1 / 3-4-3 formation. 4-4-1-1: Let Cambi and James sit. Nugent will provide link-up ---------------------_M.S __Simpson__Huth__Wasyl__SchluppAlbrighton_Cambiasso_James_Mahrez_________Nugent________________Krama 3-4-3 Mahrez has the ability on the left to cut inside or go out wide. Schlupp to provide support on the over-lap when appropriate. (If Mahrez tucks in, this creates a 3-4-3 in attacking situations) ---------------- -----_M.S _--------_Simpson_Huth-_WasylAlbrighton_Cambiasso_James---Schlupp____-----_Nugent____Mahrez______-___-----------------_Krama For me, it provides great balance. I think Cambiasso struggles in a two, so Nugent's support would prove valuable - plus Nuge has looked sharp of late. You've got chances right across the team with Schlupp on the overlap, Albrighton's service, and Mahrez' invention. When you factor in Nuge's link-up, I think the side will be in a position to provide Kramaric the chances he needs to feed on. It maintains solidity, while giving us the fluidity we need going forward.Nigel - If you want more details on the above formation, drop me a DM and we'll negotiate a price for my consultation services.

It is interesting how a player can be perceived to get better by spending most of his time on the bench - its not the first time its happened. I do think though I've seen enough from him recently to warrant a starting place, considering no one else is supplying our forwards sufficiently.
AdamN Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 I think Mahrez and Schlupp both deserve to start, so I voted no, but I wouldn't be adverse to seeing Schlupp LB, Mahrez LM, Albrighton RM.
Clever Fox Posted 3 February 2015 Posted 3 February 2015 Schlupp left back, Mahrez left wing, Albrighton right wing. Pace, flair and technique. Yes I'd go with this and also with Delaet or James behind Albrighton on the right. That way we would have pace down each wing. The ability to interchange between them on the wing and width to provide the out ball when the defence is under pressure.

Albrighton (or even Knockaert) should certainly be starting until Mahrez is back! Pacey players to play on the counter against a very good possession side with some of the world's best attackers Personally I'd have favoured a park the buss approach for 60mins before bringing the pace on from the bench to try a steal a win
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Simple. Schlupp at LB Mahrez left wing, Albrighton right wing.
cc_star Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Simple. Schlupp at LB Mahrez left wing, Albrighton right wing. As I said ages ago, just have them swapping wings. However, leaves a real lack of option off the bench, although maybe going 424 very late on with Ulloa, Huth and two others up front
Babylon Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Simple. Schlupp at LB Mahrez left wing, Albrighton right wing. I would argue it's not that simple, Schlupp was more than suspect at left back in the championship. He's also been one of our best outlets of late so to suddenly relegate him to defence could diminish that threat. If he'd had more game time at left back than he has then I would be more inclined to try it, but he's not and for me that's a big worry up against decent wingers.
SecretPro Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 So we all know the team we would like to pick....anyone want to hazzard a guess at what the team WILL be? Hamer Simpson Was Wes De Laet Vardy Drinkwater James Schlupp Kramaric Ulloa Bench: Scwartzer, Cambiaso, Hammond, Mahrez, Albrighton, Nugent, Konchesky
ScouseFox Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 schlupp looked completely clueless as a left back when we were playing teams like ipswich and watford. if we play him at left back (having been our best attacking outlet over the last month) we've completely lost the plot and are asking to go down.
Guest Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Schlupp LB, Albrighton/Mahrez/Knockaert RW Mahrez/Schlupp/Knockaert LW Preference for the ones stated first in each position. Wouldnt mind see how Knockaert goes in a Central Attacking MF role.
MPH Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 My answer to this is Yes, He's the only player we have that consistently puts in decent crosses. However we can't not have mahrez and his jinking movement opening up play. Sorry Jeff, but you need to be rotated with Albrighton. I think Jeff has such potential but he just cannot cross or shoot on target consistently, he's been one of our better performers recently but everytime albrighton has been brought on the pitch he's changed the game or atleast taken the team up a notch, and somebody needs to drop for him to play. I really don't know what more this guy can do before he's given a chance, we are treating him the same as villa at the moment. He played well yesterday and his assist was top draw at a hard angle Kramaric and Nugent upfront, Albrighton and mahrez on the wings. Thoughts? Should he be starting? Who gets dropped for him if you think he should? Lunacy
Stadt Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 I'd play Hamer Simpson Wasyl Huth RDL Cambiasso James Hammond Albrighton Mahrez Schlupp Ulloa Kramaric
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 schlupp looked completely clueless as a left back when we were playing teams like ipswich and watford. if we play him at left back (having been our best attacking outlet over the last month) we've completely lost the plot and are asking to go down. And he also looked completely fine against many more sides, whilst playing left back. So your point is? I'd have Schlupp at left back over Konch any day of the week, personally.
Dan Posted 4 February 2015 Posted 4 February 2015 Simple. Schlupp at LB Mahrez left wing, Albrighton right wing. That's got to be worth a try at some point. So we all know the team we would like to pick....anyone want to hazzard a guess at what the team WILL be? Hamer Simpson Was Wes De Laet Vardy Drinkwater James Schlupp Kramaric Ulloa Bench: Scwartzer, Cambiaso, Hammond, Mahrez, Albrighton, Nugent, Konchesky Wouldn't be against DD/James. They're a good partnership. Vardy on the wing however is just a complete waste.
