Deucalion Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 So two different people have told Rob Dorsett totally different things about Pearson. For him to go public with the info, he must have a lot of faith in his source. Here's a few interesting points. Stringer reported yesterday that Top's helicopter picked him up from the stadium after the game, so he is in England. Rob Dorsett reports that Susan Wheelen in is Bangkok having a high-level meeting about Pearson's future. What I am wondering is this: Is Top still behind Pearson and believes that, as the vice-chairman and man on the spot, he has the final decision on this? Is Wheelen in Bangkok talking to Vichai, the chairman, and possibly other Thai investors? Has the plug been pulled in Thailand and Top is unaware of this? All pure speculation, but about as accurate as what we are getting from Sky at the moment.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Here's a explanation. Rob Dorsett is a shit stirring cvnt.
st albans fox Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 maybe nige can be manager for the home games and someone else the away ones? or saturday matches for nige whilst midweek and sundays are the ther fella someone posted that sacking NP makes us a laughing stock. nope, this evenings shananigans do that. rob dorset didnt make it up
katieakita Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Well sky seem to have shut up and waiting for the club to make a statement
Webbo Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Maybe (speculation) The club haven't sacked him but he's resigned and there has been a mix up with the club not wanting the blame.
Happy Fox Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 If NP was sacked/resigned John Percy would be all over it he's quiet though.
st albans fox Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 whatever the end result on this, it isnt good for morale. clearly something has occurred or the club would have denied the story immediately. they must have had numerous calls from journo's when the story broke. the only thing that makes sense is that it was the middle of the night in thailand when it all kicked off. perhaps no one at the club wanted to make a statement till they had double checked with susan whelan who is out there meeting vichai. susan look like the type who sleeps deepiy! i always put my phone on silent when i am in the far east - otherwise you are kept awake by pings etc all night. i like this explanation for the delay. it makes more sense the more i think about it. of course, we can all speculate why susan is out there .....................
Tielemans63 Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Here's a explanation. Rob Dorsett is a shit stirring cvnt. That'll do for me.
lestajigs Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 If NP was sacked/resigned John Percy would be all over it he's quiet though. It's weired how nothing's come out saying he is still the manager though
Happy Fox Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 John PercyVerified account @John__Percy Understand Nigel Pearson will be in charge for #lcfc game at Arsenal
Vlad the Fox Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Could it be that pearson offered his resignation and sky only get that half of the story, the other half of the story being that after a top level meeting they get back in touch with Pearson stating that as far as they are concerned they want him to continue being the manager.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Top wanted 3 points at Arsenal and used the new manager syndrome to do so
5waller5 Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 My feeling is that NP resigned and was convinced to stay until after Tuesday and see how he feels after that.
sdb Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Whatever it is he'll be hanging by a thread right now. Hopefully this sparks a miraculous revival but the writing is surely on the wall after all this...
Deucalion Posted 8 February 2015 Author Posted 8 February 2015 Whatever it is he'll be hanging by a thread right now. Hopefully this sparks a miraculous revival but the writing is surely on the wall after all this... It depends on whether there was anything in it or not. If the board are fully behind him then it is business as usual.
st albans fox Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 It depends on whether there was anything in it or not. If the board are fully behind him then it is business as usual. If they are seriously not considering his future then they need to make a BIG statement to that effect. Otherwise the speculation will be there after every poor result. The one on the website is not a big statement . Far from it.
Out Foxed Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Top wanted 3 points at Arsenal and used the new manager syndrome to do so the old 'dead cat bounce'.
Deucalion Posted 8 February 2015 Author Posted 8 February 2015 It's been a real roller coaster tonight and I have gone from thinking it was best he had been sacked, to incredulity that Sky had got it wrong, to immense relief that he was still the manager, to confusion about how Sky could've got this so wrong. So...I don't know whether I am in a rational state of mind at the minute, but my gut feeling after all this is, unfortunately, he probably is on borrowed time. I suspect a defeat on Tuesday will be the pretext for letting him go.
VLC86 Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 I recon the owners saw the sky poll of 70% thought it was a bad idea and bottled it.

I don't think the club would've said there is no basis for it if they are on the verge of sacking him. Take some time to sort this out in my mind I think.

Take some time to sort this out in my mind I think. yeah its the other way around to what you originally said I think - I reckon he's in a stronger position now. If they did want him gone, he'd be gone. He'll be here til the end of the season at least now, surely. Plus now its pretty obvious that a) the vast majority of fans are behind him and b) there really are no decent alternative candidates out there for the job. RIdiculous evening, but cleared the air a bit, in a weird way. Could be a good thing. I'm really happy he's staying tbh, would have taken the club as a whole back 4-5 years if he'd gone imo
MooseBreath Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Pearson might have resigned over something to do with throttlegate, the owners wait to see the lie of the land regards any possible fallout from throttlegate, meanwhile np tells his staff he has offered his resignation, a few Chinese whispers later and it comes out that he has been sacked. Owners eventually reject the resignation.
Rincewind Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 It was a ploy to unerve the Arsenal players as they might think City were about to poach Wenger.
RedSoxUK Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Pearson signed a 3-year contract at the start of the season - no way did he resign over 'throttlegate', to him that was just a laugh. I suspect there's a billy bullshitter in the media department who suspected Pearson has been sacked because of the events, just passed along as fact. Look forward to reading an explanation, this is unfair on Pearson and the club.
