ian_marshall Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Maybe Pearson verbally offered his resignation after the game and the board accepted, only for his agent to have a word with him and remind him how much money was at stake. Knowing the board were happy to let him walk away and whilst they awaited written confirmation of Pearson's intention to resign his agent may have contacted Rob Dorsett to say Pearson had been sacked in an attempt to call their bluff. This might explain why Susan Whelan is in Thailand possibly discussing successors, why the club took so long to respond as they weren't anticipating this news to break just yet, and why they've now issued a statement saying Pearson will still be in situ come Tuesday as they look to put the ball firmly back in his court.
teblin Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 That had a replacement and he changed his mind so stuck with nige?
Nick Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 I think a more likely scenario is that the board began to explore other options for the position and met with potential candidates and talks have been tentative and then failed to come to any fruition. People like 'Sherwood et al' have perhaps been mooted and possibly spoken with and it has been leaked through 'one source or another' with journalists presuming the outcome prematurely. I always remember Pearson talking about leaving Leicester the first time, stating that the first he knew (obviously that his removal was imminent) was a certain manager watching the game in the directors box with the owners. I'm not sure they would risk making that mistake again but whatever your opinion on Pearson's tenure, as a director of a multi million pound company, in the position the club are in, you'd be irresponsible not to entertain the idea of sacking him and explore possible alternative suitors in the hope that they may offer a solution to the difficulties LCFC currently face. And for the record, I'm at this point (as a fan) can see the positives and negatives of either decision but would prefer to stick with what we have, considering what's available and the fact we are 4 points adrift and wouldn't bet agains Pearson turning it around.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 Strange evening. The fact that 2 of the WAGS on twitter seemed to think he was gone was strange. Surely the players would have an inkling whether a manager has been sacked and the fact they both posted about it seems suspicious. My guess would be that there was a meeting in which Thai's were going to sack him, Pearson pleaded his case, then when weighing it up Top & Co came to the decision to keep him as manager. Therefore you could understand the leek as the owners had intentions of sacking him but were either persuaded by him or their advisers to hold fire.

Guest seanfox778 Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 The owners are currently in Thailand, maybe they were Skyping and the wifi went dodgy and someone got the wrong end of the stick. Haha
Rusko187 Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 I'm a big Pearson fan but there is no smoke without fire, I would say his time is very limited and that he could still be sacked after Arsenal. Someone from the club has got wind of this and let it slip to Dorsett and he's reported back that he has gone. Be interesting to see what happens beyond Arsenal, after all the club have only stated he will take charge for that game.

I think Nigel would have walked by now if he had the slightest feeling he's getting the chop after the Arsenal game regardless of the result. I'm hoping it was all a miscommunication somewhere.

Saxondale Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 I think Dorsett's "source" is that Indy Kaila kid or some other shit-stirring attention seeker of a similar ilk. He's obviously just been sold an absolute kipper.
Saxondale Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 I'm a big Pearson fan but there is no smoke without fire These days there is smoke without fire. Unfortunately, Twitter gives a voice to imbeciles. It is full of silly little children who make things up for the attention.
GaelicFox Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 Word is none of backroom team would caretake, I expect things to be dealt with Wednesday morning, shocking management by execs at club, Pearson doesn't deserve this
Vlad the Fox Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 There was obviously a meeting of some sort, whether pearson resigned and they then later asked him to stay on or there was a board meeting where the managers situation was to be discussed. What then seems to have happened is that someone has jumped the gun believing he was going, let it slip and then quite the opposite has transpired. The bbc wouldn't make his mistake.

Captain... Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 Pure speculation, but it could be that there are some important people at the club that want Pearson gone and they have been trying to convince Top and co to sack him. After this latest loss and bizarre behaviour from Nige they fed false info to Rob Dorsett that he had been sacked to try and force their hand. Whoever gave Dorsett the info must have been pretty credible. You don't break a story like that on pure speculation. If it is a source within the club then he can't reveal it whereas if it came from radio Leicester they would say where it was originally reported.
narboroughblue Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 Dorsett just said on SSN that it was a trusted source and that other media outlets were hearing the same. Either that's backside covering or there is more to come from this story.
Ric Flair Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 I think Dorsett's "source" is that Indy Kaila kid or some other shit-stirring attention seeker of a similar ilk. He's obviously just been sold an absolute kipper. The Guardian reported this before Sky I thought?
Greatness_Since_1884 Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 The Telegraph article, presumably written by John Percy, suggets that Pearson was in a meeting with the owners, but to be warned about his behaviour not his job. Perhaps Dorsett got wind of a meeting, made 2+2=5 and in wanting to be the first to break the news (let's not forget journalism can be a dog eat dog world, being first to break a story of a PL sacking would give him great kudos) he jumped the gun?
Socks Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 who knows, something must of been said though, i reckon hes on his last warning... were quickly turning into the Notts Forest of the PL ! what a joke...
cc_star Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 Whelan & Co sacked Pearson from Bangkok Top, here in the UK while thinking of the possibility of relegation & of course looking to bounce straight back up saw that Pearson was unemployed and available so signed him up straight away
cc_star Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 No pro journo uses him as a source. Stringer would Oh yeah, you said pro journo
Finn Claw II Posted 9 February 2015 Posted 9 February 2015 Manager skuffles with opposition player and gets told his behaviour is not appropriate? I mean that is a non-story. I'd expect a bollocking if during a meeting I went in for a bit of playful wrestling with a client.
