Jolly good show this King Dicky burial lark, and should be beneficial to the city and all that, but.....

Poor effort by the Royals that they couldn't send anyone higher ranking than Sophie Bloody Wessex, civvy spouse of Queeny's wastrel of a youngest son!

Even if Queeny herself was off at the bingo or whatever, couldn't Charlie Boy have torn himself away from writing his green-ink letters for 1 day and got his scrawny arse up to Leicester?!

You've let your nation down, Ma'am!

Benidict Cumberbatch and Robert Lindsay got a bigger reception (unusual term to use for what is in effect a funeral), well from the east asian community whom were grouped under the window of my office anyway.

Absolutley no idea who any of the others hundreds of people were though, there really are so many hangers on with these kind of events.

Wearing a cream suit was a bit inappropriate. Then to sit there shaking your head and rolling your eyes in drama queen style just makes you look a bit of a plonka. Got even worse when he started plugging his book immediately afterwards outside the cathedral.

You didn't watch it then ?? The historian, John Ashdown-Hill, usually found alongside Philipa Langley, seemed to want centre stage.

Not only was it great for Leicester but also was a fantastic demonstration of something so British.

No other country in the World could the fine line between pomp and parody be so carefully trod, only we could dig up a Royal Shakespearean from a car park, parade him through the streets and bury him again whilst enjoying the process so tremendously.

Because we're the greatest Country in the World.

Alright Kazakhstan, calm down.

Really think Leicester and Leicestershire has pulled this off well. Not OTT but enough to really capture people's imagination.

Nothing wrong with showing a bit of national pride dude.  We very rarely indulge ourselves so why the hell not?  If any country can allow itself a bit of self-indulgence every once in a while it's us.  Sure as hell beats the chronic hand-wringing, self-doubt and self-loathing that seems to have taken hold the past few decades anyway

Anyway what a fantastic few days in the spotlight for the city of Leicester.  Really proud of the way we have conducted ourselves during this, a bit of pomp and ceremony but no grandstanding and pretending to be something we're not.  I really hope the city can kick on now and attract some serious commercial investment and for gods sake clean the place up a bit.  :)

As an aside, what was the reason for the current Queen of England not being there today?  Or any senior member of the Royal family in fact?

You've not seen Borat, have you?

No argument from me on showing a bit of pride. We should do it more often.

Oh I've seen it, sorry I just read it as if you were looking down on him for showing a bit of pride.  My apologies

Thousands of candles have been set up in the streets around the city's cathedral ahead of tonight's Leicester Glows event.

It aims to be a spectacular end to an historic week for Leicester which has seen the reburial of King Richard III.

The event will see a trail of thousands of flickering flames lighting up Jubilee Square, Cathedral Gardens and streets in The Lanes from 6pm until 10pm.

There will also be a trail of dramatic fire sculptures.

Streets which will be illuminated by the trail of flames include Apple Gate, Peacock Lane, Guildhall Lane, Loseby Lane, and St Martins between New Street and Loseby Lane.

The streets around Jubilee Square and Cathedral Gardens will be closed throughout the afternoon and evening, to enable the events to take place.

The free event is being run by Big Difference Company, Fireworxx and Bright Spark, and will bring a unique fire-themed meditative display to the part of the city centre.

Geoff Rowe, Chief Executive Officer of Big Difference Company said: "We are honoured and thrilled to have been commissioned to produce this unique and exciting event to make a historic week for Leicester.

"We have worked on major outdoor events before, including the public celebrations for when the Paralympic Torch left Stoke Mandeville for London 2012.

"As a Leicester-based organisation, we are excited about bringing the internationally-respected Fireworxx to the city for what will be a beautiful and magical event."

Yes he certainly is getting a very good reputation clean up

Some of the eminent historians of the Time belive he ordered hundreds of beheadings

They wouldn't have been historians at the time. Journalists perhaps!!
