shailen Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 I do like the formation we are currently playing or a 4-4-2 that we played almost all of last season. Anyway I wanted to focus more on the emphasis we played with in games. Although we need to win more than half our games it doesn't mean we need to go gung-ho because we could easily throw the game away by doing so. I think it's important for us to stay in games for at least 55-60 minutes and then try to exploit the opposition thereafter. That doesn't mean we sit back and counter from the onset, but that we don't go and over commit from minute one. Others will probably argue that we need to show our intent and be brave from minute one, however we really don't have the quality to outplay and pressurize teams for spells and make it count (or we haven't shown it this season anyway). It's a fine balance anyway, of course we need to win games, but that doesn't necessarily mean we have to go all out from the onset. Tomorrow we face a Spurs team who are far superior to us, and if we play and over commit they can easily break and punish us with the quality they have. I would like to see us a bit more defensive tomorrow for the first half atleast, and then go for it thereafter. Once again, I know we need wins, but just attacking doesn't get this. You need to keep the opposition out too.
Fox92 Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 At least try and win games. We need to score and win to give us any chance of survival. Tomorrow for example, Spurs are a good side but they weren't brilliant when they came to us on boxing day and if I recall correctly we should have won the game. Just fed up with Kramaric isolated on his own chasing aimless balls for an hour before getting substituted off, by the time we are losing. We've played that tactic on repeat for too long now. When we attack teams and run at them we look half decent and give the opposition a scare. Look at how we played at Stamford Bridge and Anfield. You can only defend for so long, at the end of the day quality will pick us off. Our formation doesn't help our defensive third either, Hull created better chances last Saturday and should have won.
Matt Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 Try, just try attacking. Look i'm almost certain we're down, have been for weeks, infact months, but as people keep reminding me we're not mathematically, so lets just try to be a little more attack, have a go, make a fist of it, i'm almost past caring now, i'd rather be very attacking and lose 5-0 rather than seeing out the rest of the season like we have been for the last few weeks - setting up not to lose and still losing. I don't really care that 'we haven't been hammered all season'©, we also havn't won many, maybe there is connection there, take abit of a risk and let's be honest it's shit or bust time.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 Go hard or go home. I'd rather we went out in a blaze of glory, losing games heroically 4-3 than drawing all our games 0-0 or 1-1.
NewquayFox Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 Two strikers and two wide men who can cross the ball..... Were gonna score one more than you....... Admit it you sang that last line didn't you.... Vindaloo vindaloo..........

I know where you are coming from, but winning games is not just about attacking and scoring goals. I'd rather see us stay in games like Chelsea and Spurs for as long as possible and then go for it. When it comes to the weaker sides in this league, yes we need to go for it. I never want to see a repeat of the Hull performance, where alot of things went in our favour and we could not capitalise, and were lucky to even get a point.
AKCJ Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 HAMER MORGAN -----HUTH ------ WASILEWSKI MAHREZ ----- CAMBIASSO ----- JAMES ----- SCHLUPP NUGENT KRAMARIC ----- ULLOA
J.Lisemore Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 We'll set up with a 1-1-3-2-1-2/complicated formation. Try to scrap out a 0-0 draw and fail miserably again.
Guest Col city fan Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 Doesn't matter.. Whatever we say you just know Nige will stick with his formation and his favourite players..
Leicesterpool Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 Well just go all out attack, I mean what's the point in going five at the back it didn't work anyway. Stick with tradition and go with a 4-4-2. For me if there is a new manager coming in the summer I think we should bring him in before the season ends, so he can get a good luck at the squad.

It really should have happened this week, this will just be another game that passes us by unfortunately.

Legend_in_blue Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 It doesn't matter what we think. Pearson, he looks after himself.
Fox92 Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 I'm classed as a "Pearsonite" I guess but I criticise him as I do and as I have done in this thread. I've never personally abused anybody on here, though I have had it aimed at me numerous times. He's far from my idol too, but I respect the man for what he's achieved on and off the field at this football club (twice). I'd love us to stay up because I love this football club, but I'd also like it because I genuinely think some of you want us to get relegated just so the whole "I told you he's not good enough" rubbish. For what Pearson has achieved at this football club he deserves better than some of you fans, and that's something I've never said before because nobody is bigger than any football club.
Jimothy Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 4-2-3-1 I really like this formation. I know its kind of the new fashionable one that Chelsea etc seem to be using, but it gives you a solid back 4. Two covering in front of that. You can get three attacking players in behind the striker. If you're under pressure it can easily become a flat 4 in midfield or even 5. It gives Pearson the solid defensive shape he's craving, but also lets us get a few more players who can cause damage to the opposition in there too.

Therefore, Pearson won't pick it.

Got us out of division 1 and will leave us in the championship. Thanks Nige you legend
Fox92 Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 Got us out of division 1 and will leave us in the championship. Thanks Nige you legend What a stupid comment. Are you not considering everything he achieved off field as well then? League One champions, two play off campaigns, second division Champions and sorted the mess out from two stupid managers before him. Anybody other than Nigel Pearson would be classed an icon at the very least.

smudger63 Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 HAMER MORGAN -----HUTH ------ WASILEWSKI MAHREZ ----- CAMBIASSO ----- JAMES ----- SCHLUPP NUGENT KRAMARIC ----- ULLOA You would be asking for trouble by playing Mahrez where you have put him in that formation. He`s hopeless defensively, and in that system he would be having to do a fair bit of defensive work. I would put De Laet in that position, in the formation you`ve gone with, and would put Mahrez in the hole behind the front two, instead of Nugent. I would put Upson in over Morgan from the team you have picked, but certainly agree with bringing Wasilewski back into the team. In fact if we do go back to a back four at sometime, i would play Huth and Wasilewski over Upson and Morgan.

Is the reason we are going down.icon?
