merlin1969 Posted 4 May 2015 Posted 4 May 2015 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/leicester-squad-ate-ostrich-burgers-5631295 Leicester squad ate OSTRICH burgers before Newcastle win as club poke fun at boss Nigel Pearson "There’s been a bit of banter. You have to be able to laugh at yourself - and allow other people to do that" admits manager in wake of THAT rant.Nigel Pearson revealed Leicester’s stars munched on OSTRICH burgers before devouring Newcastle. Foxes boss Pearson’s bizarre post-Chelsea-defeat rant at journalist Ian Baker went viral as he compared the reporter to an ostrich with its head in the sand. But Leicester colleagues and staff at the club’s training ground canteen saw the funny side with a special menu ahead of the weekend six-pointer. Asked if his rant had been discussed much internally, Pearson smiled: “What, apart from having ostrich burgers at the training ground? “There’s been a bit of banter. You have to be able to laugh at yourself - and allow other people to do that.” Pearson admitted there could be another unusual dish on the menu if Leicester do stay up, but he is cracking the whip until the Foxes - winners of five of their last six games - are mathematically safe, ahead of their final games against Southampton, Sunderland and QPR. Leicester captain Wes Morgan, who scored the hosts’ second in Saturday's win, felt Pearson’s post-Chelsea rant actually helped their preparations. Morgan explained: “The manager takes it upon himself to take the spotlight off us and take it upon himself. That is great for us as we can focus on our job. The ways he does that is down to him. "The boys were focused on the jobs we needed to do and it has paid off. We have heard about the comments and saw what has been going on but we ignored it and concentrated on the bigger picture which was the three points and this game.” Morgan is now confident the Foxes will survive but knows they have work still to do: “We have given ourselves a great chance and we don’t want to throw it away. We will continue do to what we are doing now and hopefully we will be alright. “To run out 3-0 winners in the end with so much riding on this game was exactly what we needed. “There was a different pressure on us going into the game expecting to win. We haven’t experienced that much this season but the boys coped with it unbelievably. It has shown in our performance as we put on a performance to make us win the game. “Southampton next are a very tough team who have done fantastically. We need to get points from all our remaining games just to be safe and it is another game where we will be working hard to do that. “Until we are mathematically safe, we won’t sit back.”
