Tielemans63 Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 Kasper (and a few other of our players) were in a similar position to Sako last season. Out of contract after a very good championship season. Would we have minded if we paid Kasper £50k? I get the package point but you have to wary about the impact on team dynamics as well. We can afford it, but is it what we should be doing? The first person any player would point to in future contract negotiations is Sako. That was the point I was making in my previous post and I agree. I think if a guy comes in on big wages having achieved a lot on the game (e.g. Esteban) that's one thing but to bring in a guy who is unproven at the top level and make him one of your top earners when there are proven performers for us who will be on significantly less - that's a risk. Don't have a problem with us paying a player £50k, I just think to justify the status of top earner you need to have been there and done it and Sako isn't even on a par with the current first teamers in that respect. Would be a big gamble.

First off I doubt the players go around discussing what they get, secondly when it comes to team spirit I trust Pearson 100%. He'll know if we have those type of people in the squad that are money minded or think like that. Personally I think he has spent 3 years turning the squad into a group that don't think like that.
Ed25 Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 pure speculation but have a horrible feeling this deal (amongst other things) could have gone Pearson the sack. The club statement: 'Khun Vichai and Khun Top remain wholly committed to the Club’s long-term development and to on going investment in a squad that will continue to be competitive in the Premier League' And the 'fundamental difference'. Could you not just imagine the owners wanting fast success willing to spend big on people like Sako, and Pearson just being like £50,000? Don't be stupid
Raw Dykes Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 Haven't read the whole thread, so someone might have already brought this up. Couldn't the club just give him a large signing on fee to keep the wages down? We'd be paying him the same as what he wanted, without upsetting any other players.

Arriba Los Zorros Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 If Bakary Sako has got the pure speculation but have a horrible feeling this deal (amongst other things) could have gone Pearson the sack. Don't be stupid Just when I couldn't get any more depressed, the idea of a mercenary clown like Sako contributing to NP's downfall.... It's not even like he is a good or talented player. FFS.

TOMBlcfc Posted 9 July 2015 Posted 9 July 2015 Why don't we want him? Always looked quality whenever I've seen him play although I hear he's inconsistent. Seems to have a good attitude as well with his loyalty to wolves
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 9 July 2015 Posted 9 July 2015 Flashbacks of the last time we lost a popular manager and signed a goalscorer from Wolves...
