I could be completely wrong but my guess is we (and a couple of other English clubs) made an offer to him a while back, probably around the £35k-40k mark. Agent has probably held out for £50k. If no English club is prepared to pay that for someone unproven in the top flight, besiktas certainly will do so it wouldn't surprise me one but if he's off over there.

If the guy would rather play in a shit league and at the peak of his career rather than test himself in one of the world's strongest leagues, all for an extra few ££££ a week, then he's not really the kind of player we want imho.

If no club in the prem thinks he is worth 50k a week then clearly no scout thinks he's worth that and he must have been scouted heavily by every club being a free

Pretty much this. Besiktas in fairness do have European football on their side but it's all a bit cringeworthy in my opinion - harping on about how much he wants his Premier League move but he'd happily sack that off to play in an inferior league if it meant an extra bit of money on top of the excessive money he'd get here anyway.

If it's true then we dodged a bullet in my opinion.

I fear the only players we have been linked too are going elsewhere and we don't have long before pre-season, and as i said at the present moment the squad is weaker than the one that ended the season.

From what I gather we have no interest in him anyway. I think we can and need to look for better players.

I think we do have interest in him, good statistically and his performances seem to be good enough and worthy of a step up to the Prem. Though not an option / team selection replacement for Schlupp / Mahrez, I think Sako offers a little bit more in attack; left sided striker comes to mind. Left sided midfield in a 4-4-2 / 4-2-3-1 (that one time it'll be played) and a striker option in a 3-4-3.

He's not worth 50k a week, regardless of no transfer fee - i'd like to think we;re holding out on a 35k week wage max, and that's why it seems to be taking a while for Sako to decide. The longer he waits, the less likely he'll be going to a more attractable PL team, and his PL options will diminish. If he wants to play in the Prem his agent has to accept the fact that he's not worthy of commanding 50k a week. If they're adamant they want 50k, then they can **** off to the Chinese, Indian or Turkish superleagues of ameateur football.

The players are still on holiday

Give it another 4 weeks and you can then have this opinion.

So... some unsourceable chap on Twitter says Sako is going to Turkey and that's it?

Not really, it's just hypothetical discussion.

Biggest problem with the rumour that he was signing for us is that it came from a reporter from the Express and Star on RL....

Even Wolves supporters take little notice of their local rag.

Doesn't really mean anything though, does it?

Being linked to a player doesn't mean we are actually interested, nor does not being linked mean that we are not interested. Example, the news of Fuchs signing with us broke hours before we signed him. No-one had a clue and we all know that Nigel likes to do business this way. The only players we know for certain that we have an interest in are Cambiasso, Huth and Okazaki as Pearson has said so himself, as well as Kante who's club president confirmed so, everything else could just be papertalk for all we know.

tbf, that could even be bullshít in order to start a bidding war

Didn't tanner tweet saying we had met his wage demands?

If someone else comes in and offers more then that becomes as good as void.

I would assume some of the leaks regarding his wage demand(s) came from Wolves in order to to portray him as a greedy player rather than allow for Wolves to appear unambitious.

Unlikely. He was never going to re-sign for us anyway.

What he does after he's out of contract is none of our concern. Plus we've already spoken of both the club and the player's commitment to his contract and the club instead of him being sold in the last couple of windows. Which we could have easily done.

Depends on wether he signed a pre contract agreement or not...
