Being linked to a player doesn't mean we are actually interested, nor does not being linked mean that we are not interested. Example, the news of Fuchs signing with us broke hours before we signed him. No-one had a clue and we all know that Nigel likes to do business this way. The only players we know for certain that we have an interest in are Cambiasso, Huth and Okazaki as Pearson has said so himself, as well as Kante who's club president confirmed so, everything else could just be papertalk for all we know. whilst I agree with you, I think it's harder to keep deals under wraps in most cases. With out of contract players, it is easier to keep a lid on and the deals involve fewer parties and can be done quicker. I doubt there will be many 'surprise signings' where other clubs are involved as we are relying on too many parties keeping it under wraps over a prolonged time span.

Despite all the praise from the Wolves fan and the somewhat deceiving highlights reel, something tells me that he wouldn't fit in here. Call it a hunch. Personally, I'd never let a situation escalate insofar as that the club appears to be held ransom over the wages part of a contract, regardless of whether the player in question is a soon-to-be free agent or not.
