johnny the fox Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 I'm not up to speed on Labour MPs, can someone explain what John Mcdonnell's done is his career to earn the title of Shadow Chancellor? What did he do before he was an MP? he was livingstones right hand man at the GLC.. in charge of the budget... he also said in 2010, if he could go back in time he would of assasinated Thatcher.. ha ha .. a bit of a Liberal then..
Claridge Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Whoever thought campaigning for peace could be described as drippy? Corbyn "Wouldn't it be good if we lived in a world of peace with military never being required" Yes it would be great Jeremy and if no one was ever ill and the shone all day. How the hell is that not a drippy statement from a man who wants to be leader of a nation. Dear Mr Putin Imagine all the people ...... Love Jeremy and Yoko

What did he do before he was an MP? Osborne doesn't exactly have qualifications that would suit him to the job as chancellor a 2.1 in modern history, the role doesn't require an expert, that said It'll be interesting to see how JM gets on in the job.

Julian Clary has got the defence brief..
Guest MattP Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Surprised Burnham got a role in the shadow cabinet after he was secretly filmed saying Corbyn would be a disaster. Just had a read of McDonnells comments on the IRA - what a vile human being.
ozleicester Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 ANOTHER prime minister for australia, thats 5 in the last 5 years? politics is changin kids
Claridge Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Surprised Burnham got a role in the shadow cabinet after he was secretly filmed saying Corbyn would be a disaster. Just had a read of McDonnells comments on the IRA - what a vile human being. The Hayes and Harlington MP has previously faced criticism for telling a union event that he would "like to go back to the 1980s and assassinate Thatcher" and in 2003 said IRA terrorists should be "honoured" for taking part in their "armed struggle", while attending a gathering to commemorate the IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands. Taken from the anti Murdoch BBC website Imagine having friends like this and then making them chancellor? Imagine supporting a party that has these kind of people in it? Labour your a disgrace and will never recover from the madness of this election

Rincewind Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Relax.. your taking things too serious.. the party is just having a bit of a giggle.. he backed bobby sands as slimmer of the year.. Actually Bobby Sands going on hunger strike initiated the peace talks process and brought an end to the conflict. This was with the help of the IRA who also wanted an end to the trouble which caused the deaths of many innocent people on both sides. If wanting peace is drippy then I'd hate to think how warmongers are thought as.

Guest MattP Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Jesus Christ Ken where do you get this shit from?
Darkon84 Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 I'm not even going to comment properly on that
Rincewind Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 I never thought that I would get stick for saying that negotiating peace and the conflict in Ireland with the IRA ending was a good thing.
Darkon84 Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 I never thought that I would get stick for saying that negotiating peace and the conflict in Ireland with the IRA ending was a good thing. As Webbo said, you might want to check the history of Bobby Sands and what the hunger strike was for etc.
Smudge Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 I never thought that I would get stick for saying that negotiating peace and the conflict in Ireland with the IRA ending was a good thing. You often do this Ken, you make a ridiculously inaccurate statement of fact then claim to be a victim for something you didn't say.

Rincewind Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 I think it would be good. It is just the usual misquotes by certain sections of the media hoping it will be repeated on message boards but surely the public are not that naive? Congrats to Jon ashworh now in shadow cabinet as minister of no portfolio whatever that is

Guest Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 I really cant see Corben lasting 12 months let alone to the next election. The parallels with UKIP, with the left wing of the Labour party suddenly coming under massive public scrutiny, is obvious. We now have a shadow chancellor who has supported 60% tax rates, nationalisation without compensation for shareholders, and last but not least thinks the IRA terror campaign was a success and is something to be celebrated. And before FIF says it, as tory I am not scared at all of any likelihood of this Labour group leading the country - they are 50 years too late for that - but I do think re-opening silly debates about issues long dead will unsettle business and our NATO allies for example. Debating is never silly and maybe some of the subjects shouldn't have been "long dead". unsettling NATO allies next you'll worry about unsettling UN allies but not worry about unsettling EU allies. When I'm president of the universe, everyone who uses the phrase straw man in an argument will get a compulsory kick in the knackers. Straw man! He has been all over the country in the last couple of months listening to peoples concerns: So why does he need to ask them again? That sounds like a tory way of thinking - we asked them during the last decade sir.
Guest Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Not a lot if he comes out with drippy statements like that. He is leader of the opposition and needs to grow up fast. He's not at his dopey fringe meetings anymore where the world can be changed if only... why is it worrying you so much?
Guest Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Like I said it's very nice of him to attend, and it's a noble cause. In time he might be able to do some of these, I imagine Cameron finds time to even as PM, but on day one of your leadership, he has other stuff to do. Sorry just being realistic. He's job has now changed to something totally unrecognisable, he can't go pissing about doing exactly what he likes anymore. He asked for the responsibility to lead the party, now he has to take it. Perhaps he's saying this stuff is important whereas going on TV or yapping at PMQ's is going to do a lot less for the country/world. Perhaps he doesn't have your priorities and that's why some people like this refreshing attitude.
