silebyboy Posted 24 May 2015 Posted 24 May 2015 Simply put, progress. Mid table mediocrity would be a welcome step in the right direction.
The Doctor Posted 24 May 2015 Posted 24 May 2015 Well our form the last two months would be 92 points and likely a title, so that please. In all seriousness, I'd tear your hand off for midtable mediocrity and a cup run: establish ourselves and try to push on for europe in the 3rd season. Much as I don't like them, Stoke are a good model to follow.
Zapp Posted 24 May 2015 Posted 24 May 2015 42+ points it really is as simple as this realistic expectation is survival & progress cup runs would depend on who we draw, but not going out at home or to a team in a division below would be a realistic expectation
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 24 May 2015 Posted 24 May 2015 Again people seem to be slightly ahead of themselves in terms of progressing. Safety without a long relegation slog would be welcomed, even if we get less points and finish lower down the table. I would happily finish 16th and get to a semi final of a cup.
6ups 6downs 2 cups Posted 24 May 2015 Posted 24 May 2015 If we assume Cambiasso does sadly leave and with James out till xmas, what Pearson does with the midfield will be crucial to how we get on next season.
StriderHiryu Posted 24 May 2015 Posted 24 May 2015 I think a realistic expectation is to beat the drop again and end in a similar position. Hopefully this time without flirting as much with the bottom 3 positions. Next season will see Bournemouth, Watford and one other come up and I think that we are better than those three. I think Bournemouth will perform the best of the 3 promoted clubs but don't think they are as strong as us when we came up and we will strengthen again for next season. Sunderland and Newcastle are a mess and West Brom look shaky so think it will be those 7 clubs (including ourselves) around the relegation places. Hopefully after this season we get going a lot earlier and don't hit rock bottom again, but if we do, we will have the mental strength to beleive we can pull ourselves out which is a big plus. I still think we have quite a way to go before we can become a mid-table club but there are lots of promising signs. The end of the season proves we have a very solid core team and I think that if we bring in 2-3 quality players who add something instead of squad players to make up the numbers, we have a good platform to build on!
The Horse's Mouth Posted 24 May 2015 Posted 24 May 2015 Survival for now, wouldn't mind a cup run in either
MC Prussian Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Either one spot higher up the table or one point more than the 2014/2015 season - I can't make my mind up. EDIT: And somewhat better results and performances in the FA and/or League Cup than lately.
Captain... Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Same as every year to compete in every game, fight for everything and leave the pitch knowing there was nothing more you could give. If we lose like that then I will never complain. What I hope is that we start the season with a coherent formation and playing style, 343 seems ok, and then we focus on improving the little things and tinkering with the line-up/formation not having wholesale changes and experimental line ups in important games. We are successful when we setup to attack and go out and take the game to them, yes we will lose some games playing like that but at least we will lose in the right way like we did against Chelsea twice, Arsenal, Spurs twice, Liverpool.
sylofox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 40 points ASAP! What do you want us to to in the other 24 games?
ADK Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 If we keep Cambi and Huth then there is no reason why we can't challenge for the final Europa league places. We took 28 points in the second half of the season which equals 56 over a full season. We have a lot of good things about our squad and a stable set up.
tom27111 Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 I'd be quite happy if we had a season like West Brom did this year. Ok, you're at the lower end of the table, looking over your shoulder, but you were never really in trouble. The year after, have a season like Palace have, mid-table mediocrity. The year after, do a Southampton. It's a slow process. But if we can gradually build and improve, we'll reap the rewards. It rarely happens overnight, let's be patient and let Nige do what he has done every year, make progress.
Dan Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 I'm gonna make a very bold claim... we will make a semi final of a cup next year.
ozleicester Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 11th - 14th but without a panic about relegation and a good cup run in either or both
wattolcfc Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Anywhere between 17th & 12th would be a successful season in my eyes, by then the players will be established Premier League players and we will be able to attract big signings with the new TV money the following year.
bluesbrothers Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Stay safe and a cup run. It's all I ask - just to see City at Wembley again would be wonderful.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Either one spot higher up the table or one point more than the 2014/2015 season - I can't make my mind up. EDIT: And somewhat better results and performances in the FA and/or League Cup than lately. Would you not take a 15th or 16th place finish With 39/40 points if it materialised that we were never in a relegation scrap all season? For me as long as we stay up relatively comfortably the position and points tally is irrelevant. 2nd season syndrome is something that alot of promoted clubs struggle with. Would also mean we are an established prem club with the likelihood of better signings being more tempted to come here. Slow progress is still progress. I really think Pearson could emulate Martin O'Neill's achievements here given time to do so, hopefully the owners and us fans stay patient.
ScouseFox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 To end may 2016 without a R next to us in the table will do me
LCCFox96 Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 First and foremost survival. But if we are progressing: Improve our league standing Hit 45-50 points Improve cup performance Add some real quality in the transfer windows to develop the squad Achieve that and should all be very happy foxes.
