Realistic Expectations Next Season?

Recommended Posts

Assuming that by the end of the next transfer window we have a squad no worse than we ended this season with, what are our expectations of next season?

We've ended this season in form that could easily see us into a Europa league position, but do you think we will be take that momentum through to next season, baring in mind that 2 months ago we had only won 4 games?

A lot, of course, depends on whether we can keep Cambiasso and Huth, but assuming we do, what should we be aiming for?

Between 40-50 points and to only really flirt with relegation.

Would be nice to have a much more comfortable season, even if we get a similar result at the end of the season.

Yep again I'd be more than happy with survival as I think sometimes the second season cld be harder as we ain't a surprise anymore

It's difficult to predict right now. As OP said, depends on Cambi and Huth. If we lose those two it'll be almost impossible to find replacements of the same quality.

Survival please.

Another season of great crowds and some money in the bank would really help us push forwards for 16/17.

I would like us to go for it in the cups too, if Villa can reach the final of the FA Cup, why can't we?

This plus a cup run.

Would love to take my two youngest to Wembley to see City. I took my two oldest kids there in the Little/O'Neill eras. Would love to see us eventually win the FA cup.

Oh yeah, a season with great atmosphere again.

I'll be honest, I have often moaned in the past and have been told I look at the old days through rose tinted specs.

Well I have loved this season and compared to other premiership grounds I think we have created a fantastic atmosphere.

Well done the team, well done Pearson, well done the owners and well done City fans.

Even teams like Palace and WBA were heavily involved in the relegation scrap earlier in the season. It basically tends to affect everyone in the bottom half at one stage or another so I'd be shocked if we steer clear entirely.

Regardless of ending up 14th this season, I'd still take 17th next season so we're definitely around when the big TV money kicks in for 16/17.

I'd like to see us make improvements to our position, somewhere around about midtable would be fantastic.

I'd also love to see us make more a go of it in the cups, the defeat to Shrewsbury in particular was pathetic. The loss at Villa was also pretty spineless, and I honestly think we could have been at Wembley had we won that one.

I think to achieve mid table is a realistic possibility. If we can get around 50 points for next season, i think most of us will be happy.

Survival will again be priority, and now we know what the team is capable of I think most of us will be expecting it. I think realistically we can aim for 45-50 points, finish 10-12th and I'd be really happy with that. If we finish 10th or higher, that'd be absolutely brilliant

A good cup run or two would be a bonus, just hope we aren't put out at the first opportunity by a League 2 side

Same again for me - maybe 45+ points but achieved in a slightly more balanced manner.

The last 2 months have been so much fun, but not sure my heart could take it again.

Same again, same attacking intent and solid defending we've seen in the last 9 games over the whole season and I'll be happy.
