theessexfox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 100% stay, he was important in our early revival and until the last 6 games or so, was key to most of our good performances.
Sampson Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Can't finish his dinner. Neither can Vardy, but most people can recognise they bring much more to the side than goals.
Zapp Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 I stopped reading after "held us back for quite a while" I can't even fathom how any Leicester fan can have that opinion Pearsons ostrich rant could not have a more apt place to be quoted here
Marie84 Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 How can you say he has held us back for quite a while. I mean honestly, how the **** can anyone have that opinion. Until the last couple of months we've hardly put a decent performance together without him for years. Exactly that... Nuge works his arse of every game he plays, he constantly gives us everything he has, his work rate is outstanding also off the field he has a good relationship with the others and to the fans always respectful and he is one of the nicest ones always stops to say hello sign things etc how anyone can justify him possibly leaving is unbelievable he was unlucky to pick up the injury just as he was finding form he's a very positive member of the team positive influence and no doubt he and a few others will work hard on their game over the summer to be ready for next season. 1st season back in the prem was never gonna be a walk in the park for any of the team they all needed to learn sometimes learning the hard way but to get rid of nuge would be wrong he shows more passion in that shirt than most Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Under contract, wouldn't get much for him if we sold him, offers the squad a fair bit. Be utterly moronic to move him on.
NewburyFox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Keep him as a squad member BUT if we want to become an established PL club then we need better than Nuge up front. He'd he 4th choice striker for me now quite comfortably. However how anyone can say he's held us back for a while is barmy. If you watched us last season, his partnership with Vardy tore the league apart. We all knew he'd struggle a bit this season as he's not consistent enough for this level, but the entire squad struggled for any consistency from October-March.
Gerard Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 You need 5 first team forwards. Vardy, Ulloa, Kramaric, Nugent, New signing. Nugent does an invaluable job as a squad player. Dread to think how much poorer our poor run would be without his unrivalled effort. Not that he played many games in it, it was when he returned to the team we had a higher tempo about us and he bought qualities out of other players. We certainly don't need five forwards, Chelsea have had three this season and they expect to go deep in every competition they enter. Wood is our fifth striker and he's had no influence on our season whatsoever and is just another wage earner. I'd certainly keep Nugent, he played his part in getting us out of this mess. He's good competition for the squad as he can play in one of our two striker position or in the Mahrez hole. You never know we may get an injury to Vardy, Kramaric or Ulloa or one of them might be sold in the summer transfer window. The only reason I'd sell Nugent is if a good offer came in for him or we bought another striker which I don't think we will.
Foxymcoxy Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Yeah but Chelsea play with 1 striker and we've played with 3 fairly regularly..
4everfox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 As a squad player, Nugent is very handy to have and must stay.
The Doctor Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Has done well on the whole this season. If we want to progress, he'll need to be upgraded on, but replacing him is not a priority
FrankieADZ Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 keep him...he done well imo this season..important part of the team. think we all know its going to be Chris Wood who's going to go tbh.
Stevosevic Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 We're signing another striker - he'll drop down to 5th in pecking order. With a year left on his deal, they'll be championship clubs looking at him as a realistic target
Carlos88LCFC Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 We're signing another striker - he'll drop down to 5th in pecking order. With a year left on his deal, they'll be championship clubs looking at him as a realistic target I'd let him go. I don't think he's been poor but the fact is he isn't great at anything he's just an all rounder. I think in the premiership you need a key attribute that makes you effective. Vardy - blistering pace & energy Ulloa - height, strength and finishing. Kramaric - hard to say at the min but he's quick, very aware, skillful and potentially a 20+ goal a season striker. Nugent - ? Don't get me wrong, he's done a fantastic job for the club and he is a great character around the dressing room I'm sure. Just isn't a premiership striker unfortunately. Keep him if he's prepared to sit on the bench when one of our strikers are injured, but if he wants game time, we will have too many options if we sign another. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Picture the scene: next season we play Sunderland, it's a dire game but we're solid defensively. We have three chances, they all fall to Nugent... Who's confident that we win that game 1-0 and take the three points? This is exactly what happened versus Hull City at home this year, Nugent missed the chanes, and it's because of this that we needed to go on an unbelievable (once-in-a-lifetime) run of form to survive. Works hard, good for the shape of the team... I get all that. But it's not good enough to take us to the next level.
Strokes Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Love nugent, still a starter in the front three for me.
Bettsj2 Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Go for me. We need to improve the first team and the squad. We cant do that and keep players like Nugent and Wood hanging around. Both should be allowed to go.
sylofox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 So as we can not moan about the football (as the season is over and we stayed up) what can we talk about lets see. I know lets wait for a Nugent hater to start an in out poll. Then what next DD Nige you may even if you are quick squeeze in a Koncheski one before his contract ends. Roll on the fixture release and the start of the season so we get a couple of weeks break from this shite.
1993fox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Nugent and Wood are not players of the same category. Nugent is not a first team player but he is good to have for squad rotation. He can come on for 20-30 minutes and change a few things up for us.
cjslcfc Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Have a feeling he will go this summer, especially if we are trying to sign a striker.
sylofox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Oh and for the sellers what championship club can afford his wage? Or are we expected to pay it all season.
desertfox2 Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 100 percent stay. I know he wouldn't be a starting striker for any decent prem side but we could do a lot worse as a backup. He has a hood attitude, so cant see him sulking if hes on the bench. He shouldn't be starting if we want to progress, unless he finds another gear when given a chance. We need 5 forwards add one class player up top and we are sorted for forwards. Have to keep him as we couldn't get anyone better that will be happy as backup
