Grewks Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Were we all saying how poor the league was last year? Struggling to understand how the league is poor and how we are one of the only teams to strengthen. In my opinion, a lot more high profile players are seeming to move to lower end Premier League teams increasing strength and the competitiveness of the league. The strength of a league is always based off the strength of the top sides. Chelsea have stood still, Liverpool are looking to finish in the top 4 with a striker leading the line who only just avoided relegation last season, united have 1 recognised striker at the club whilst 'this will be our year' arsenal have added just the one player.....a goalkeeper.

Couldn't disagree more with that but I suppose its subjective
Grewks Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Rudy Gestede is a premier league player he aint that bad haha
Guest ttfn Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 LVG is officially stealing a living here A much luckier Moyes with a far more expensive team.
Guest ttfn Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Schweinsteiger has been excellent since he's come on
Lionator Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 I would be gutted if we were in a relegation battle this year watching this turd.
Soar Fox Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 How much has Van Gaal spent over £250 million? And he has to play Blind at centre half. He's done an awful job since he took over.
jammie82uk Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Darmian is so poor it's unbelievable any competent winger is going to to have a field day against him
Soar Fox Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Villa's left back has impressed me, though I've never heard of him before.
Vacamion Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Can't understand them booing Young. It's not as if Young is a born and bred local... Which player wouldn't leave a lower end of the league club to go and earn squillions at Man Utd???
kyleolly Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Two poor teams who lack invention in the final 3rd villa will go down if they continue to play like this and both teams passing has been woeful

I have to disagree with the first sentence. The strength of the Premier League is surely judged on the rest of the league outside of the top 6 or 7. It is known for being one of the best leagues in the world for how evenly matched and competitive the rest of the league is. I'd be willing to bet that our top four is weaker then that of Spain's and arguably Germany too, but if you compared the rest of the league to the others in Spain and Germany then the teams in this country would be much stronger. For example Everton finished 11th last season, Rayo Vallecano did the same in La Liga and in the Bundesliga it was Mainz. Everton have a stronger squad then both of those and would probably push for the Champions League places in both of those leagues. Even Leicester would finish comfortably in the top half in both of those leagues.

Guest Col city fan Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Master stroke tonight by Van Gaal to bring on the two DM's when he did. They cut Villa's supply and stopped them taking hold. Villa will be ok I think. Very lively side, though they certainly will sorely miss Christian Benteke. Rooney tonight was utter gash.

I agree about the Van Gaal substitutes but why on earth did Sherwood take Sinclair off? He was their most dangerous player by far and Villa lost all their forward momentum once he left the pitch. Crap game although Man Utd should've won by more.

Bizarre decision by Sherwood.
Legend_in_blue Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Can't stand Villa. Gestede looks typical championship. Half the team may have changed but the football is still dire. Nothing's changed. Still, SSN won't change their mind on Sherwood, they love him.
ScouseFox Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 in 77 minutes riyad mahrez has had as many shots on target and scored more goals than man u have in two full games.

Gary Eatfood Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 No idea mate? Bizarre decision by Sherwood. The thing with Sherwood is he says the right things but when it comes to tactical nous that will actually change or decide a game I think he's bloody clueless!
