Difficult one for me this - I'd keep him because of his progress and especially getting the teams vote.

'Unplayable' on his day and 'unpayable' on others....

And Col - how do you manage to post an 'I told you so' and a 'Cambiasso isn't all that' post in just three lines - remarkable lol

lol

To be fair Nick, that took some doing.

I knew that course in thinking outside the box would come in handy at some time.

As a complete aside, I've just been burned off at the lights by one of those BMW's you were on about.

Christ they are quick!

PS..The 'unplayable' and 'unpayable'.

Like it..

5 million is an insult coming from a team that spent 42 million in Ozil. If they are serious they should at least give us the courtesy of some respect and start the bidding at 10 million.

He's actually got a chance at Arsenal. Their full back spots really need strengthening and although Bellerin and Gibbs did okay last season, neither for me are convincing enough and I wouldn't put Schlupp too far behind either of them.

Schlupp is a perfectly competent if entirely inconsistent wing back and an ok winger but he must be one of the worst full backs in recent Premier League history.

WELL SAID I AGREE

It's great to see ttfn and Scouse supporting one of our own in this way.

Players player of the year no less!

Just to make a point, no doubt.

Seriously shows just how under-estimated Jeff was by so many on here.

And for those claiming that Cambiasso could 'walk into any top four side'...well I don't see the offers flooding in just yet.

We'll see. I really don't want to lose Schlupp.

Come off it Col. Pot. Kettle. Black.

I don't think he was anywhere near the worst full back in the league last year never mind in the whole history of the premier league. Schlupp is quality and he'll only get better.

Those last ten games schlupp was like Ashley cole after a few courses of steroids. Trouble is first 15 or so games he was like Hugh Hefner who had lost his Viagra...

I only post (seriously) to make a point Col otherwise what is the purpose of posting?

I know you like Schlupp and think he shouldn't be held accountable for letting harmless crossfield balls that most League 2 full backs would cut out land at the feet of opposition strikers 10 yards from goal but that doesn't mean he's beyond criticism by other posters. Just like every other player.

To the matter at hand though, given the current market and Schlupp's importance to the team in a 3-4-3 £5 million is an insult.

yep as a wing back, with slightly less emphasis on defending and opposition players who weren't sure who's man he was he took full advantage and was great.

when he was needed to defend and be in the right position all game as a full back he was pathetically, laughably bad.

It amazes me that people like scouse can shit on so many of our players whilst if anyone does it to their hero, the offender gets a lifetime ban from threads.

Like schlupp and think with his pace he works great for us, but an Arsenal player :) Imagine him being involved in a champions league possession keeping move. Not sure he can trap a ball, think, pass, think to move, receive the ball, pass.Too many thinks methinks. Hopefully he will develop with LCFC but a million miles away from Arsenal standard. The ability to be powerful and run fast is not enough for a top 4 team is it?

Come off it, are you just chucking these comments out for effect? Firstly he hardly played at left back last year to even judge that and secondly I doubt you know every left back that has played in the premier league to comment either.

Lots of over the top comments in this thread on both sides of the argument. He was neither terrible or brilliant that often, much of the season his game was fairly steady but he improved as the season went on. He caused people problems with his pace most games, but also made a pigs ear of much of his delivery for most of the year. His assists and chance creation stats are fairly poor compared to Mahrez and Albrighton.

can't think of many players I've ever seen play footy who are less suited to being described as "fairly steady". He genuinely was either jaw droppingly amazing or eye wateringly bad for most the season.

I can associate with this.

Yesterday I was banned from yet another Cambiasso thread. I have no idea why, having posted something which was neither provocative, insulting nor argumentative.

Again, I have asked for an explanation, again with none given.

It's all opinion. Mine is that Schlupp started to massively improve in his defensive work toward the end of the season.

I recall him giving the likes of Nathan Dyer absolutely no time on the ball whatsoever. There were other games when, even if Jeff missed the first tackle, his pace enabled him to get back to make a second challenge and to win the ball back.

To be voted by his fellow team mates as the player of the season is a huge accolade for a lad so young. They clearly saw his contribution over the course of the season.

Like you though, I am amazed at what is allowed to stand on here and what isn't.

I think it may be a case of if your face fits? What is clear is that anything other than complete adulation for 'you know who' has been treated pretty much with contempt by fellow posters, whilst criticism of one of our most improved young players for ages gets laffed off. I don't get it.

As usual...a pretty fair and balanced post.

...and something Babs could say about almost every player in our team.

We're an average team with predominately average players, so many folks are unprepared to take the middle ground view of players and the number that don't give players a chance to develop or settle in is even greater.

I've done it myself  :/ We should all learn to be a bit more patient and forgiving at least in the early days of a player's career at LCFC.
