Guest Col city fan Posted 19 June 2015 Posted 19 June 2015 Cant agree with you. Jeff is only 22 and has just completed his first season in the premiership. You can only do that if A you have the ability or B you're playing in a very poor and struggling team. He's also the only player that can play in that left sided role for us.. He was also possibly the best left sided player in that role in the league last season. The only player who played a similar role was James Milner from man city who couldn't hold down a regular place in the Team and yet Liverpool have just paid 28 million for him. The fact that other clubs like Arsenal are trying to sign Jeff proves that he offers huge potential. If you consider Arsenal paid 12 million for Walcot at a similar age and that's 5 or 6 years ago. Given Jeffs age and current experience he must be worth 10 Million to us on current market prices. If he continues to work hard and progress further who knows what he could be worth.
ozleicester Posted 19 June 2015 Posted 19 June 2015 Has ANYONE offered anything for Jeff? Apart from the top 6, no-one is going to spend over $10 million on unproven players.
Guest Posted 19 June 2015 Posted 19 June 2015 Has ANYONE offered anything for Jeff? Apart from the top 6, no-one is going to spend over $10 million on unproven players. But Jeff is a proven player. one of the best 5 on a team finishing 14th in the prem. That's why people want him.

AKCJ Posted 19 June 2015 Posted 19 June 2015 But Jeff is a proven player. one of the best 5 on a team finishing 14th in the prem. That's why people want him. A 10 game spell of domination doesn't hide the fact that he wasn't all that for the large part of the season. Teams do their research when they spend 10m+.
MPH Posted 19 June 2015 Posted 19 June 2015 There are only rumours of offers and intrest... nothing concrete... so we cant say for sure how much he is worth until an offer is actually made... A player is worth as much as someone is willing to pay- or more if that offer is rejected.
thpike Posted 19 June 2015 Posted 19 June 2015 I often wonder if teams put up offers for players just for them to not have to play against them next term. Does that make sense?
Guest MattP Posted 19 June 2015 Posted 19 June 2015 But Jeff is a proven player. one of the best 5 on a team finishing 14th in the prem. That's why people want him. Come on, best 5? Cambiasso Vardy Mahrez Huth Wasyl Ulloa No one can surely say JS had more of an impact on our season than those 6? If Konchesky wasn't so shit we'd see him as average, wait until you see Fuchs, a player who has played season upon season in the Champions League, then compare.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 19 June 2015 Posted 19 June 2015 Definitely an argument to be made against those 6 being our best 6 players this year, and definitely an argument that Jeff deserves to be in there. The players voted him the best player, says a lot to me.

I'd put Schlupp in the top five for sure.
Guest Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 A 10 game spell of domination doesn't hide the fact that he wasn't all that for the large part of the season. Teams do their research when they spend 10m+. That's your opinion and your welcome to it. Some of us have seen Jeff's greatness since he started here and thought he played as well or better than most in many of the games last season.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Top 5 most impact players have got to be: Jeff Schlupp Marc Albrighton Esteban Cambiasso Robert Huth Jamie Vardy Schmeichael just misses out. He was immense when he returned from his injury but was a bit poor first half of the season.

Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Mahrez had a barren few months, Vardy went missing for over half the season, Albrighton had a big impact but can't say he was better than many over the season because he played so few games. Huth came in January, Was was dropped for a large part of the season, impossible to say Jeff wasn't one of our better players over the entire year.
Dan Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Schlupp's probably in and around the top five on that list. Even at 22 years old, that does not constitute twenty million in value. He's got too many limitations to be worth that. Inconsistent technique and poor concentration being the main ones.
Bagworthblue Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Good left footed left sided players come at a premium as there isn't too many around. Good left sided players that can do a decent job left back and left wing are even rarer. Add to this Schlupp's pace, age and positivity !! Hence the interest from a top club despite his limitations and he still has time on his side to improve. Haven't a clue what his true value is but it will be much higher than if he was exactly the same player but operated on the right.
ScouseFox Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 not being funny but how can anyone write off mahrez or vardy from a list of standout players from last season because they had a few off key months, yet say schlupp is up there?! he didn't have a few off key months, he had about 6 months of utter horse shit. he was amazing for the other 20% of the season tbf.
Lestoh Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Think the conclusion we can draw from this thread is that our team can't be narrowed down to 5 players who made the difference - it was a collective effort from all 11.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Might Aswell close this thread now. Can't see Schlupp leaving at all
Bryn Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Schlupp was consistent. Schmeichel was garbage before he got injured, Morgan was a bombscare for a lot of the season, Vardy exploded into form in the run in but was pretty indifferent prior to that, Albrighton wasn't fit to play for 3/4 of the season, Huth was only here from January. Along with Cambiasso, Schlupp is probably the only player who played to a good standard for the entire season and that is commendable for a player of his age.
