Not a massive fan of roller coasters or theme parks.

Stupid as it stands I've got more scared with the older I've got. As a kid I loved them nowadays I'm always thinking of the worse when queuing up.

Yeah its a good ride in general but the amount of problems it has is stupid, not the best for comfort either, don't know about anyone else, but my shoulders seem to kill after coming off it lol

Well shit my signature sucks.

Ride is notorious for 'stalling' in that area, the ride system should have never allowed two cars to be on the same 'block' ie portion of the ride though.

From what i've heard it's a mixture of poor design and human error.

Seen a video and photos, really doesn't look good, one guy looks out cold, front four are described as having serious injuries, namely their legs.

Imagine that happening to your legs.

Your feet are rested on that,  on that section it would be around 20-30mph into a stationary object with that separating you.

Video:

(NSFW? Quite distressing)

No I was agreeing with you, was referring to Fox92's post. Doesn't add anything to the discussion!

Did make me giggle.

Do we think The Smiler will be closed down for good?

Actually booked the 15th off work yesterday to visit haha, just my luck really.

Won't be going on the ride anyway for obvious reasons.

Oblivion had made me on edge at the 'tipping point' - been on a few times and have though whether the carriage would get stuck.

I seriously doubt it. £18million is far too much money to piss away.

I imagine the park won't reopen for a little while, and I wouldn't be surprised if The Smiler didn't reopen for the rest of the season. There's been far too much press for them to rush it back open.
