Babylon Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 People keep saying Kram failed to impress but how many games did he even start? Couldn't have been a lot.Probably because he wasn't up to scratch when he did. He had a couple of great finishes, but I lost count of the amount of shots ballooned over the bar. He looked short of a yard of pace and didn't have tempo. He might be brilliant, it can take 6 months a year to settle in I'm aware of that and you can see the lad has some ability. But I've seen nothing as yet that makes me think he could get the "15-20 goals", that keeps getting trotted out. I certainly expect more now he knows the club and the country.
Bettsj2 Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 The main problem in all this is probably Nugent. Its all very well people saying 'we have to keep him in case...' Nugent isnt a young guy and he probably wants to play every week which wont happen here.
fleckneymike Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Nugent struggles to position himself correctly. The speed of thought and reading of the game at premiership level just isn't there, many times the ball would flash across the box and Nugent would be stood on the edge of, or worse outside of, the area. He was given two years precisely because of this eventuality, if we'd failed last he'd be ok for another quick push in the championship, if we succeed we're not on the hook for wages in the Prem for too long and we can look to move him on. Been a very good player at championship level, a really good trier at prem level.

I think he held the ball up very well in at least a couple of the games he played in which he was given the completely thankless task of playing as a lone striker in a 5-4-1. The only game which really stands out as him looking off the pace was Swansea at home in which really the problem was his finishing more than anything else. He's definitely not quick enough to play right up front if we're playing the sort of Mad Max football we played at the end of last season but he's obviously got plenty of great attributes to his game which might get drawn out better by a tactically astute manager like Ranieri.
Steven Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 If Nuge was playing for Sunderland today, would people be worried he'd score. I would, because he's always going to be a threat. We've got to keep him. Okasaki may turn out to be crap in this league, vardy may get injured because of his style of play, then we'd be left with a slow centre forward and a young lad who again has not really done much.
Fox92 Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 I suppose those who are so open to criticising Nugent don't actually see his movement and ability to hold the ball then.
Steven Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 I suppose those who are so open to criticising Nugent don't actually see his movement and ability to hold the ball then. Damn straight. Plus his lack of composure.
Fatbloke Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Nuge would always be in my matchday squad, we are never the worse for him being in the team, either as a starter or coming on to change a game, he`s as fit as a fiddle and vastly experienced, would be gutted if he went elsewhere !
Webbo Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Bet Ipswich would love him there!!! He always scores at Portland Road. He'd be guaranteed 24 goals at least.
Kinowe Soorie Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Works hard but just doesn't score enough goals.
Raj Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 If Nugent was an opposing Premier League striker id be pissing myself and not at all worried.
Fatbloke Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Works hard but just doesn't score enough goals. Way way too simplistic mate, he does indeed work very hard but there`s far more to his game than simply work rate, defenders don`t get a minutes peace, he creates chances for others, holds the ball up when needed, runs at defenders which they hate and DOES score goals.
Fatbloke Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 If Nugent was an opposing Premier League striker id be pissing myself and not at all worried. This is a bit of Raj humour, you know better than that mate, defenders hate playing against players like Nuge Vards and Shinji !!

Penalties don't count!
Raj Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 This is a bit of Raj humour, you know better than that mate, defenders hate playing against players like Nuge Vards and Shinji !!Vardy is an annoying bee and a pain in the arse,I ain't got a clue about Shinji but just saying at THIS level I'm sure many Prem defenders wouldn't lose sleep knowing Nugent is an opposing striker.
Fatbloke Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 We`ll agree to differ on that then Raj, don`t get me wrong on Nuge, I`m not saying he should start every game and he most likely won`t but I would always have him available, based on pre season games Leo and Kram would not be getting a shirt today but Vards, Nuge and Shinji would be in contention, I am not the chairman of Nugent`s fan club but can`t for the life of me understand why ANY City fan would be against him being part of the set up.
Raj Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Let's agree to differ as long as you know I do appreciate what he's done for our club just don't think he would justify his place in the squad
Claridge Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 He was in David Lloyds narborough this morning, doing gym. Don't no why but I found that strange.Looked thoroughly pissed off as well

Larry_LCFC Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Talk inside the ground is he has gone to Wednesday for 1.8 mill this morning apparently? Any truth in that?
shailen Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 In all fairness, he is probably our last choice striker. We have Vardy, Kramaric, Okazaki and Ulloa all ahead of him. He can play a bit part player but I feel he'd be better off at a championship club.
Swiper Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Talk inside the ground is he has gone to Wednesday for 1.8 mill this morning apparently? Any truth in that? Nuge's girl replied to a Wednesday fan last night that he wasn't going there but also said yesterday that she couldn't confirm that he wasn't leaving. So make of that what you will. Think he's probably gone but I don't know that it'll be Wednesday. I, for one, would love to see him over here in the U.S.; think he could do well for himself in MLS. The transfer window is closed here though so it would have to be in January or next Summer.
Molly Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Still hope he stays but Okazaki looks a good upgrade.
