Banks Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Potentially signing Okazaki. Vardy and Ulloa brilliant towards the end of the season, plus we're bound to see much more of Kramaric next season, where does this leave Nugent? Would you sell him?
Danizen Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 25k a week to sit on the bench so unless he takes a wage cut, he can go. At this level, you'll struggle to find a cheaper player who can do the job he can.
Carl the Llama Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Tara Konchesky, fvck off Nugent. We really do have a bizarrely ungrateful bunch of fans when it comes to transfer speculation.
shailen Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 I don't think you can ever have enough strikers/advanced forwards. These are the guys that will win you a football game and given that Nuge has done well this season, and offers us something different is why i would keep him personally. I don't think many people have mentioned all our strikers atm give us something different and I think we should look to add to that rather than to give something away.
benpicko Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 It doesn't affect him slightly, if anything signing Okazaki will affect Ulloa more than him considering we're likely to continue with the front 2 with Mahrez or Nugent behind them. I say this every thread in which this is brought up. The only way Nugent will be going anywhere is if we get another attacking midfielder. If we get that person we were rumoured to get on loan, I can see Nugent barely featuring and then going on loan himself in the second half of the season. As it stands, if Okazaki comes in, we'll have Vardy, Kramaric, Okazaki, and Ulloa competing for the two places in front of Mahrez or Nugent. Vardy is pretty much guaranteed a place right now, and I think both Kramaric and Okazaki will be favoured over Ulloa considering the goal droughts he went through and how ineffective he can be at times.
Nick Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 I wouldn't be too shocked to see him get a years extension to prevent him leaving on a free at the end of next season.
Captain... Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Tara Konchesky, fvck off Nugent. We really do have a bizarrely ungrateful bunch of fans when it comes to transfer speculation. Fortunately just a noisy minority as this poll shows: http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/100911-taxi-for-nugent/page-5 Over 80% want him to stay.

KFS Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Need to keep him just incase new signings don't make the grade. Steady Eddie and makes us tick when he's playing well.
Kitchandro Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 The aim should be to replace him. He's ok but we have numerous better attacking players, whether you see him as a striker or a supporting forward. We wouldn't miss him, he should be 4th choice striker now, if we bring in another he's 5th, Mahrez is better than him in the hole if we choose to play that way. If we're going in the right direction he should have very limited playing time and if he's not playing there's no reason to keep him. Let's get a true goalscorer in and bin Nugent and Wood. They're not good enough, we need to move on.
jammie82uk Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Oh great another let's sell/get rid of Nugent thread
AyewJoking Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 An embarrassment of riches. Fúck off Kawazaki - We've got Nugent
Sharpe's Fox Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Nugent has a big role to play. A great supporting striker at this level and he has shown to be a fantastic player to bring off the bench and make an impact.
Sampson Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 If we're continuing to play with 2 up front and one in behind then absolutely not. He played the role behind the front 2 very well last season when he played there and there's games where he'll be much more suited for playing there than Mahrez (and Mahrez could easily get injured anyway).
lgfualol Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Would like to keep him as backup. Seems like a good character and best pals with Vardy.
Ollie93 Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 How do we know Okazaki won't flop? How many times does Nugent have to prove himself, give the lad a break.
gerrytaggart Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Tara Konchesky, fvck off Nugent. We really do have a bizarrely ungrateful bunch of fans when it comes to transfer speculation. I agree. I always cringe when I read such shit. Any player who served the club like Nugent and Koncheski deserve more respect.
chapero82 Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 I agree. I always cringe when I read such shit. Any player who served the club like Nugent and Koncheski deserve more respect. Konch has been ok, but it was his time to go before last season, with Jeff and dyer on the left in the championship was also far better
bovril Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 I agree. I always cringe when I read such shit. Any player who served the club like Nugent and Koncheski deserve more respect. As much as I like Nugent, I think "serve" is the wrong choice of verb in this instance!
gerrytaggart Posted 6 June 2015 Posted 6 June 2015 As much as I like Nugent, I think "serve" is the wrong choice of verb in this instance! What verb should I have used?
Monsell1976 Posted 6 June 2015 Posted 6 June 2015 He's ok back up, we need to improve on the starting 11, but players like nugent, konchesky are good enough for squad players. The difference is at times these players were automatic starters, we are hopefully upgrading on these, but during the season, they could still be valuable members of the squad, a few long term injuries they will be used. As long as they are content to be back up, I don't see much point in moving them on, as we have 25 spaces available in the squad, why get rid to replace with similar standard back up players.
theessexfox Posted 6 June 2015 Posted 6 June 2015 He's been an important cog in our wheel numerous times the last 3 years, when he plays his contribution can't simply be measured in goals and assists, he helps us tick. No guarantee whatsoever that someone coming from another league would be able to do a better job. Kramaric Ulloa Vardy Nugent and Mahrez sounds good to me but I trust Nigel.
Gerard Posted 6 June 2015 Posted 6 June 2015 He's a good PL standard footballer, if we play 3-4-1-2 then he fits into three positions. I'm not counting Wood but currently we have Ulloa, Vardy, Kramaric, Mahrez and Nugent to fit those three positions. Unless we buy someone who is an automatic first choice then Nugent is essential to our squad.
bovril Posted 6 June 2015 Posted 6 June 2015 What verb should I have used? Just played for. I like Nugent but I he was never going to play at a higher level than top-end Championship / bottom-half Premiership. I'd hardly call him a good servant for having 4 decent seasons with us.
