Richmondfox Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 I don't necessarily have a problem with him leaving but if he's been told he's surplus to requirements that's poor imo, it gives the impression that you can try as hard as you like but you still won't play regardless Or that him trying his hardest still isn't good enough for what we need. This is a mixed one for me, we have much better strikers now so if he is to drop further back he would be competing with Mahrez and Kram. When he misses chances from a few yards out it doesn't help his cause but then he'll score crackers from far out, something which we miss. He has a great work rate and does seem to add a positive element to the squad but then it comes back to him missing easy chances he has to be putting away and us having better players.
Marmite Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 It would be a real shame to see him leave as he has been a good servant to the club and played a big part in our promotion. Having said that you have to take the emotions out of it and to be honest he is a good championship striker who will get a lot of goals at that level but the Premiership is to much for him.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 I'd like to see him stay and fight for his place and if Kram and Okazaki step up then loan him out to a championship club like Ipswich in January
LCFC FOX Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Thought he'd be back up to Mahrez in the cam role to be honest, suppose that will be Kramaric then
sdb Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 To QPR as part of the Austin deal?? That'd be sweet, but doubt QPR could even cover Nuge's wage demands at the mo? And that's including after getting rid of Austin's. Good news if he does go is the pillock who sits in front of me will no longer moan about Nugent, which is pretty tiring.
ScouseFox Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 bit disappointing i guess but he was never going to feature every week. however when he was going to be needed he'd have done his job. also seemed happy enough to be in and out the team and play up front, in behind or a bit wider throughout last year. seems a bit pointless telling him to piss off for no reason.
sdb Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Until someone does what he does, he's not 'relegated' to 5th choice in my eyes. Kram/Okazaki are still unknown quantities A great member of our squad, and when he plays, the team plays better. If he does go, it will probably be to be replaced by a player from the Italian or French league, who will turn us flat down in favour of a CL club Risky to get rid, unless you're Arsenal you need a roster of forwards over a whole season. Especially if a player is incoming from France as they'll no doubt be in the awkwardly timed AFCON every 2 years This is what concerns me about Ranieri, when a character or 2 goes out the squad, you can lose the mentality that saw us stay up last season & can be the difference between us & our rivals Talent & hardwork trumps talent alone every single time & none came harder-working than our Nuge & the goals he's scored show how talented he was too. Could be a -20 in the team chemistry column Agree with this. Not a technically great player but helps set the tempo for the team and does have a good (on and off field) relation with Vardy. Okasaki and Kramaric are still very much unknown quantities too. That said, if this opens the door for Austin to arrive then sometimes you just have to be cut throat about these things.
kingfox Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Still a very hard worker but not really Premier League quality. Very good Championship striker though, so if he is leaving & drops down a division then that club has a very good buy.
TheSomersetFox Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Nothing but good words to say about Nuge, hope it's bullshit
RowlattsFox Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 I think he leaves a gap in our squad if he does go, not sure Kramaric is a 'in the hole' player.
sdb Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 I think he leaves a gap in our squad if he does go, not sure Kramaric is a 'in the hole' player. ...and Hopper's left.
SlaneyLCFC Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Nothing but good words to say about Nuge, hope it's bullshit same here Works hard and would be a real shame if he was "not in his plans" so to speak
Foxhateram Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 I still say he was one of our key players in that cam role last term. He closes down tirelessly and links up play effectively. He will be missed if he goes.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Right decision and good to see Ranieri is making the right calls even if they're unpopular decisions. If we'd kept Pearson I'd have no problem keeping Nuge around but if we're taking a new approach to get to the next level (which we undoubtedly are by binning Pearson and bringing Ranieri in) then he is surplus to requirements. Hard worker, scored some pearlers but ultimately just not good enough for PL level.
Ric Flair Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Be sad to see him go as he has been very reliable for us 90% of the time and his goals helped get us up. He deserves to be more than a bit part player and we'll miss him but I don't see a place for him right now. Those last 9 games he barely played due to injury and we didn't miss him then did we? I'm sure there will be times when his sor of play could help us but he won't stay here and play 10 mins here and there. All the best whereever he goes.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 He's scored some belters, been a great servant and a fantastic character for us over the past four years but unfortunately we can't have any room for sentiment - is he good enough for where we want to be heading? Whilst there is an argument for the fact we do seem a better unit with Nuge in the side, some of his cameos last year were almost pornographically bad - I think Burnley at home in particular sticks out as one of the most infuriating appearances I've ever seen from him. He won't be on peanuts and if selling him frees up some room for manoeuvre to bring in someone we've already identified that can push us on in terms of squad quality, it's time to say goodbye. He'll be a fantastic signing for a Championship side and would easily bag 15+ for a decent side like Wednesday. Doesn't deserve half the stick he's got from a small minority of Twitter dribblies as on the whole he's been huge for us since he arrived and seems a great bloke so I can't help but wish him all the best if he does move on (and if he doesn't I'd be more than content to have him as a squad player), but unfortunately sometimes you have to be ruthless to improve.
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 love nuge and i would love to plough his missus
SomalianFox15 Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 He's not good enough at this level but I really don't want him to leave. Scored some crucial goals for us and will be remembered.

I guess I see him more as a midfielder nowadays. Think it's due to his link up play, judging him as a striker, I agree that he needs to do more to play at a higher level, but as a midfielder who wins the ball high up the pitch, pressurises defences and links up play well, I feel he still has an integral place in our team. Playing just behind the front two I would play Nuge as a first team regular. I like mahrez, but at times he can lack discipline, in tight games he can sometimes be guilty of being out of position, leaving the midfield 2 exposed. I just like the way Nuge sweeps up, and puts the pressure on. Will be gutted to see him leave if he does go. I really hope not though. Krammy, Okazaki, Ulloa and Vardes are all going to be battling for the striker role, keeping them all happy is going to be tough. Good luck Claudio. Nuge and Mahrez to me are both more of a cam than a striker.
whitlock Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Haven't seen anything official but a lot of Sheff Weds fans think they are in for Nuge.
ARM1968 Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Can't say I'm surprised but I would have given it a few games first before evaluating The forwards.
