Coffee Shops

I don't understand taking pictures of starbucks, there's nothing remarkable about a starbucks coffee, you can get one from probably any one of 5,000 stores here, the idea is you take a picture of something usual or at least less common not a chain restaurant meal or chain coffee. That's why pubs are more interesting places because they're more unique not a copy and paste store

Love a nice Strawberries & Crème Frappuccino from Starbucks.

And the caramel one.

Makes you appreciate taste buds.

Really good coffee shops here in Maastricht...

I have very vague memories of being in an American style diner in Maastricht the night we stuffed Germany 5-1. I'd been at Spa (Grand Prix) and hit the pub at lunch time with a mate in preparation for the big match that evening while the others went and watched the qualifying. After the match the others came back, and decided I was in a fit enough state announcing, 'come on we're going Maastricht'.

I like coffee, I like independent coffee shops.

What I don't like are companies like Starbucks and Costa Coffee who preach how their coffee is Fair trade and how they help farmers in Africa or South America but then avoid paying any tax in this country and have off shore bank accounts for tax purposes.

**** your Frappachino.

I only get Starbucks coffee because I get a free voucher every week from my health insurance for it if I complete 4 or more training sessions, I like coffee but I'm not paying £3 or more for one.

I lost you when you mentioned coffee and Starbucks in the same breath. If I want a decent coffee that's the last place I would head. I occasionally get a drink there but don't treat it as coffee.

I love a well crafted cup of coffee just as much as I'd love a craft beer or wine. There's a huge variety of flavours and styles. Yes it can get a bit snobby but no more so than fans of other drinks.

But to be honest you can't get great coffee in any of the chains. On a good day you might get a well made drink in one of them but the coffee itself is usually pretty dull.

Well what a bunch of miserable victor meldrews in this thread! lol

Absolutely love coffee - growing up in Belgrave as a kid I would always go for fresh coffee over tea any day and sorry to burst your bubbles but never posted a photo on Facebook or Twitter or anywhere at all for that matter....

If you drank coffee but never posted a photo, did it really happen?

I like strong coffee and I can not lie

You other fellas can't deny

When a fella walks in a big issue up to his chin

He's only going for a cup of chai!

What's the dealio with Maastricht these days? Still stopping foreigners at the door? I'm asking for a friend...

Yep...you now need to be Dutch or have a residence permit...

Coffee is nice. Usually comfy places to relax. People have been popping into cafés for a coffee or a tea while they're out and about for decades, this isn't a new thing lol

Centuries!

I love a good coffee. Sadly had to cut down to only an infrequent cup now due to their effect on my blood pressure and I really miss it.

Make my own daily fresh fruit smoothies now - guess people will complain about those too.

Next thing you know they'll be tea shops, popping up all over Britain... filthy indo-chinese leaf drink...

St Martins coffee shop is absolutely superb. Love that place.

Where I always go on a Sat morning with the wife, get some time with her before I leave her for the footy in the afternoon. I only like these independent places....but still only drink tea - the wifes the coffee fiend.

The well-known coffee shop brands normally just 'dunk' ingredients in etc, without being professionally caring (especially when it's busy etc).

Small, independent shops servers are like someone in their own kitchen; put in the right level of certain ingredient that the person wants.

Speaking of pretentiousness there's a few people at work that now buy glass bottled water from Norway for like 3 quid a bottle, of course they have to let you know that they're drinking it at all times

My partner goes to Costa most days, and says she couldn't survive without going there. She is Costa crazy. It makes me so bloody angry, and I hope they go bust!

Now I'm off for a few pints of "Old Peculiar." Love the stuff.
