Why is Liam Moore out of favour

Recommended Posts

Cos he was awful in every game he played last season, which includes those in the lower division when he was loaned out

Never said he won't ever be good enough, just that he clearly isn't/wasn't last season. He was sent out on loan, I'm not assuming anything, I didn't assume Brentford stopped playing him and he was recalled as a result.

I'd suggest that you DID say he isn't good enough:

Safe to assume he isn't considered to be Premier League standard by the staff at the club, hence his loan spell and not featuring in our squad.

So you are indirectly criticizing the coaching staff/NP? There's always one.

If every player who got dropped by a team or went on a loan spell wasn't good enough there wouldn't be enough players in the prem to have a 5 a side league.

Very few City players weren't dropped at some stage.

Harry Kane was sent out on Loan to us and was so bad he didn't feature in the squad eventually, seems now he's a little older he's good enough for the Prem though.

As I said Liam is young and skilled and likely to play in the Prem for a good 10 years whether you think so or not.

What is his attitude like??

Anyone know him or know someone who knows him??

or someone who knows his GF.

I think being dropped after getting a good run in the team has put his nose out of place somewhat. He needs to put the work in now to convince NP and others that he can be a PL defender. I think he has the quality its just whether he can fulfill his potential

I've been hearing about us needing a "fast" centre back for years, Morgan was "too slow", Huth was "too slow", Was, yup "too slow"... we've done absolutely fine with them.

How many times can you honestly say the centre backs have been troubled due to the pace of a striker, I can't think of too many.

Ask every centre back who played against Vardy this season.

Because he isn't good enough.

...well he was good enough last season and made a good start to the season, but I guess it isn't unfair to say he hasn't been good enough...

Out of favour because so far hasn't showed any indication that he's up to Premier League football.

...he played in a couple of our wins and played very well at the start of the season when facing the attacking talents of Everton, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United, I think there was an indication he could be up to PL football...

Yeah you're right, I'd love a guy who clearly isn't capable at this level to be in our starting line up because he's young and one of our own.

...I'm sensing a theme here, again "clearly isn't capable" is a bit harsh, he has shown his ability in the last 2 seasons and he is only young and will only get better...

He's shit, quite frankly

...well that's just rude...

Cos he was awful in every game he played last season, which includes those in the lower division when he was loaned out

...oh bollocks to this, there are too many morons on here, I'm going home.

I don't know Liam at all.

I think he a decent player with a good amount of skill and potential to hold his own in the top league later in his career. Various posters have said his attitude could be better, but apart from his subdued manner on the lap of honour, not been given any evidence of this.

As in any job experience is usually invaluable and last season when we needed stability an knowhow at the centre of defence, the over 30's came good. For me Huth, Was and Wes were immense in terms of positioning, decision making and making sure our shape was right. If you can't get these three key aspects right, no amount of skill or speed will continually compensate. Sooner or later you always get found out. Liam did struggle last season.

Liam is learning a lot in the under 21's where the standard is very average, because again nearly all the players are still learning the game. IMO, it would do Liam no harm to agree a half season loan to a championship side likely to be going for the play-offs who has a good first team coach. Middlesbrough spring to mind, but they may be alright in that department.

Anyway, Liam is not necessarily out of favour, the club appear to value him, he does have a bright future, he just needs to keep learning.

We're never happy unless we're knocking someone are we? lol lol lol

I love the authority in people's posts. "he's shit" or, "simply isn't good enough"

Since when? The PL is a big step up and he'll be a regular player for a PL side for years to come given a couple of more seasons.

I get bored of typing the same response in every thread that my replies get shorter and shorter, but I'll repeat my opinion again.

He has shown that he was good when he played for us in the Championship and he is young and has the core attributes to be successful for us in this division. I just think that he is lacking experience and his decision making was not very good, and with us playing the Premier League his mistakes were being punished. It's not like the Championship where you have the luxury of defending against strikers that won't always punish you. I'm not writing him off I just felt that his inexperience cost us in a high percentage of games that he played in.

So don't reply then, I'm bored of reading every player called shit. I also get bored of threads demanding the recall of players who aren't in the squad when the reasons are clear. He is young he is inexperienced and he did make mistakes last season but not enough to warrant being written off and called shit by numerous "fans".

He wasn't awful but he hasn't shown yet any reason why he should start ahead of the 3 centre backs the guided us to survival ( apart from the fact one of them isn't our player).

If you're going to have a rant at people calling him shit, demanding the recall of players who aren't in the squad and being written off by fans then at least quote people that are saying that and not expect me to defend my comments when I've not said any of that

And by that token of "so don't reply then" I could well say "so don't read the forum then" but that's why we use such a medium...

He'll be playing in an international tournament in the summer.

Not bad going for someone who is "not good enough".

Consistency seems to be the issue - or, at least, recovering his consistency after 1 or 2 poor performances (which all players have). That's not unusual for a young player.

In 2013-14, he started the Championship season very well, but went off the boil after a few months.

In 2014-15, he started the Premier League season looking the part, but then lost his form and place again.

Maybe, after 1 or 2 poor performances, he loses confidence and starts to become hesitant or to make even more poor decisions: i.e. it may be a psychological issue linked to his youth.

If he can't remedy that or develops a bad attitude, that would be a problem. But he does seem to have the skills and judgment to play at Premier League level. He just needs help to get back to that level after a bad match or two.

People were slating Vardy in a similar vein the season before last....

Posted

Haha people still genuinely believe you need pacey centre backs to be successful lol

One's enough, though - two slow ones are a bit of a disaster waiting to happen. In particular in this division, given the quality of opposition wingers and forwards.

There's only that much you can make up for with good positioning. In the end, it depends on your team's style of play, anyway.

Posted

Too much concentrating on the P word - Pace and not enough on the other P word - Positioning. The reason why Huth, Was & Morgan did so well late in the season is because all 3 can read the game. Anyone thinks Liam did okay early in the season should wonder why Was was brought back in and was barely moved after November. Moore was caught out of position for goals against Arsenal, Swansea & Man Utd to name just 3. Lost his man or lost the flight of the ball and ended up just doing nothing. Defending is about right place, right time, not running back to cover.

Eventually, he'll be a big asset, definitely a future captain but for now he needs to watch the experienced players and bide his time.

Give him a couple of seasons and i think he will be ready, he just looks a bit overweight for a young pro to be honest, easily sorted out and with a bit of confidence Liam will be back. Maybe a season on loan in the championship with a decent centre back to bring him on.....

Up the City......

Wrong, you DO NOT NEED pace at the back. The pace obsession is frankly annoying now and im assuming fifa has caused it

Bloody FIFA, they can't do anything right at the moment...
