Nick Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Gary doing a bit of moonlighting - hope we don't lose him from MOTD.
Babylon Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 So is it exclusively on BT, or is it split between ITV and BT? Or BT and SKY? Gary doing a bit of moonlighting - hope we don't lose him from MOTD. He's just signed a new contract with the BBC... which I would imagine he negotiated in something that let him front these shows. He already does some stuff in the middle east.

According to this: BT Sport Pack The only place to watch UEFA Champions League live £5/Month if you've only got BT Broadband
the zorro Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 From the BBC: BT Sport have announced that at least 12 Champions League games will be shown on free-to-air television next season. The broadcaster, who will have sole UK rights for the Champions League and Europa League games from next term, will show those matches on a new channel called BT Sport Showcase, along with at least 14 Europa League games. Each participating British team will be shown at least once. Gary Lineker will be the broadcaster's main presenter but will still host Match of the Day on BBC1, while former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will be a pundit.
Beliall Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 ****ing hate BT. those ***** are ruining my sport viewing. first they take the baseball, now the champions league too
Dan Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Crap if you've not got BT. Always liked being able to watch the CL. At least you get something free though although there's nothing stopping them showing Maribor v Sporting Lisbon as your freebie.
Nick Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 ****ing hate BT. those ***** are ruining my sport viewing. first they take the baseball, now the champions league too Never been bothered about the CL in all honesty but do like the Moto GP and the Rugby which is an inconvenience to say the least!
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 BT are shite I would never give those drips my money.
RowlattsFox Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 I'm sure I've read somewhere that at least 1 game per match week has to be shown on terrestrial TV, which is why ITV have had the rights recently, is that still happening or are the 'free' 12 games covering that rule.

ITV don't have any of it. The 12 games will be on BT on freeview/Sky/Virgin
RonnieTodger Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Brilliant isn't it. BT price will go up £5 which is fair enough but Sky won't get any cheaper despite them losing the Champions League.
Wymsey Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 BT are shite I would never give those drips my money. Agree. They think that they're something they're not.
Jimothy Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Whoever's idea it was that there needs to be competition in the market to stop Sky having a monopoly, and thought that allowing other subscription services to jump in was the right way to go, wants shooting. Fine Sky (or one broadcaster) shouldn't have all the football packages, but to allow multiple subscription services into the market isn't fair on the customer. Live sport is just that, live, so Sky and BT aren't competing with each other as they're not both showing the same games. So it's not like you have a choice, it's you either have to pay extra to have it all, or only have part of the live sport. If they want to share out the football packages, let terrestrial channels have one of them, because the way it is at the moment there's nothing stopping numerous subscription services having 25 odd games each, and each charging £15 a month, like BT do.

You really can blame the EU for this and it's something I moaned about when it was first touted. There's no 'choice' involved so no competition to bring prices down in fact it's having opposite effect.
purpleronnie Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Steven 'errrrrrmmmmm' Gerrard and Rio 'rubber lips' Ferdinand, fantastic.
Nick Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Steven 'errrrrrmmmmm' Gerrard and Rio 'rubber lips' Ferdinand, fantastic. I wonder if he'll pick his nose with his thumbnail like he spent his Liverpool career doing or if they'll slap it out of him during media training. Good luck to Rio - he could use a break at the moment but his mouth can run away with him - should be entertaining...
Footballwipe Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 There's no rule about FTA coverage. BT in their bid promised that one game per matchday will be available FTA in order to win the bid, so they're just following it through. As mentioned 12 UCL games, with all English (not sure about Celtic) teams shown once. It doesn't mean one game per leg, however, so they only need to show one match from the last 16 and that's done and dusted. 14 EL games too, same specifics as above. At least the UK will have access to all 24 games on a Europa League matchnight, which would be great if there wasn't so much tut in the group stage of the Europa League along with the decent teams. You wouldn't mind if Sky has reduced their bills accordingly, instead because of the threat bills are going up because they spent so much money on the PL. The consumer loses here. ITV will have the UCL highlights, on Wednesday this year too to it means we should get a decent show with goals from every game.
BrummieFOX Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 I'd put a fair bit of money on Gerrard being an awful pundit.
Wymsey Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 I'd put a fair bit of money on Gerrard being an awful pundit. Think some viewers will either have to turn the sound right up to listen what he says, or they'll have the 'mute' button on every time he speaks.
wattolcfc Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Can't wait to watch the city in ultra high definition though! Bring it on!
Leicesterpool Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 I've always found the coverage of BT sport to be very amateur, once again its another of these new channels that come along and believe they compete with Sky Sports. Setanta i think only lasted about a year, Prem Plus, Espn. Fingers crossed BT will go in the same direction.
Corky Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 I'd put a fair bit of money on Gerrard being an awful pundit. Redknapp's an even worse choice, when do you ever hear him saying anything insightful?
Jimothy Posted 9 June 2015 Posted 9 June 2015 Redknapp's an even worse choice, when do you ever hear him saying anything insightful? Constantly shouting over the other pundits too. It's not ****ing question time Jamie, let Souness, Henry, Carragher or whoever have their say then you can spout whatever pointless crap you want. Also whenever he buts in, he always changes the subject from what the other guy was talking about. Half the time he's not even butting in to argue with them, he's sort of agreeing with them whilst trying to go off on a tangent. As for BT I can't stand Jake Humpherys. I never minded him as the face of F1 on the BBC, he seemed ok, so I don't know if someone else's idea but his presenting style is really childish and gimmicky. He's like the Ian Stringer of TV.
