Confirmed: Ranieri new manager

Recommended Posts

Why is it a strange appointment 'football wise'?

We didn't have a manager, Ranieri didn't have a job, he's done well at other clubs and we (allegedly) wanted a big name manager.

Because this squad has been built on stability and hard work.

Ranieri plays a completely different style of football to the fast counter attacking football we've played for over two seasons now.

This appointment is in the best interests of King Power, not Leicester City,

Vassel, Danns and St Ledger at least weren't terrible championship players. We were just outside the play off, that's not being in a mess.

That's why they are playing for errrrr nobody, some sack of shit in America after being rejected by Ipswich and Bolton... who are shit.

Spending £15 / £20m and losing 3-0 to Millwall really is a bit of a mess.

Vassel and Danns are both well into their 30s and winding down their careers. SSL is 30 and has struggled with injuries for years now.

We're not talking about now though are we, we're talking about four years ago, when they were all decent championship players.

I think 95% of us would agree Pearson did a better job than Sven but what's that got to do with Claudio?

It's all in the name of making Pearson into a god like figure amongst all fans.

Best way to go it is exaggerate the clubs position when he came in, exaggerate the job he has done and slaughter the new manager before he has even started, calling him Sven mk2.

Just because our last foreign, aging manager bought a load of over priced shit doesn't mean this one will, anymore than if we'd appointed an English manager in his early 50s he'd be bound to strangle opposition players on the touchline.

Can we at least wait to see who he signs before we condemn him for it?

Vassell was actually decent for us. Losing 3-0 at home to Millwall. Try losing 4-2 at home to burton albion

What is your criteria for "decent"? Was it the avalanche of goals or the mountain of assists? Or was it his always being referred to as an ex-England striker? Vassell was the very definition of ineffectual...Very much like the manager who signed him, he was all reputation and very little else. Sven basically went round signing all his ex buddies from Man City - one of which was decent - the rest of whom (Fernandes, Ball, Vassell, Johnson) were completely unfit (literally in most cases) for a top half Championship club. If Ranieri signs Carl;ton Cole, we will know that we have a manager of very similar character.

I stand by my comment . Pearson WASN'T good enough to Manage in the PL.. The first 29 games proved that!.. He got lucky in the last 9 and we somehow escaped relegation... Time will prove me right as he won't be a PL manager again!.. IMHO.

There is a lot of tosh written on here, and this is amongst the best of the tosh, totally illogical statement but having read quite a lot of your posts we can just add it to the other rubbish you have written.

He put in 100% every game. Would unsettle defenders. Looked to run behind. Was different to anything we had at the time. He was decent enough

There is a fair chance his next job at least won't be in the Premier League..

Last season proved he can do it, just not sure a Premier League club would want the sideshow that came with his last one.

Wouldn't put it past him to get promoted again though..

His crossing and finishing were goddam awful. His unsettling of defenders was nothing like Vardy's ability to do same. Sven had an unerring knack of finding the clapped out has been and hoping and praying he could return them to former glory. He signed two useful players - Kasper and Nugent.

Thinking about it, I think we're VERY lucky in having a DoF in John Rudkin.

He's been at the club since God knows and hence knows the club inside out; he's not daft like John Carver, and he can provide valuable advice to both the owners and Ranieri in the interests of the club.

Okay, so what have Sven's big bucks loans and signings done since Sven left? Including Vassel, Danns and St Ledger.
