So MAYBE we've missed out on a handful of players. They all seem young with great potential and have price tags of 10m euros plus. Is it really a surprise that they may want to play for Marseille or Athletico instead of Leicester.

We are trying for high quality players. If we'd tried for lower quality we'd be able to sign them. What would you prefer?

Probably to approach realistic targets.

He was at 'bigger' clubs than Leicester... The clubs can attract players more than the managers I guess, but the fact Esteban hasn't re-signed and we are struggling to attract players makes me worry. Only time will tell.

That was my point, you were implying it was the manager choice!

I agree, realistic targets like Cambiasso was.

Fair point but I don't need to explain something that has been explained 10+ times before about stages in careers etc.

Why would highly rated players want to join us? If they are as good as they say then they'll get a move to someone better.

Young foreign players aren't going to have a clue who we are. All they know is we're a new premier league team who were mainly shit last season and somehow managed survival.

Just hate it when people are realistic......................

Might take my boots with me in a fortnight

Incidentally, noting that we have improved our squad compared to last year needs to be tempered by the fact that so have most of the other clubs.

I'm thinking its a bit of both to be honest. Cambiasso saying he rejected within 24hrs worried me, and I've not been encouraged to believe Ranieri is this big pull since. Again it's early days so not panicking... Yet

Nampalys Mendy does not want to join Leicester City, despite a €10m offer on the table, according to L'Équipe.

Even this little shit doesn't want to join us from a French club who just make up the numbers.

This is both worrying and frustrating.

I'd rather the club keep trying though with players who will certainly improve us but are a bit out of reach rather than settling for a player than no one gets excited about. It's frustrating when we have the money and the wages to offer but still it's not enough.

It is getting a bit worrying at the moment. We're being linked with plenty of people and bidding decent amounts but not convincing them that we're worth coming to, and then seemingly giving up and moving to the next target

The newspapers are linking us with players - that's all

There's a reason for that and it's because we are after these players.

Which players have we been linked with that we aren't after in your opinion?

We look amateurish this summer. The way the manager sacking/appointment was handled and subsequent transfer targets.

Are players or there representatives not having informal discussions before we make these bids. It's like the club is run by a bunch of morons.

On the other side of the coin though we've probably set our sights a little high and that's why we're struggling. Take Motta for example being linked with Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Leicester.

We could always set our sights a lot lower and be competing with Forest and Derby for a player and our strike rate would be much better.

I'm happy with us trying to chat up the best looking girls in the club in the hope that one says yes rather than settling for the average girl. Then again though when it gets to quarter to two we may end up with the fat munter.  :o

But the fat munters can usually cook real good!!!

He may not play for the best team, but he thinks he can get Champions League, European football... it's about the player over rating his own ability

No one wants to join us!! Our manager choice is really paying off...

It`s not the manager they don`t want to join, it`s the club!

Most have probably barely heard of Leicester City, and see us a small club who will be fighting relegation at best.

It`s not going to be easy, but the club, and i suppose initially John Rudkin, have got to do all they can to sell the club to the player, by stressing how ambitious the club and the owners are.

Both in terms of the financial package being offered and also the vision of the club moving forward in the coming years.

Of course, if we do things by the book, and don`t tap up players and agents, then we have got to have a bid accepted first, before we even get the chance to talk to the player.

Ultimately, it looks to me at least, as if we are trying to bring some higher quality players in, who probably feel that they can wait, and a better and bigger club will come along and sign them, which will make it all the more difficult to get a deal done, but surely we would rather that, than bring someone in who is no better than what we have, and will not help the club move on to better things.

Sadly, the only way to convince these guys they should come here is to offer them too much money. That's not the way to keep the team spirit. By all means, pay a stand out player more but the promising younger ones should not command a blow away salary.

Hence, it's doubtful any of these young French league players will want to come here. we need to target players who will want to come. We probably are and the press are unaware. Employing rainieri should help to recruit in the longer term as it raises the profile.

This is a little confusing.

Seeing how we have catapulted Mahrez' career from an average League 2 team to winning promotion to the Premier League and playing for your country.

Same can almost be said about Knockaert from League 2 to winning promotion to the PL, and now playing in Belgium with basic Europa League every year.

And it's not as if our own failed French League captures have been bad, Kermorgant, average team to getting to the Prem with Bournemouth...

How the fvck did Southampton manage to convince Dejan Lovren (Lyon), Dani Osvaldo (Roma), Victor Wanyama (Celtic) all to them in only their second season in the premiership.

Whilst we struggle being able to attract mid table Ligue 1 players.

That last sentence makes no sense... It raises our profile ... Has our profile not currently been raised by his appointment? It's not seeming to help us so why would it in the long run?

Is it closer to London? Also south coast area is a lot nicer than the midlands...
