Mansfield v Leicester- This Saturday

That's what happens when you sack a manager who had the squad well organised at the end of June.

I'm not feeling this season one bit at the minute I'm afraid.

lol who had we signed this time last season? Doom and gloom because we drew a pointless friendly. The result doesn't matter. It's for fitness. Also you don't want to give too much away to scouts in these games. Don't want Sunderland to know how we will set up and who we will play.

Did you even read the post? Gobshite.

Would you rather play the game with 100% commitment and get a player injured. The key is not to get any injuries. Why people turn up to these games is beyond me

What has changed with the squad since the end of June? no one has left apart from those out of contract who wouldn't have been part of the 'organised' squad at June 30.

no one has a clue what would have transpired if we hadn't changed managers. Any more players in?. Any leaving?

What a waste of time that was. Did we even create anything?

Nope! I'm getting more and more concerned about Krama as well. He's a poacher, that seems to be all he's got, but he will never get a chance to play that role here so......

Guys you need to get over pre season - it is just a way of getting the players on a pitch and into routine - no one is going to go full throttle in a pre season friendly - they are a waste of time as a spectator sport so move on......

Have to disagree with that. I think he's got a lot more to him than that, bags of potential and the odd bit of skill, but things just haven't quite clicked yet. His 4 goals he has scored for us (2 in the league, 1 in the cup, 1 in pre season) weren't exactly tap ins either. Think he just needs a bit more time

Exactly look at england v Ireland other month. Pre season means nothing apart from fitness and mixing team up abit. People over exaggerate the importance of it

I'm not basing it on today's game. It is a glorified training session. I'm basing it on us being short in the squad, yet again, due to things we could've avoided.

I just do not share the optimism this time around I'm afraid. We're struggling to get anyone sign for us and the squad is blatantly light.

I say with some confidence a couple more would've been signed.

In which case perhaps you can let us know who they were ?

Come off it. You're being picky for the sake of being picky. We have the same scouts and DoF in place but I believe we'd have definitely signed a couple more players if we hadn't changed manager - we'd signed three players in June before Pearson was sacked, and now all of a sudden it's stopped. I cannot help but think the two are linked.

Bloody hell, Charlie boy!

What you bloody helling now?

Went to the game earlier, but there's not really anything to say about it. Dull is an understatement.

But I'm not even slightly concerned, history has told me pre season is absolutely no indicator whatsoever into how well prepared we are for the league

Only a friendly, yep; but that was crap. We played with one (****ing ONE) recognised central midfielder in the first half and that was Dean Hammond; already seen we've glossed over it with the usual 'ah, it's only pre-season, good run-out' ballsack every manager does - but we are desperately short of top tier quality in the middle of the park and it will bite us on the arse unless it's sorted before the opener.

Chilwell looked by far and away the best of the youngsters despite some good set pieces from Barmby, Lawrence tried too hard at times, it seemed. Felt sorry for Kramaric and Okazaki feeding off scraps for an hour, though the latter showed some nice touches at times and Kramaric did well for the goal.

Got an awful feeling we're gonna line up in a formation that completely ruins these players come a fortnight, I'm still trying to figure out how we lined up first half today.

Good post. The usual suspects completely missing the point as usual. I'm not being doom and gloom because we draw with Mansfield, I honestly don't give a shit, I'm doom and gloom because we are quite blatantly unprepared with just two weeks until the season's opener.

There's just no balance at the minute and the amount of players expressing a lack of interest in joining us is concerning me, a lot.

Totally incomparable. For the ninety fifth time, it's not the result I'm worried about. I need to avoid putting anything in this thread.
