I don't like to jump on Stringers back because he already gets a bit of criticism, and I don't doubt that football commentating is a difficult job. But if I'm being honest I don't know how the team is set up and I don't really have a good idea what is going on either

cityfanlee23 Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Maybe I am looking too far into this, but with only 2 weeks until the season kicks off, Needing 2 centre backs, 2 midfielders and potentially a Right back, only 2 weeks for ranieri to decide who his best 11 is, find players to add to that, and get the team playing his style as well as learning the strengths of the existing team, then the fact we've not really pulled any trees up yet in pre season (not that I was really expecting much so early into Rainieri' tenure) Does anyone feel the season may just come around a bit too soon? Potentially if we strengthen the squad with 4 players that could take a week... those players who realistically would be filling the gaps of the most important areas of our squad will only have about a week to gel and adapt to the team etc.... Not sure if this worries me or excites me..

Not sure if this worries me or excites me.. I really wouldnt worry. We went until 9 games left last season before we found our best team and form.

Ranieri has already said we play well with 3 at the back Wes, Huth, Moore, Was, Fuchs and De Laet is plenty of cover and Simpson as a backup if we go 442. Midfield reinforcements is what we need

When did I say we couldn't? what I am saying is that we've lost 2 instrumental players and that will clearly effect morale. So take Cambiasso's and Pearsons contribution to our survival out of the equation. It's clear in the midfield we are vastly under powered and arguably with Moore sounding terrible and Wes' tendency to be hot and cold, there are reasons for doubt... I personally think counting last seasons momentum is rather irrelevant.. it will be 3 months between the end of last season and start of the next, iconic changes inbetween those times. I'm not saying it cant happen and we wont be fine... but we need to hit the ground running.. which will be difficult with the summer we've had so far. In my opinion.

Midfield reinforcements is what we need I don't think it's dramatic wanting to get better alternatives at the back.. Moore is not yet good enough, Wes is arguably not good enough anyway. Huth is the only genuine premier league CB we have, So why do we not need another 2? Simpson is not good enough, De Laet is okay but we know his weaknesses, and albrighton is not a RWB, so the RB position is dependant on Ranieri's formation. If he want's to play RWB again then I think we need cover, because mahrez, De Laet and Simpson can't really defend.

The concern is that in my opinion we NEED 4 new players, 2 CM and 2 CB atleast. Your suggestion does not take the club forward though does it, so we might aswell have stuck with pearson, Clearly we are looking to sign players, and i'm positive we will see 3-4 players arrive, which is why i'm concerned with the time left.
