Matt Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 and all but one bigger more established clubs than us, Exactly, in a way it arguably easier to do it at the bigger clubs, players already there, the clubs are already established, easier to attract players, ok the pressure is on to succeed at the bigger clubs but then he's been sacked hasn't he. - This is the shittest club he's been at, will he be able to do it here? Time will tell but that's my 'logic' towards the scenario.

Except of course, he managed Cagliari, and took them from Serie C to Serie A, also took over Parma when they were looking at getting relegated and took them to a mid table finish,so not all big clubs, with big players, but of course your only happy to try and see negatives. I swear we could have appointed Jose Mourinho himself and it wouldn`t have been good enough for some fans. Pearson has gone, get used to it, get over it, and for fvck sake get behind the manager, and players of the football club you support.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Possible to have player ratings from anyone that went to watch today? Only negative I've heard is Hammond gave away a trademark foul which led to a penalty!
lgfualol Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 I wouldn't get too carried away with the Chilwell hype, yes he looks a good prospect, but remember last pre season so did James Pearson Chilwell is only 18, whereas James Pearson was about 22 last Summer and couldn't get in the first 11 for a conference team.

Yes different expectations funny thing on FT though is one minute we are in panic mode for not signing players or looking at uninspiring players and the next minute we are being stupid looking at players whom are out of our league. Also of course some of the sources make indykalia look ITK. Sure if the ask him, Ranieri will admit he would like Messi and Ronaldo. Not sure how many of these we have actually shown an interest in. We clearly had a list pre Pearson and seem to be looking at those targets. In a recent interview Ranieri came across as identifying a type of player and asking the likes of Walsh snr and the scouting team to bring them in.
Gerard Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 The concern is that in my opinion we NEED 4 new players, 2 CM and 2 CB atleast. Your suggestion does not take the club forward though does it, so we might aswell have stuck with pearson, Clearly we are looking to sign players, and i'm positive we will see 3-4 players arrive, which is why i'm concerned with the time left. One CB would be fine. We finished with Was, Morgan and Huth last season an we looked solid. Th two CM's are crucial and worrying with less than two weeks to go to Sunderland.
Tuna Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Chilwell is only 18. Could do with a loan at a League 1 or 2 club.
Dr The Singh Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Watched the match, majority players were poor. The young lads looked out of there depth, so did shinji

The young lads looked out of there depth, so did shinji It was however a pre season friendly, which means jack shit! Have you ever seen a decent pre season game, i can`t think of one myself, they are all just a glorified kickabout, so nothing can really be took from them. In fact some of our worst pre seasons, have quite often been followed by a good season.

4everfox Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 There's not a manager on earth that could do anything with Greece under current circumstances. Monaco sacked him for finishing 2nd in their first season back in Ligue 1. Inter Milan have been even worse since he left. Juventus sacked him for challenging for the title in Serie A two seasons in a row right after getting promoted from Serie B. Valencia wasn't too good from him but he was filling the boots of Rafa Benitez and lets be honest how often do we see talented managers fail when succeeding managers who have been extremely successful? Chelsea sacked him in favour of appointing Jose Mourinho even though he guided them to the semi finals of the Champions League and runners up in the Premier League for the first time in 50 odd years. One poor job in a thirty year managerial career doesn't define a poor manager.
Edingleyfox Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Really good atmosphere at the start but most fans were a bit bored by the end. However agree pre season nobody wants to get injured although it was good to see Nugent showing a bit of passion and getting on the scoresheet. Would feel a lot happier with another solid centre back and quality controlling CM on the books (OK we are are well aware of that) .We also really tentative and nervous for some reason rather than the fluent attacking team we saw late on last time It is a shame there is not a bigger home game to get us going before the Sunderland game
Raj Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 1-1. Nuge with a 20 yard "trademark" finish and they scored a pen which Hammond gave awayCheers

I've watched pre season matches for over 20 years, the first half was probably one of the most boring

ARM1968 Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 His record overall is very good. Signed some great players for Chelsea. Seems like he has been sacked rather unfairly a few times, but that's football. I'll see how he does but I think he's the right man.

katieakita Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Like it or not he is the man we have chosen to replace NP, so lets give the bloke a chance is record all considered is pretty decent and if you look at what he did and who he brought in at Chelsea he did a good job. He often gets criticised for the last season when Abramovich brought in many of the players. Like many on here patience is not one of my biggest virtues but we need to understand that the club do not have to run things by us first.
Dan Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 My god that was dull. I'm literally stuck for comments because there was just so little of note. Thought Mansfield were a fairly dirty, but decent side for their level.

Dan Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Maybe I am looking too far into this, but with only 2 weeks until the season kicks off, Needing 2 centre backs, 2 midfielders and potentially a Right back, only 2 weeks for ranieri to decide who his best 11 is, find players to add to that, and get the team playing his style as well as learning the strengths of the existing team, then the fact we've not really pulled any trees up yet in pre season (not that I was really expecting much so early into Rainieri' tenure) Does anyone feel the season may just come around a bit too soon? Potentially if we strengthen the squad with 4 players that could take a week... those players who realistically would be filling the gaps of the most important areas of our squad will only have about a week to gel and adapt to the team etc.... Not sure if this worries me or excites me.. That's what happens when you sack a manager who had the squad well organised at the end of June. I'm not feeling this season one bit at the minute I'm afraid.

Like many on here patience is not one of my biggest virtues but we need to understand that the club do not have to run things by us first. The first time ive chosen to comment on the managerial change so for what its worth, whether or not it was right to sack nige, whether or not we would have improved last season with him and whether or not CR is the right manager to take us forward instead is now immaterial. Hes here and we have to trust that his exp will get us over the line of survivalg with anything more a bonus. Im not a pearsonite or a CR hater, just a fan of our club whatever.Thats important to me. However, though at face value he looks the best option of a poor set of options open to us, Im not sure we will be doing so well with him as the owners ask us to trust in. I am so looking forward to being surprised, and if not will look forward with optimism to the next chapter in our history. So lets get behind him and the side picked.
