Manwell Pablo Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 Why not do a 4-4-2 with Vardy and Kane up top, Ox & Walcott on the wings? Because Woy has his formation and way of playing (boring as it is) and I don't think he's about to re invent the wheel for the sake of starting Jamie Vardy somehow.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 Club form is pretty irrelevant else Townsend wouldn't keep getting called up based on his International performances, I do agree with Pablo actually. It doesn't even come down to who is the better player, Kane fits this lethargic woy football and therefore is more of an asset to England. Vardy chasing lost causes means **** all if nobody else has the same energy and enthusiasm on the ball. If Vardy is to be used in the setup then he's much better as the plan b impact sub
Xen Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 Vardy might not fit Hodgsons boring football style, but i think Woy may be pushed into trying something different today. Walcott and Vardy both being in decent form playing a quicker style of football, combined with Rooney & ings' injuries makes it an obvious opportunity to try something different, especially as we've already qualified. Sticking both of them up top with Sterling would be my choice, with all three interchanging freely.
dhermon Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 Taken a cheeky nibble on Vards to do a job with a few nags tomorrow.
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 Vardy will start tomorrow. He's not Welsh mate.
Guest Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 Don't see the word form anywhere in my post perhaps try reading I merely stating one has performed when given the chance the other didn't. The word form was used by your hero Col not me. Not to mention 30 goals a season sort of outweighs a 2 month purple patch. We didn't drop Shearer and Owen every time they had a bit of a dry spell for the latest striker to hit a bit of goal scoring form. You said that because he has scored for England he should be in the team over Vardy. That's BS. Kane is not playing better than Vardy, Vardy should be in. The only valid point you made was that Kane should be in if he fits the style of play better than Vardy. We didn't drop Owen and Shearer and we didn't win every game and we didn't win any trophies. Who knows actually playing players who are playing well may mean we win more games, it may get those 'out of form' players to play harder for their England places too.
Guest Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 Fck off mate This is actually the sensible non blue tinted specs argument, I know that as if it this wasn't an LCFC forum this wouldn't even be a talking point, it is purely because he's a Leicester player. Sounds more the like white big team tinted specs argument. Play him even though he's playing crap because he's NOT a Leicester player.
Guest Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 Do you know what your right We should leave Rooney and Kane at home in the summer and take Vardy and Wilson instead. If they are playing crap that's right. What a moronic idea that you should play Kane and Rooney in a finals if they're not playing well. We've done that before and it didn't work. Maybe we should put Lineker back in the squad. He did pretty well for England and he's a goalscorer.

As I say you'd end up with no end of shit players with loads of caps to their name if you picked purely on short term club form. Taking International performance into account is important, there have been many players who have done nothing for the club, even struggled to get a game at times, but still get straight into their national teams as they always deliver on that stage. Highlighted bit probably the most irrelevant thing I've ever read on this forum unless you are seriously suggesting the reason we didn't win every game and didn't win a trophie is due to us not dropping two of their generations best goal scorers
steflcfc Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 In my opinion there should be no reason not to start Vardy tonight. He is the in form premiership striker. Along with Walcott they are the 2 on form. If form means nothing then it's the typical unless you play for a top 6 team debate. Which is half the reason we haven't won much in the first place with just as good talent playing in so called "smaller teams" If Vardy doesn't start tonight he might as well stay in Leicester England are going nowhere at the Euros when they prefer names who are not performing. It's no good saying "but they can change a game at the drop of a hat" because we have seen over the years that quite frankly they don't!
Webbo Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 Maybe Vardy's pressing and defending from the front would be more useful against the better sides rather than the minnows.

He can't even score in finals tournaments. Unlike you I think that the best players at the time should play and not some player who is playing crap. Following your philosophy, new players would never get to play. Inler should have played every Foxes game this season. caps are earned on merit not form No they aren't. What the hell are you calling "merit"? Caps are given not earned.
Foxymcoxy Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 Vardy always steps up sooner or later. Give him a genuine run in the squad, not just when everyone else is unavailable, and he will perform. He doesn't need to start every game but give him some chances up front, ideally with a strike partner.
Lestoh Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 Reality is lads, we're biased towards our own.If Kane was ours, we'd find it ridiculous that he'd lose out on a place in the team to Vardy just based on recent league form. Kane scores for England and we've seen how prolific he can be. Not to take anything away from Vardy - he's a great striker who could shine against Estonia - but Kane is the better striker.

He's got six goals in five tournaments two of which he was injured one of which he was suspended for half of. No your exaggerating my point to the extreme, there are actually reasons for playing Kane, he has struggled for a very short period of time and has performed for England and had a fantastic 2014-15
AKCJ Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 Do you know what your right We should leave Rooney and Kane at home in the summer and take Vardy and Wilson instead. Is that what I said? However if Vardy scores as he's started all season and Kane does too then I would definitely want Vardy on THE plane ahead of him. Rooney offers other qualities. He should play regardless.

I tell you what, If Vardy scores 33 goals this season and Kane scores 5 I will admit you have a point, I am feeling quietly confident I wont have to though.

He's s scored 2 in his last 4tourbanebts which is about 12 games. I.e. Piss poor.

I am not bending any facts he has 6 in 5 tournaments. No bending about it it's simple fact. he said he didn't score in finals, that's his finals record. Your bending facts by leaving tournaments out. That's forgetting he shouldn't even of been playing at 2010
foxes_rule1978 Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 I am not bending any facts he has 6 in 5 tournaments. No bending about it it's simple fact. he said he didn't score in finals, that his finals record. Your bending facts by leaving tournaments out. Anyway Ronaldo doesn't hold that much of a better record than Rooney at international level That's forgetting he shouldn't even of been playing at 2010 This is true.. it is fact that Rooney was injured in 2010, barely played in 2012 and was our best player in 2014... 2004 he was arguably the best player at the tournament that year, had he not got injured who knows, 2006 he had a massive injury just before that tournament and I'm sure was far from fit again. And his record in qualifiers when fully fit speaks for itself.
AKCJ Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 I tell you what, If Vardy scores 33 goals this season and Kane scores 5 I will admit you have a point, I am feeling quietly confident I wont have to though. But you don't think I have a point now that Vardy has around 11 goals in his last 15 Pl games and Kane has about 44 in the same time frame?
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 October 2015 Posted 9 October 2015 But you don't think I have a point now that Vardy has around 11 goals in his last 15 Pl games and Kane has about 44 in the same time frame? Well to be honest no, as Harry Kane scored about 30 goals in all comps last season and Vardy got about 4, and Kane is taking his chances for England better, and suits the style of play much better.

Vardy has had about 20 mins against Ireland upfront then 90 mins on the left wing, hardly a fare comparison to Kane who always comes on in his prime role
