On Behalf Of A Leyton Orient Fan....

I am a Leyton Orient fan and I come in peace and to ask for your help.

In 2012, London hosted a fantastic Olympics, but the legacy of that event could be the very future of smaller football clubs with a long and proud history. The bill for reconversion of the stadium stands at £272m with West Ham United only contributing £15m. Boris Johnson, the LLDC and the government, refuse point blank to publish the rental agreement that sees the taxpayer forking out for repairs, water, electric, pitch maintenance, stewarding and even policing costs, meaning a massive state aid giveaway – an unfair subsidy on competition between ALL clubs, and not just those closest to the Queen Elizabeth Park.

A joint London coalition of several fans trusts have started a petition which we urge EVERY football fan and taxpayer to sign – the link to the petition appears below – and to share with friends, family and work colleagues.

christ, they're in league two and are still obsessed with that stadium. What a horrible little football club.

What the **** does what league they are in have to do with it, are they not entitled to a opinion?

Thanks for supporting us. The petition has been called by the following clubs supporters trusts. These are:

• Arsenal Supporters’ Trust

• Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust

• Chelsea Supporters’ Trust

• Crystal Palace Supporters’ Trust

• Fulham Supporters’ Trust

• Leyton Orient Fans’ Trust

• QPR1st Supporters’ Trust

• Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust

We don't object to WHUFC moving into the stadium. Just object to the fact that tax payers money is funding this rennovation and move, as well as ongoing annual costs.

Here is the link again: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/106355

Your help is most appreciated.

I've signed. West Ham have literally won the postcode lottery and clubs like Orient shouldn't have to suffer as a result. It's a huge slap in the face for taxpayers too. West Ham are a solid club in the richest league in the world. How this sneaked through when all the government talks about is austerity and tough choices, I'll never know.

disgusting attitude it moves a biggish club closer to them meaning losing more fans

Good, far too many London clubs anyway

I think I can speak for everyone in this case when I say Shut the F**k up .

Happily signed . Best of luck

Signed. I already thought there wasn't something right about this but after West Ham had the cheek to charge us £45 for the away tickets last weekend, I'm even more interested in seeing a proper result for this now.

Thanks to everyone for your support. We now have supporters from many clubs from all leagues up and down the country signing the petition.

Its not about any one club not gaining the stadium (mine in particular). Its about the unfair way this deal has been negotiated. Its a 207 page contract of which 85% has been redacted. What we do know is this: Renovation costs are £275m. WHUFC are contributing just £15m. So we the tax payer (that's you and me) are picking up the balance. Incidentally when WHUFC sell their ground, currently valued at £78m, they will not be expected to hand over any money from the proceeds of that sale.

The annual rent of the new stadium has been set at £2.5m, but the tax payer will be providing faciltiies, ticketing, stewarding, policing, and I kid you not, the goal posts, nets and corner flags. This has been independantly costed at £2.5m pa., so WHUFC are getting a new stadium rent free in real terms.

We feel this gives WHUFC an unfair advantage to other premier league clubs and lower league clubs in terms of finance and income and is an unjust burden on the tax payer.

We respect all views given but our hope is you are prepared to share the petition link on your own facebook pages and with family, friends and work colleagues if you are happy to do so.

Thanks once again.

I have signed this, the only thing I don't understand is why would west ham want to move here? If I was a fan of west ham I wouldn't fancy it.

Gold and Sullivan have really pushed it through haven't they? Massively cheaper than building a new ground and an additional twenty thousand more fans through the turnstiles every home game in comparison to Upton Park.

The fans might not like it but in theory it'll mean ridiculous money made in gates without the extortionate cost of building a new ground.

Signed, How the hell can a team in our league have 90% of their new ground paid for by the tax payer while other people are struggling due to cuts etc. Madness.
