Not complaining but.......

has there really been no offers from (bigger clubs) for our best players. Schlupp, vardy, mahrez, allbrighton, kasper. The only players that left the club are the ones that wouldn't even make our bench.

If, for example, Man City etc offered £30m for Mahrez - would you, if you were the boss, sell him and use it to replace him or reject it instantly?

I'd reject it, personally, but it's a massive decision to make based on him and those others you mentioned in where we are now.

We haven't been a selling club for quite a while now

We have a happy squad that are happy to be playing for us

And besides, we are in the position where we can ask for silly money for players. Personally I thought 4mill for nugent was an amazing bit of business

That's a nice turn around on mahrez in a year an half. How much did we Pay for him? But would have to triple that price for me to sell

We bought him for 400k I think, wouldn't want to sell him for 40m, he's killing it

Mahrez cost us just £400k!

West Brom sniffing around Vardy in Jan - New deal

Arsenal sniffing around Schlupp - new deal

Happened before with Moore and I'm sure many others.

He is clearly a talented player but that turn around says an awful lot about the coaching and confidence building since he's been at City

We have been taken over by realLy strange thinkers these threads are getting more "twin peaks" bizarre by the day

BUT here is the answer

1 We pay proper proper wages

2 It's a happy atmosphere

3 The club is going places

4 And we are now only really vulnerable to champions league teams and only Mahrez is close to that getting on one of those teams and he just signed a new contract

So there is little chance of loosing players at this point

To be fair, if any of the big clubs came in for our players it's likely that they'd want to leave, especially if it's for champions league football. I'm guessing that the £11M we got for Heskey will be broken sooner rather than later. Mahrez keeps up his form someone will eventually take notice and offer silly money.

Probably because these players we rate so highly haven't actually proved themselves fully in a top league yet.

And to say you wouldn't sell Mahrez for £40million is ludicrous!

We don't need the money and other clubs know it. Thanks to our wealthy owners we no longer have our best players poached, which has always been our ultimate limitation in the past.

Of course, players can still request to leave, but there's no doubt that having wealthy owners is a huge advantage at this point.

A few clubs were sniffing round Kasper.

The main reason we don't hear things is because we don't use the press toanipulate deals. If someone bids for Mahrez, we don't make statements in the press about it being an insulting offer and how he is a big part of our plans, with a coded message saying offer more money whilst alerting other clubs to get involved in a bidding war.

If we are offered in excess of 15 mill for mahrez, I suspect we would take it.

I think you will notice the lad getting a fair amount of physical attention now and let's see how he copes. I recall a game last autumn where he got crunched early on and he went missing thereafter. I think a role where he is allowed to wander would be best suited if teams are going to target him. Then he will be able to avoid his marker getting too close whilst he doesn't have the ball. very few teams would employ a man marker to follow a single player everywhere.

there's been brief rumours of;

schlupp to arsenal

kasper to a few places

mahrez to spurs

vardy to villa

ulloa to palace

huth to west brom (before we bought him obviously)

then if you consider we only just bought kramaric, shinji, kante, inler, benny & fuchs, that leaves only king, morgan, albrighton and drinkwater as first team players who people haven't sniffed around. at least not "publicly" anyway.

Because we have not shown consistency over a larger period of games. Most of last season these players were not performing but since West Ham at home we have been ruthless and got results when needed. If the players can maintain the form over the whole season, bigger clubs will definitely come calling
