We are much better now than when the Cormorant used to score against us ..... A lot of people seem to think they might turn us over .... Is that because we are doing so well and the bubble is bound to burst at some point ..... We'll think on .. As that bloke said at the end of Gladiator ..... " the bubble will burst .. But NOT ON SATURDAY " ...... ((Or words to that effect ?!?!?!?)

Makes sense for now. Having a winger as an option from the bench is always useful.

Foxes boss quotes Rudyard Kipling to enthuse about youth prospect Joseph Dodoo after stunning hat-trick

Thursday 27 August 2015

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has told his defenders he will give them a ten pound bonus if they keep a clean sheet atAFC Bournemouth this weekend.

The newly-promoted Cherries hit four past West Ham United last weekend to secure their first Premier League victory while Leicester are yet to shut the opposition out this season.

Ranieri is delighted by his side's start to the new campaign, as the Foxes sit in unfamiliar ground in the top four ahead of the international break, and the Italian is prepared to reward his players financially - albeit with spare change.

"I love a clean sheet," he said. "Maybe I will pay a tenner to all my players when they get a clean sheet."

Dodoo.jpgJoseph Dodoo made a name for himself at BuryThe Foxes are unbeaten following wins over Sunderland and Slavan Bilić's Hammers before last weekend's 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur while academy graduate Joseph Dodoo fired them to a 4-1 win over Bury in the Capital One Cup.

But Ranieri is still on the look-out for a new wide man to provide cover for the enigmatic Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton and has been linked with a move for Birmingham City winger Demarai Gray.

Reports that Leicester have met the 19-year-old's reported £4.7m release clause appear premature but the former Chelsea boss appeared unwilling to deny the rumours out of hand.

Demarai%20Gray.jpgDemarai Gray scored a wonder goal against Leicester in pre-season"You know I don’t speak about speculation, I only speak when a player arrives. There are some good players like him, it is not only him."

Dodoo, who scored a hat-trick at Gigg Lane in midweek, will travel to the South Coast this weekend to improve his 'understanding' of the rigours of first-team football.

"A club like Leicester lives with its young players," Ranieri added. "For us it is important to build and also look to young players to help us in the future. It is the same, the first team and the academy works together.

"That is fantastic, but Joe must forget everything now. There is a good poem by [Rudyard] Kipling: the winner and loser is the same. Dodoo comes with us to Bournemouth to understand everything."

King's been almost ever present in what must now be the best run of results in all Europe, or very close, since the beginning of April...and he's played consistently well.

Against Spurs on Saturday, with the team in a tactical straight-jacket, he was one of the few players who managed to retain possession whatever the pressure....and not for the first time.

I agree about the need to include Kante - he's been the most impressive of our new signings by a distance so far.

Inler will doubtless be picked but he's been notably hit and miss.

His talent is clear but he makes so many risky passes I can see him costing us at times and, to me, losing possession through unforced error is the cardinal sin of Premiership football.

We'll need alert, accurate passing and calm heads against Bournemouth because I don't see them in any way mirroring the rigidly massed ranks of containment we'll likely employ.

They'll be in our faces from the off and trying to score goals. We've got pace and pressure potential in our own side but I'm not convinced we'll use it.

For all that high-speed, well-supported counter attacks have been the key to our own success, I'm not yet convinced that Ranieri's bought into it. Against Spurs we were little more than spoilers.

Certainly there were few signs of adventure and Bournemouth will offer no less a test.

Their manager seems a shrewd and positive tactician well able to get the best from his resources.

Gradel epitomises Bournemouth's positive approach (and probably knows no other way) and what's more he'll will have a point to prove. I can only see us coming under considerable pressure at times and that means the brighter our minds and the fewer mistakes the better.

We also need to retain the pace in our side.

I'll never bet against Leicester, but if we shape up like we did against Spurs there'll be little case for optimism.

Kante in for Drinkwater might improve our chances but it still bothers me who's best to link with Vardy up front because no-one stands out as being the full package. We need to play whoever will take most attending to, because that will occupy more of Bournemouth's resources.

A five-man midfield with Schlupp and Mahrez on the outside might be best, helped by Kante, Inler and King in the centre.

After that it's down to whether we play three at the back and two up front or four at the back and risk being as boring as we were last week. If Kramaric or Okasaki plays we could utilise King more defensively when under pressure in what, I'm sure, will be a fascinating duel and one of considerable importance all round.

Who Dares Wins comes to mind but you can never really write the script for football.

Perhaps our attitude will be the key. Either we find the way to attack and defend as a unit or we'll falter. Against Spurs we were rarely a unit. The defenders were so self-contained we were like a girdle with virtually nothing but sideways elasticity.

We'll need more bouyancy and cohesion than that at the seaside.

We'll not contain the rip-tide of Bournemouth's attacks without flooding forward ourselves as chances arise and that's the part that was missing against Spurs.

When we got the ball, too many of our team remained becalmed in The Doldrums instead of going with the flow, opening up passing opportunities and testing the strength of Spurs' tidal barrier.

We seemed afraid to get out of our depth yet the waves Spurs actually threatened were rarely more than ripples.

Must say i'd be very disappointed if Inler starts. Would just about understand Kante playing his way into a 451/352 for this game but really we should be seeing minimal changes to such a well performing side.

stat time

All eight league meetings between Leicester and Bournemouth have been won by a single-goal margin.

Leicester City have won the last four league meetings in a row with Bournemouth.

The Foxes have won three and lost none of their last four Premier League away games; they have never gone five on the road without defeat in the competition.

Leicester have won three of their last four Premier League away games, having tasted victory only three times in the previous 28 matches in the top flight on the road.

Defeat by Aston Villa on the opening day ended a run of 10 home games without defeat in the league for Bournemouth (W6 D4).

After scoring against West Ham last weekend; Marc Pugh has now scored in each of the top five tiers of English football, as well as the FA Cup and League Cup.

Riyad Mahrez has scored six goals in his last six Premier League appearances, including four in his three PL games in 2015-16 so far.

The Cherries have won 17 penalties since the start of last season; three more than any other club in the top four tiers.

Leicester City have averaged the lowest possession figure in the Premier League after three matchdays (36.3%).

The Foxes also have the lowest passing accuracy (69%) and the lowest successful passes per game average (196).

Tough game as Bournemouth play with a lot of attacking intent and our defence hasn't been that great.

I think there will be a lot of goals. Going for 4-2 Leicester

Those passing stats will have suffered because of the way we set up against Spurs. What do the players do if the boss tells eight of the team to muster into a defensive phalanx and only manouevre a few yards to either side? You lose the ball because there's no-one free to pass to.

The figures will doubtless improve as we get more skilled in the Italian way of passing the ball endlessly around the defensive end of the pitch with the sole purpose of boring the opposition into a momentary lapse in concentration.

Ray Wilkins was absolutely made for the system which I watched on television all those years ago simply because it sent me to sleep so quickly.

What a player Ray was. Years in the top flight and England honours too while never seeming to pass the ball more than 10 yards sideways.

I always wondered how he'd play if the pitches were turned through 90 degrees. He might have been the most accurately exciting playmaker on earth. :)

Ranieri has style that's for sure. And I'm sure he's sincere. But Dodoo like every other young player will want to get time on the pitch as well as learning his theory, and I hope the boss can get the balance right.

I don't see Dodoo actually being in the match day squad I just see him going along for the ride

Dodoo deserves a spot on the bench for this game. Doubt he'll get in the pitch unless there is an injury but still, nice reward for his cup exploits. We have to bring these players on. Finding your own academy gems is rare these days but so worthwhile.

Still think this game will be a serious test as Bournmouth will have great confidence after their last 3 games. Really should have got something from Anfield.

As prevoius game I'd be OK with us taking a point, would like to see CR having to stump up some tenners for a clean sheet, be much happier to take a 2-0 win with Mahrez scoring a couple :) 5 points clear of the relegation zone just isn't enough with so many games to play

Bournemouth v Leicester City: Howe eager to entertain

Bournemouth have scored eight goals in their last two games and Eddie Howe has urged his side to "entertain" against Leicester City.

Eddie Howe has called on his Bournemouth side to put on a show when they go in search of a first Premier League home win against unbeaten Leicester City on Saturday.

Callum Wilson scored a hat-trick on a historic day for Bournemouth at West Ham last weekend, as the south-coast club claimed their first Premier League victory.

That 4-3 success got the top-flight newcomers off the mark after 1-0 defeats against Aston Villa and Liverpool, who needed a controversial Christian Benteke goal to secure all three points at Anfield.

Howe named a totally different side for Tuesday's League Cup second-round trip to Hartlepool United and the fringe players took their chance by dishing out a 4-0 hammering.

However, Leicester have claimed seven points from their first nine games in a hugely impressive start under the vastly experienced Claudio Ranieri.

And Howe spoke of his admiration of Leicester ahead of the clash at Dean Court and knows his side must make home advantage work in their favour.

"Leicester are potent in attack. They have a number of good forward players, but they'll also be tricky to break down," he said.

"Home form is obviously important to every team; it means a lot for us to play well and entertain our own fans.

"Leicester have started very well and they are a side that we respect immensely. We look forward to hosting them."

Leicester make the journey south sitting second in the table after a fine strike from the in-form Riyad Mahrez secured a 1-1 draw against Tottenham last time out.

Winger Mahrez will attempt to continue his record of having scored in every game, having also found the back of the net in the victories over Sunderland and West Ham.

Leicester have raised eyebrows with the manner in which they have started the season, but Ranieri has been around too long to get carried away.

"We must stay calm and continue to fight. Our goal is to reach 40 points as soon as possible," said the amiable Italian.

"Bournemouth are a good team. They didn't deserve to lose to Liverpool and Aston Villa. They'll want to beat us.

"It's a dangerous match. Bournemouth want to press us from the start and they are well organised. It will be a good match.

"Bournemouth's story is unbelievable, but fantastic. The fans have passion. There's a good link between the team and Eddie."

Ranieri also made 11 changes in the League Cup at Bury and striker Joe Dodoo took his chance in emphatic fashion, scoring a hat-trick on his first-team debut. The 20-year-old will be rewarded with a place in the squad this weekend.

Only Matty James (knee) is out of contention, so Ranieri could name the same side which has started all three top-flight games so far.

Harry Arter (hip/thigh) is set to miss out for Bournemouth, while there will be no return to Premier League action for Ian Harte after the left-back announced his retirement on Thursday.

Honestly believe this is where Bournemouth's 'bubble' will burst.

4-1 Leicester; Vardy, Ulloa, King and Mahrez.

i always think one of Shinji or Vardy are perfect for a second half subs to come on and terrorise defenders on their last legs. But we are deploying both from the start. Dont no whether anyone agrees.

I agree.

No he doesn't, Ranieri is showing him what first team football is all about and getting him involved slowly. no need to rush him.

Brilliant. The lad's earned it and Ranieri's shown some faith. Being involved will be a big boost to the lad's confidence and motivation. The experience of breathing the fire and brimstone of a full-blooded Premiership match will be exhilarating and surely the kind of taster he'll want some more of.

Who will be dropped from the bench, though?

Can see Kramaric not being in the squad personally.
