The amount spent isn't the issue its the players available wanting to come to us. There's loads of clubs that could spunk 20 million and not worry about it given the current TV money. So basically, it won't be long. January or next summer if we're in the Prem maybe.

Happily the club seems to look for value and I'm sure if someone's going to cost £20m we won't baulk at it so long as they tick all the criteria. In the context of where we're aiming, and what it might take to get there and survive, it's not such a lot. I'm sure the first two or three such deals will hurt but once we start buying and selling at that level it just becomes quite normal. Perhaps it's worth looking at it this way - a 50% profit on a million is only £500,000. But a 50% profit on £20 million (whether paid in achievements or transfer fees) is £10million. And you're not likely to win anything without significant, well-founded investment.
suffolk fox Posted 27 January 2016 Posted 27 January 2016 My only concern is it is well known in January you can pay an over inflated price for a player that realistically is not that good. Townsend 12 million to Newcastle being a prime example. Clubs hold other clubs to ransom. I do believe we will eventually sign a 20 million pound player. If however we have to wait until the Summer, without rushing to buy the player we want then I feel we should play the waiting game. Let's not be mugged off. We should have learnt from Kramaric surely?
